BlackHole

This is a contest entry for WickerBeastGravecat . Basically I had to write a backstory to a character in order to get them. So I am going for BlackHole. I wrote it from first person cuz that's the best idea I had to execute this. Just know, he's supposed to be like a teenager in this, like around fifteen in human years (I don't know how old that would be for QuazarWings). I'm pointing this out cuz he says "Since my youth..." He is just referring to being younger than he is, like being five or so in human years. Anyways, here we go...

Silently and swiftly, I glided through the emptiness of space, feathered wings outstretched. With ears perked, I listened behind me. They were after me. I had to get away.

Since my youth, I had been put down for having two tails. It made no sense to me, to have your life be determined by such a pointless factor. But nonetheless, it meant something to most of those on Reyix. Over time, this discrimination led me to betray the law, breaking it with thievery and violence. What was the point of following it anyways? All it was was a set of rules lied down by those who think they are better than those like me. Besides, it's not like it chanced how they saw me anyways.

But today, I had pushed it too far. Me, being sick and tired of the hate, attacked one of the queens, Queen Equinox, when I had the chance. And it was a big mistake. Immediately, I realized that, and with quick thinking I was able to get away from her. But not her guards.

So now, the royal guards were after me. They followed close behind, and I could hear their powerful wings beating at the air. I had to escape them before something bad happened to me. Ahead of me, I noticed an asteroid field, perfect to loose them in.

So, with a sharp twist of my star speckled wings, I turned to the asteroids, speeding strait into the chaos. I knew, deep down, that this was a horrible idea. Asteroids, especially ones as big as these, could be very dangerous. But it was a risk I had to take.

The royal guards, with no fear in their eyes, darted after me. I had hoped they'd just give up, but that was not what should be expected of them. As nimbly as my body would allow me, I twisted and turned between the massive rocks, barely scraping my claws against their stony surfaces. This, however, was mimicked by the guards, who had equally as good of flight as I.

As I flew, small rocks blew past my ears, and I could feel them cut though my flesh. I let out a soft whimper in pain, but did not stop. After a short while, I began to loose the sound of their wings behind me, so I risked a glance back. Big mistake.

I looked back behind myself to find nothing but stars, asteroids, and the cosmos. With a sigh, I turned back to where I was going, right as I flew head on into a massive, jagged-edged space rock. The stones cut deep into my eyes, sending a searing pain across my entire face. I wiped my eyes clean, and looked behind me.

    But something was wrong.

I saw nothing. All I saw was a pitch blackness for miles. My breath hitched in my throat as I stared dead into the black abyss in front of me. In a panic, I wiped at my eyes, hoping that it was only blood that blinded my vision. But it was not. The stone hadn't just cut me. It blinded me. I began to panic, when I heard the distant beat of wings. The guards would find me if I didn't move.

So, putting aside my current issue, I took off again, carefully making my way through the field by way of sound and touch. And I escaped. When I could no longer hear the dreaded sound of flapping feathers behind me, I plopped down on a piece of rock floating about in the middle of nowhere, finally able to catch my breath.

I was exhausted, my wings ached, and I was in immense pain. I softly brushed by claws over my eyes, wincing as I feel the deep cut burn under my touch. Inside, I knew this meant I would probably never see again, and that what I did would keep me from returning home again. So there I sat, on the lonely stone, staring off into nothing, knowing that I was alone.

But at least like this, I could be happy. No more discrimination or hate. Sure the silence would get annoying, but it was more inviting to my ears than the harsh words of the QuasarWings at home. And the blindness, I'd just have to get used to it. As long as I stayed out here, alone, I would be fine.

And there ya go. This took a good half hour to write. Also sorry I'm posting this late. It's literally 1:00 in the morning for me and I scrambled to get this done in time (I'm tired so I might not sound to enthusiastic right now). But anyways, hope ya like it!
