Poor and rich at the same time
In a humble abode, an old man resided alone. His dwelling consisted of just two rooms, and his sole means of survival was a small shop. This makeshift shop, constructed from four sticks and draped in polythene, featured a wooden desk at the entrance.
Despite his poverty, the old man stubbornly insisted that he was immensely wealthy. His claims became fodder for ridicule, and people dismissed him as mad. But the elderly and children alike clung to their convictions, and he remained steadfast in his assertion of affluence.
One day, a foreigner mocked him in the company of friends. The old man's anger flared, leading to a heated altercation. Just as the foreigner was about to strike, the police arrived, summoned by an unknown caller. The crowd explained the situation, and the officers turned to the old man, questioning his insistence on wealth.
With unwavering resolve, the old man revealed the truth. "My grandfather owned vast tracts of land," he explained. "Over time, land values skyrocketed, and now each parcel is worth crores. Yet no one wishes to buy them." He produced the land deeds as evidence. From that day forward, respect replaced mockery.
And so, paradoxically, the old man remained both rich and poor—a testament to the complexities of wealth beyond material possessions.
