There was a soft crackling of a fire that echoed around a large cave. The lighting was dim, just barely hidden in the corner of the cave was a small bed seeming to be made of animal fur. On the small bedding lay a wolf watching the cave entrance. The wolf had its tail wrapped around something hiding it from the view of any onlookers. 

The trees started to shake in the wind that seemed to start blowing softly. The wolf glanced at the fire that was slowly turning to coals. CRUNCH CRUNCH filled the once quiet air. The wolf shifted and sniffed the air seeming to test if it was friend or foe. The wolf pulled its tail closer and its fur rose slightly. The wolf seemed ready to leap at whatever entered the den. “It's just me love” a deep voice called as another wolf appeared. “Did the hunt go well?” The first wolf asked. The voice was soft and caring, seeming to be a female voice while the other was male. “It went as well as they ever do,” The other told her before entering the cave. The female smiled at him softly, “I am sorry it did not go well but if it makes you feel better the pups are fast asleep” She told him. He nodded and walked over, sitting in front of her.

Carefully she moved her tail away showing three wolf pups. The male leaned down to sniff each of the pups. Two of them were much larger than one. “The runt seems to still be going strong” The male murmured. The female nodded smiling down at the three pups. The smaller of the three shifted in his sleep turning so he was on his side and not one his back. “Just like how you sleep you can’t stand laying on you back” The female told him. “Luna I think we must split up for a short time” The male told her. “Jacob what do you mean?” Luna asked Jacob. 

He glanced back down at the little wolves sadly. “Firekill will be the next leader of the guardians. He may be the smallest of his litter mates but I see in him the flame of a leader.” Jacob told her. Luna nodded sadly understanding what he meant. “Bluefire and Burn will be sad when they learn that Firekill must leave them” Luna told him. “Then they must never find out it would be best if only Firekill knew” Jaocb told her quickly. Luna nodded and they looked back at the pups. “I had a dream love where I saw our son was here and he was grown up but he did not go by the name Firekill. They called him Fang and he looked like a normal dog not a wolf or even our true form.” Luna told him.

They both looked at the smallest pup once more. “His destiny has been chosen form him then love” Jaocb told her smiling. Luna nodded and pulled her tail back around the pups. “I don’t like knowing that the evil ones are out there” Jaocb whispered and looked back at the cave opening. Clouds started to form in the sky blocking out the moon. Very faintly thunder could be heard as the clouds rolled in. “Sounds like a storm is blowing in it would be smart to move to the den and not stay out here” Jaocb told her. Luna nodded and moved her tail once more and picked up Firekill by his scruff before standing. Jacob grabbed the Burn and Bluefire before following Luna father into the cave. 

The air around them grew colder as they left the more open area. They had only been walking for ten minutes before they took a turn down and fork and other turn to the left before heading down to a small cave. Splash splash drip drop was the only sound other than their claws hitting the cold stone floor. The pair walked over to another small spot full of furs and other things keeping the cold from getting into it. They gently place the sleeping pups in the bed before going to the stream that ran through a part of the cave. 

Luna and Jacob leaned down to the cold water and lapped at it. The cold water splashed at the stone and their paws. “I was worried when you went out that you would not come back and  would have to move the pups” Luna told Jacob lifting her head from the water. Jacob lifted his head and smiled at her softy. “I promised you I would keep you safe and I did love” Jacob told her smiling. Luna smiled a little also when he told her that. “I know but as a mother of three and your mate I have a right to worry about you” Luna told him. Jacob laughed softly when she said that “haha I know but I was raised to be strong and able to keep myself safe which is what I can do” Jacob told her before leaning over and nuzzling her neck softly. 

Luna leaned against him softly, enjoying the warmth of the other. The wind picked up and a strange scent suddenly was brought to them. Very faintly they could also smell the hint of the blood fell the air. “The pups!” Luna whispered before they shot off back to the pups. When the pair ran in they saw all Bluefire and Burn backing away in fear and a limp body lying on the ground. Two shadow figures stood not far away from the body. “Luna get the pups its the dark ones” Jacob shouted when the two shadows saw them and shot off. Jacob followed after them leaving Luna alone with the pups. 

Luna ran over to Bluefire and Burn checking on them. “Little ones are you two ok?” Luna asked bending down next to them. “F-F-Firekill h-h-he is hurt” Burn cried out and tears fell down her face. Luna got up and slowly walked over to the limp body scared of what she would see. She stopped and looked down at the limp body of Firekill. A long cut went from his side to his shoulder. Blood slowly dripped out of the cut. 

Luna reached down and grabbed Firekill before turning to her pups and making a wave motion with her tail. The two quickly ran to her side and followed at her heels scared for their little brother and what would happen. Luna lead the way out to a secret exit of the cave. “Keep close to me this leads to not a dangerous place” She told them even though it was muffled by Firekills scruff. They nodded and followed her closely out of the cave and down through the pathway. After what seemed like hours to the three wolves they saw the exit. Rain was coming down softly around it. All three shot out of the cave and found themselves outside a house. 

Luna looked around seeing that the place seemed to be empty for the moment. She turned to the other two who stood behind her confused and sacred. “For your own safely you must stay right here while I drop Firekill off. He can not come back with us or he will not make it” Luna told them softly sadness heavy in her tone. Burn and Bluefire nodded and sat down showing that they would not move. Sighing Luna made her way down to the house and placed Firekill down. Right was she was about to leave the door was yanked open and light poured over her. Luna froze and turned slowly seeing who opened the door. 

A giant bird stood at the door and looked down at them. “Lunarfire?” the bird asked her softly seeing the wolf. “Thats me Sheila I need you to take Firekill in and call him Fang make him believe he is normal dog. Please just keep him safe and heal him.” Luna cried to her friend. Sheila nodded and picked up the pup careful of his wound. “Thank you Sheila he will understand one day we all will” Luna told her before running off. 

Luna ran back to her pups and grabbed them quickly making them yelp with surprise. She looked back seeing Sheila watching her before walking in carrying Firekill into the home and shutting the door. Luna smiled and turned away running off not looking back as she ran. The moon shining over head and the wind in her fur she ran off.
