Straightening things out
It was early morning, the sun seeping into the mansion little by little. Doors were opening and closing, being signs that some of the Creepypastas were up and active. Some of course were still snuggled up in their beds, trying to get some rest thanks to their late night activities they endured.
Puppeteer however was not one of those Creepypastas.
He was sat up on his bed in the infirmary. His wounds all bandaged up and aching as his golden eyes stared out of the windows stationed there. EJ hadn't come in yet to check on him therefore he was left to his own thoughts. Thoughts about the events that had happen last night.
He remembered perfectly what happened. The skeletons flooding into the room, the wolves breaking through the glass door and DL trying desperately to keep everything tame. Helen trying to fight back as well as he could, Zero trying to smash every single one of those trespassers and Dina yelling for him to run and get help. And he ran, he ran and ran. His strings were useless against those pathetic beings. He couldn't do anything- he was helpless. Heck instead of telling Cyn what was going on when he saw her he ended up collapsing. His injuries too painful to ignore.
The door opened signaling that someone had entered- most likely EJ but Puppet still continued to stare out of the window. His golden eyes not once leaving the trees that spread out for ages.
"Puppet? How are you feeling?"
He closed his eyes, breathing in deeply and letting it out slowly, "a very interesting question EJ." He said softly, opening his eyes again, continuing to look at the view.
"I guess you could say I'm fine." He decided.
"There's breakfast downstairs if you're hungry. Nearly everyone's there, would you want to tell all of us what happened at Dina's?"
"I suppose so." Puppet replied, deciding that he likes this air of crypticness he's got going on and how it's effecting EJ.
"Right, well you know your way around so I'll leave the option for you." And with nothing else to say EJ got up and left, closing the door behind him.
Humming slightly Puppet then decided that it would be best to slip on his coat and beanie and perhaps wander around a bit. He knew he was going to stay here for a while, that part was obvious. So he may as well just remind himself of the layout of the area.
He walked out of the room, taking in the deep red velvet material that ran throughout the hallway. He began to walk, his footsteps easily concealed by the soft floor as thoughts buzzed around his mind. He explored the various of floors that constructed this mansion along with a few of it's wings and it was during this adventure that he encountered something... Interesting.
During his journey he felt a faint sense of loneliness, something he didn't expect from this mansion. And a good thing he didn't for he was now intrigued, curious for who the source was. He looked around more, now having a better objective but that feeling quickly faded making him decide that it was probably a good time to head for breakfast.
You would think that upon entering the kitchen you would be greeted with a wave of loud and disrupting noises.
Well you're correct for that is what Puppet was met with when entering. He couldn't help but wince at the noise levels, he almost forgot how rowdy these group of pastas could be. He spied the monochrome clown being Laughing Jack bothering EJ as Toby did the same to Masky who was trying to prepare breakfast. A boy with a mass of blonde hair that was capped off by a green hat which matched his tunic was trying to get his DS back from dear Jeff while a girl wearing a furry jacket watched on in amusement. She shifted in her jacket, turning the side of her face to reveal a clock in one of her eyes when taking note that Puppet was here.
"Hey Puppet." Said Clockwork simply, a little smile forming on her face.
He nodded at her in response and walked over to her, sitting at the table that was in the middle of the kitchen. Only a little time passed before he felt that sense of loneliness again, it was quite strong nearly making him mad as he wanted to capture that feeling but he needs to contain himself. He has to. He needed help anyways- plus this is a killer as well. He can't just manipulate them to be his proxy like he had done to Zach and Emery.
The door opened and in step Cyn with Neon trialing behind, a sheepish smile present on her face while a look of annoyance was on Cyn's. The two of them walked over to the table, Neon taking a seat and Cyn slamming her fist on the wood.
"All of you shut up, it's too early for this." She snapped. She then pointed to Neon. "Everyone, this is Neon. Neon, this is everyone."
A few of the boys stopped what they were doing to address Neon in some, a nod, a wave or even a simple stare. Neon just grinned and waved back in return.
"Awww Cyyyyn, why the bad mood? Wanna hear a joke? Will that help?" Pestered LJ now getting in her personal space.
"No."
"Okay! Knock knock!" Carried on LJ, a smile spread out on his face as he bounces on the balls of his feet.
"LJ, shut up. There's some stuff we need to discuss."
"Knock, knock!"
"LJ-"
"I said- knock, knock!"
A groan sounded from Cyn as she decided to appease the clown, "who's there?"
"Doctor!"
"Doctor, who?" She asked back, sounding bored. LJ just went into fits of laughter at her reply making her roll her eyes and ignore him. Instead she redirected her attention to Puppet.
"Are you ready to tell us what happened Puppet or do you still need time?"
"We'll get this out of the way then, shall we?" Decided Puppet now capturing the attention of everyone present. He cleared his throat"Last night we were attacked by Shadow Wolves and Bone Duelers-"
"Okay I know Shadow Wolves but what are Bone Duelers?" Queried Neon.
"Bone Duelers are sword fighting skeletons- extremely lethal and extremely respective to their art. So DL's been the only one to beat them." Explained Puppet, slightly irritated at being interrupted. However he was interrupted once more by Ben who let out a snort when hearing DL. Deciding to ignore that Puppet continued.
"Anyways. We were attacked by masses of those two creatures. My strings couldn't work on them therefore I was useless. Dina told me to run and get help but I was attacked by several winged demons, a few duelers manage to make their marks on me as well."
"You guys get duelers all the time though, right? They live in your part of the forest so why did they all of the sudden attack you?" Demanded a puzzled Toby.
"I guess you could say they were feeling bonely." Joked LJ, cackling at his pun.
"We don't know why they attacked us, nor do we know why the wolves joined them. The only answer I can think of is that Zalgo is now getting bored."
However Masky had other thoughts as he placed a bunch of food on the table, "or he's trying to send a message."
"And what sort of message is that?" Wondered Puppet, slight sarcasm woven through his words as he didn't think that was the case.
In response the masked man shrugged, "not a friendly one that's definite."
"Well if Zalgo had sent in his winged demons instead of any other species then of course it's not going to be friendly!" Said EJ.
Jeff groaned in annoyance with how the conversation is going, "it's Zalgo, don't tell me you expect bloody sunshine and fluffy bunnies."
"Actually I think I encountered some of those on my last mission." Piped up Neon earning some confused looks.
"Speaking of which..." Started Cyn slowly, her mind beginning to reel with all that's being said, "care to explain how you ended up being missing?"
"I was trying to get some information from one of Zalgo's people and then I somehow ended up in China."
"How does that even happen?" Questioned Ben, obviously not understanding how that was possible.
"I don't know. I had the files and was about slit the guy's throat and then BAM! China."
Even with that explanation Ben still managed to be baffled by what she's saying, "but.... that's... what?"
Jeff then decided to explain to Ben as if he was an idiot, "she's trying to say that she got teleported."
"But why China?!"
"Does it even matter?" Spoke out EJ, "she ended up China. It doesn't matter how and why."
"Well I think the why part matters." Argued Ben.
"Agreed." Spoke Cyn, "something must have been important in those files if Neon here was teleported to China."
"See?" Said Ben now acting rather smug, "I was right."
Cyn turned to face Neon, brow furrowed as she began to think, "can you remember why you had to get the files?"
Neon shook her head, "Splendy never told me why he needed them anyways. He said something about it being classified."
"Probably drugs." Jeff said, leaning back in his chair.
"Jeff, use your brain." Said Ben with a roll of his eyes, "it's obviously porn."
At that Neon narrowed her eyes at the two as Cyn hit them both on the head.
"Ow!" They both exclaimed.
"Don't be idiotic." She said, "you're wasting our time."
"What time? What do we have to do that's so important?" Wondered Jeff.
"Have you not been here the last few minutes?" Demanded a now annoyed Cyn, "Puppet was attacked by Zalgo's creatures, we need to find out what he intends to do before he attacks us."
"We have Slenderman, why would he bother?" Said Ben, earning a face palm from Cyn.
"I absolutely hate this mansion." She murmured, sighing slightly. "I'm leaving." She announced before turning her back on the killers and walking out.
"Never wanted you here anyways!" Called out Jeff, earning the middle finger from the scar eyed girl.
And just like that everyone resumed to their conversations that they were having before hand, a few people ended up leaving but Puppet didn't pay much attention, his thoughts much more distracting. He needed to find the source of that feeling.
Puppet walked over to Neon. Curiosity settling over him as he wondered if she was the one that was feeling lonely. He looked at her, taking in her brightly coloured hair and dark brown eyes that make up her being.
"I don't believe we've met before." He spoke, alerting her to his presence.
She turned to look at him, feeling rather uneased and on edge with him being there, but she decided to ignore it, "hi there!" She chirped, a smile brightening her features, "I'm Neon."
"Puppet." He responded, "you're hair is very.... Bright."
"Well I am Splenderman's proxy, being colourful is sort of in the rule book." She replied.
"I wouldn't have thought being an assassin would be in the rule book either."
"Yeah...." She said slowly, looking away slightly. "That's uh... A very complicated story."
He nodded, now not feeling all that interested as he noted that she wasn't the source of this feeling, meaning it was one the residents. He looked over at them, noting a few weren't present which made him wonder more if it was one of them.
Within minutes of being there he left once more, in search for the source. Neon watched as he walked off not getting good vibes off him, then again it could be the fact that she only just met him today.
"Amazing, you're still standing after talking to him!" Said someone. Neon turned to face LJ, a bright and cheery grin decorating his face.
"Yeah... He seems very-"
"Soul sucking? Stick in a mud? Dare I say it- boring?"
Neon giggled and nodded in agreement, "he also doesn't seem that friendly."
"No, he really isn't." Admitted LJ, his grin not once fading, "makes it even more fun to pull pranks on him."
Neon raised an eyebrow at him, her own grin forming on her face, "pranking you say?"
LJ took notice of her expression which made his turn more gleeful and devious, "I think this is the start of a brilliant friendship." He claimed, "c'mon, let's go." He grabbed a hold of her wrist and raced off with her keeping up.
"Seems like LJ's made a new friend." Commented EJ, cleaning up his breakfast.
"Ten bucks says that he'll fall for her." Called out Toby, grabbing ahold of his waffles, biting into them.
"Twenty says they end up together." Replied Jeff, throwing his knife up in the air and catching it again.
"Fifty says none of that happens." Sounded Ben, playing on his DS.
Jeff caught his knife and pointed it at Ben, "I'm holding you to that."
"Good. I hope you have a fifty ready then, 'cause I'm going to be right." Gloated the blonde, a small smirk forming on his elvish features.
"Ben being right about something would be scary." Said Toby earning a questionable look from EJ.
"Ben's been right more times then you have."
"....Shut up." Muttered Toby, going back to his food.
"What makes you think you're going to be right about this?" Wondered Jeff.
Ben shrugged, "she doesn't seem like LJ's type and I don't think she would fall for someone black and white."
"Including you Jeff!" Toby yelled earning the roll of the eyes from Jeff.
"I'm not interested in her anyways." He replied.
"Why would you? You're already with Cyn I don't think you would be that cruel Jeff." Joked Toby earning several chuckles.
"You take that back right now."
"What? Upset that I'm riiiight?" Pestered the proxy, now having way to much fun.
"Never in a million years would you be right." Said Jeff, " that bitch has screwed my life over one too many times. If I end up falling for her that means I'm dead and burning in hell." And now having enough of the conversation he got up and walked out, an air of annoyance trailing after him.
"Well I'm going to go and clean up the infirmary." Announced EJ, "Toby you're cleaning up the kitchen."
"What? Why me?!" He exclaimed however the sentence remained to be muffled as his mouth was full of waffle.
"You make the most mess." Said Ben as he stood up and left with EJ, his eyes not once leaving the screen of his DS.
Toby pouted, not happy about his current issue, "well love ya too." He grumbled.
