Blood stained the ground a bitter crimson red.

It dripped off of Kasai's swords as she stood there, smiling as she gazed at the now lifeless bodies of her friends...

...all except one.

Cory.

She laughed to herself as she slowly walked around, searching.

"Cory?  You know you can't hide from me."  Her voice was eerily, chillingly distorted to the point where it was unrecognizable.  "You know I'll find you."

She continued searching, keeping a slow, steady pace.  She could feel the blood soaking into her shoes, but she didn't care.  She was focused on one thing: murder.

Cold-hearted, cold-blooded murder.

Blue flames flickered off of her body and an equally blue glow wisped away from her eye.

She could hear faint, scared whimpering nearby.  She'd recognize that sound anywhere.

Cory.

She smirked and went towards the source of the sound and found him curled up, cowering away and resisting the temptation of licking the blood from the ground and bodies.  He looked at her and flinched away, his bright red eyes glistening with frightful tears.

"I found you." she whispered, chucking eerily and raising her sword.

"NO, PLEASE!  KASAI, THIS ISN'T YOU!  SNAP OUT OF IT!  STOP IT!  PLEASE!" Cory screamed, pleading for mercy.  His wails and cries only made Kasai smirk more.

"You should've seen this coming long ago."

She swung.

Suddenly, the vision changed.

Instead of her swinging at Cory, she was the one being swung at...

...by herself.

She screamed at the top of her lungs.

It was over as soon as it began.

Kasai jerked awake with a terrified scream, jerking both Cory and Breeze awake.  Breeze bolted to hide.

"WHO?  WHAT?  WHERE?" Cory said, leaping to his feet.  He stopped when he saw Kasai curled up in a ball, sobbing and crying.  He had never seen her so shaken in all of his life.

"No!  Please!  I'm sorry!  I'm sorry!  That's not me!  Please!" she whispered between indistinguishable Spanish words.  The air around her steamed.  She was on the verge of bursting into flames.

Cory quickly put his hand on her shoulder to calm her down.  She immediately froze, her eyes snapping open.

"Kasai?  Are you okay?  Calm down.  It was just a dream." Cory said comfortingly.

Kasai's tense body trembled with fear.  Her breathing was shaky as she continued to sob.  Breeze peeked out of hiding.

"K-Kasai?  Are you okay?" he whined.

The rest of the group quickly ran to the tent.

"What's going on in here?"

"Is everything okay?"

"Y'alright?"

"What happened?"

Kasai refused to answer any of the questions.  She was too afraid to speak, anyway, so Cory spoke for her.

"I think she just had a bad dream.  I don't know."

"It's okay, Kasai! It wasn't real!" Katie barked, going over to try to comfort the trembling phoenix, who just flinched away in complete fear.

"Well, this is a first. Never thought we'd have to comfort HER. Usually she's the one comforting everyone else." Flash said, raising an eyebrow.

"Whatever her nightmare was about, it must've been bad..." Zakk observed.

"I hope she's alright." Sasha said quietly.

"Maybe we should just leave 'er alone for now." Streak pointed out. "Give 'er some space and time to calm down."

Katie immediately scampered back to him. "Yeah, it's bad." she concluded.

The group looked at Kasai for another moment before leaving again, but Cory stayed by her side, rubbing her back gently.

Breeze whined and slowly went over, gently nudging her. "K-Kasai?"

"...I..." Kasai finally managed to whisper. Her voice shook.

"Shh, it's okay, it's okay." Cory whispered. Kasai just shook her head. It wasn't okay. This wasn't okay. This nightmare was even worse than the last. She was more scared than she had ever been in her life.

Cory gently hugged her and held her close to him, just like he had done before. He gently stroked her hair with one hand and rubbed her arm with the other in an attempt to calm her down. Finally, she slowly stopped trembling and her shaky breathing steadied out as her mind slowly came back to reality.

It was just a nightmare. Everyone was alive and well. There was no blood. She was still sane.

"There we go, that's better." Cory said gently. Kasai eventually managed to calm down completely, wiping away her tears.

"I-I'm sorry..."

"Don't be. It's okay. I understand."

Breeze whined. He knew how vivid nightmares could get. "...are you okay?" he said quietly.

Kasai took a deep breath. "...yeah. I'm okay."

He gave her another quick nudge before slowly leaving the tent to give her and Cory some time alone.

"..you sure you don't wanna talk about it?" Cory said quietly.

"...I'm sure.  It...it's best you don't know.  I don't want to scare you." Kasai muttered, turning away.

Cory sighed.  "...fine.  But if you need to talk, I'm here to talk."

He put his arm around her and gave her a quick kiss before walking out too.  She blushed and sighed, staring at the ground and repeating the nightmare over and over in her mind, remembering every detail.
