Chapter Twenty-Nine: Proposal

Evelyn was focused. Her eyebrows were crinkled and her gaze was lethal. She had a mission and getting a certain little asshole to bow down and submit to her is apart of said mission. The boy has too much mouth on him and she now knew how to solve that.

"The color is green." She smirked.

The boy nods and sifts through his deck with an equally focused gaze. Evelyn had also been quite the trash talker and he was finally going to lay all of that banter to rest.

"I knew your ass would do that." He chuckles. "Draw four mother fucker." He slapped down the wild card.

Evelyn's jaw dropped for a moment as she stared at the draw-four card in disbelief. The boy had played her yet again. He only holds four cards in his hand and with the card he just played, Evelyn will have six. Asshole.

"Fuck you George." Evelyn grits snatching four cards from the deck.

George snickered and shrugged before licking his lips with a wider smirk.

"Be careful what you ask for. Okay, love?" He gives Evelyn the once over and licks his lips again. "Be damn careful, Ev."

Evelyn rolled her eyes at George's mannish response. She was not going to allow his lustful glances to throw her off, this time. He had used that trick five times earlier in the game. It worked every single one of those damn times, but not anymore. No, not this time.

Evelyn is a strong woman and as a strong woman, she can handle George's lustful advances and kick his ass in this game of UNO.

"Either draw a card or forfeit the game." Evelyn finally responds with another eye roll.

George nodded and licked his lips again. Fortunately for him, Evelyn had changed the color to green and he had a train ready for her. He was definitely glad he convinced her to play this version.

"One green, two green, three green!" He slapped the cards down on the rising deck. "UNO in this bitch!"

That's it, Evelyn has had it. She throws her cards down and thrusts the cards off of the coffee table. She hates losing and especially hates losing to an asshole like George.

"Cheating ass." She grumbles as she stands to her feet.

George bursts into childish laughter as he watched Evelyn stomp into the kitchen. She warned him that she was a sore loser, but it is still a funny surprise. She played a good game, but it is obvious that he was dealt the better hand. Poor girl.

"Awe come on, Ev. Don't be like that." George teases through his laughter.

"Fuck you." She reiterates as she returns with a pack of peanut butter crackers.

George shook his head as he cleaned up the mess. When he noticed the snack in Evelyn's hand he paused and frowned.

"Who told you that you can have my crackers?"

Evelyn opened the package and shrugged.

"Your guilt for beating your girlfriend at UNO, asshole."

George stood to his feet and walked up to Evelyn. She had already plopped into the sofa and was looking at the blank television screen, watching it as if the black screen was far more interesting than her conversation with George.

George leaned over her and placed his hands on either side of her head, holding himself up with the support of the sofa.

"I don't have guilt, love. I won fair and square." He quips.

"Get outta my face. I want to eat without you being all over me." Evelyn mutters, tossing her head vehemently around George's body.

"Come to think about it, I could go for a meal right now, too." George leaned in. "Maybe that'll fix your attitude. Huh, love?"

Evelyn glares at George's and rolls her eyes before returning her attention to her crackers.

"Leave me alone, George."

George nods and stands to his full height. He stares at Evelyn for a moment, waiting for her to move. When she doesn't budge, George simply shrugs and snatches the crackers from Evelyn's hands.

"George what the fuck! You--"

"I don't give a fuck how bad you wanted that shit." He cuts her off. "I just told you that I want my damn head between your legs, love." His voice lowers.

Evelyn's glare remains the same, cold and hard.

"You're sick if you think... Give me back my shit." She grits.

George nods and tosses the packet into the kitchen. He waited for the packet to fall onto the ground before he returned his attention to Evelyn.

"I'm better than a damn pack of crackers, Ev." He sighs.

"George--"

"You know... If we ever get married." George finally squatted to Evelyn's knees. "I'd recite my vows twice." He licks his lips and smirks at Evelyn's wrinkled eyebrows.

"George what--"

"Once at the altar." He gripped Evelyn's exposed thighs. "Then again in the bedroom. If we even make it there." He smirks as he slides his palms up Evelyn's thighs.

Evelyn was speechless. George had an unromantic way with words that somehow seemed so, romantic. It could be that he was mentioning a wedding and vows. Or the fact that he was begging to taste her. Evelyn didn't know but she felt - maybe just in this moment - that she couldn't wait to find out.

"There's more though, Ev. I'll have my face between your legs... One letter on the tip of my tongue." He growls as he stops at her hips. "One letter at a time to tease the fuck outta you while you throb against my mouth." He grips the hem of her shorts before snatching them down her ankles.

Evelyn inhales sharply at the swift and sudden movement. She releases a shallow breath when George pulls her closer to him. She was already throbbing and all he was doing was talking. She definitely wants the real thing now.

"Hell, I'll write my name on this coño. Fucking beautiful ass coño." He rasps before taking a dive.

Evelyn jerked forward while she gripped for the couches shams only to clutch the air. George will be the death of her. George Tadeo Mills is the death of her. The last thing she comprehends before she blanks out is a rather incoherent: "Fuck UNO."

Evelyn smiled wide as she admired the brunette with the beautiful hazel eyes. The girl was smiling from ear to ear and had no clue that she would be smiling even harder soon enough.

"She's gonna shit bricks when she finds out why we're really having this park date." Slender fingers tangle with hers.

Evelyn sighed and remained silent. She smelled the boy before he even approached her. Today he smelled like Old Spice and Gain. She did not know why she always had to label his perfumes, but for some reason it either calmed her or enticed her.

Today his interesting scent calmed her. The Gain she is smelling is obviously from his clothes and he never neglects his Old Spice deodorant. Other than that, if she smelled anything else, it was all him.

"I still can't believe he's gonna do it. My man has grown up." He continues with a sigh.

Evelyn nods and glances at their hands before returning her gaze on the gorgeous brunette. This girl could be a model in Evelyn's opinion. The girl is slender and tall, with long dark tresses that flow down her back. She also has the most darling pair of hazel eyes and gorgeous sun kissed skin.

Evelyn has yet to guess the girls nationality or at least her cultural roots, but the girl is definitely not an average American girl. She looks far too elusive. Evelyn would even label her as exotic, respectfully of course.

"She's so pretty." Evelyn voices her thoughts.

"Yup. She's Cuban American and is definitely more Cuban than anything." The boy agreed.

Evelyn sighed and for a moment, felt insecure about being simply American. She may have kinky hair, but she is as African American as they come. Not that Evelyn is complaining, but she would love to have roots elsewhere.

"Ev, you okay?" He squeezes her hand.

"Yeah I'm fine. Just--"

"George do you know where Justin is? I'm tired of waiting for him." The gorgeous Cuban-American approaches the couple.

George releases Evelyn's hand to grumble about his best friends "tardiness" while fishing through his Jean pockets for his cellphone. Once he retrieves the device, he informs Justin that the group is waiting for him and he should hurry up.

George tried not to smile too hard when Justin told him how thankful he is to have George to be his future best man. George didn't reply in order to not blow his cover. When he slides his cellphone back into his pocket, he offers a smile to the hazel-eyed beauty and confirms that Justin is on his way.

In all actuality, Justin is hiding behind a tree that stands a few feet away from them. All the group has to do is walk North for a few minutes and they would find Justin. Of course, George was not going to tell the girl that.

"We should walk around a bit while we wait." George suggests after a moment of silence. "Right. Ev?" He steals Evelyn's hand again.

Evelyn nods aimlessly. Her mind is still elsewhere. This is so beautiful and the anticipation is getting to her. She feels like it is happening to her instead of her boyfriends best friends girlfriend. What a dream that is.

"I guess so. You know he moves at his own pace." The girl sighs.

George nods and leads the group away. He fights his smile as they near the designated tree. Evelyn tried to to create small talk with the girl in order to distract her as he sent "special signals" to his best friend.

Soon enough the group found themselves standing in front of the tree. George had pretended to tie his shoelaces while Evelyn coaxed the beauty into taking a picture near the tree while they waited for George.

"How many are you going to take Evelyn? I've been posing for hours now." The girl exaggerates.

Evelyn giggles and rolls her eyes.

"Just one more, Jessica." She nearly whispers.

Just as Evelyn was positioning her cellphone, Justin walked out from behind the tree and tapped the Jessica's shoulder. Jessica opened her mouth to say something, but Justin smiled and dropped to one knee.

Jessica frowned in confusion. She even looked to Evelyn and George for an answer, but when the couple simply shrugged, feigning ignorance, she sighed and returned her attention onto her kneeling boyfriend.

"Jess, you know I've never been good with getting the courage to do anything." Justin chuckled nervously. "But baby, you've changed that." He smiles.

Evelyn smiles at the two as Justin continued with his beautiful confession. She had just met the guy during Spring Break and never took him for the sappy type. He and George are too much alike, so witnessing George's best friend blink away tears as he proposes to his girlfriend is enlightening to Evelyn.

It forces the stupid little thought, that maybe George is the same. Especially when just the other day, he mentioned reciting vows, although it was for his own sexually explicit reasoning, it still made her smile.

Even though that road is a long way away from them, Evelyn would like to think that they could reach that road together. She is getting ahead of herself, but she wants her  and George to work. She needs them to work out.

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" Jessica's squeals reel Evelyn back to reality.

Justin had long slipped the ring on the girls finger and she was hopping in his arms. Tears were ruining her mascara as she tried to confess her own love for Justin, but she still looked beautiful in Evelyn's opinion. Evelyn thinks she'll make a beautiful bride as well.

"Hell yeah world! I'll be a doctor with a wife one day!" Justin proclaims.

George releases Evelyn's hand to join the couple in their celebration. Evelyn only stood and watched the trio smile and laugh together. She is truly happy for Justin and Jessica.

"Evelyn you were apart of this plan, too?" Jessica playfully shoved Evelyn.

Evelyn forced a smile before she could process it. She had blanked out and had obviously gotten caught doing so.

"Yeah. Sort of." She shrugs. "It was really the boys." She motioned to George and Justin.

The two girls turn their attention on the two boys in front of them. The best friends were hugging each other the way brothers - at least with these two - seem to do.

Jessica giggles as she turned to Evelyn. She wipes at her eyes before wrapping her arms around Evelyn.

"Thank you." She sighed into Evelyn's neck. "I don't even know you and you've done the most beautiful thing for me. Thank you."

Evelyn offered a genuine smile this time.

"You're welcome, Jessica. I just wanted to make sure the two fools didn't fuck up." She replies humbly.

The two laughed as they turned to the approaching boys. The boys walked to their respective girls and enveloped them into a hug. Of course, Justin held his new fiancée a little longer than George hugged Evelyn, and Evelyn admired that. She definitely wants to be that happy one day.

"You okay?" George squeezes Evelyn's palms.

The two had walked away as the newly engaged couple celebrated separately. George had noticed Evelyn's somber state and he hated it. Therefore, he pulled her to the side and offered for her to walk with him.

"I'm fine." Evelyn smiled.

She is telling the truth. She is fine, just a little envious of the engaged couple. She feels as if she should not be so envious, but she is. That is what is bothering her.

"Lie again, Ev." George stops them in their tracks.

Evelyn sighs heavily and glances at their hands. She hates to seem so emotional or even unreadable, but she's scared to tell George about her little jealousy. She would hate to scare him off because of her small fantasy.

"It's nothing really. I--"

"Evelyn just spit it out." George sighs.

"Want what they have." Evelyn admits. "Whatever it is, I want it."

That sent George to silence. He swallowed harshly and nodded. He does not know necessarily what Evelyn means by her words, but if it has something to do with what Justin just did, George does not want to think about that. He does not even know if he is ready for any of that. Lord knows he isn't.

"Not now, but... I don't know." Evelyn continues. "It's silly. I know, but it just looks so beautiful and... Shit I don't know."

George continued to nod at Evelyn's rambling. He didn't know what to say and her words were honestly scaring him. Did she want him to propose soon? Is she already planning their future? Is she in love with him? These questions were eating George alive.

It all led him to say one thing, one sentence without even thinking or using his native tongue:

"I'll give you that and more, one day." He pecked Evelyn's forehead.

George felt like he just signed his death wish. Maybe he did, but it didn't matter when Evelyn's small smile returned. He doesn't know why he even said such a thing, but he did whatever he needed to see her smile again.

Evelyn simply nodded and squeezed George's hand. She's didn't know what to say to that. She didn't even know if she wanted that to be a response. She didn't know if he was serious, but it didn't matter. He returned her small smile and the two ended their conversation there. They had a engagement to celebrate.
