Wedding Bells Above, Please Bless Our Love

The months that passed seemed blurred to anybody who wasn't Denki.

Last minute checks took up a majority of Denki's time when he wasn't doing anything related to STORM. Honestly, Denki was very glad he never became a hero. He couldn't imagine doing interviews like this while ALSO having a mentally, physically, and emotionally demanding job like a hero. Honestly, he was just glad he could show off his ring and have fans go bananas when he and Chase would kiss. He had been going through the RSVPs when he saw that Bakugo had accepted his plus one, giving a weary smile.

While it is true that Denki hadn't really forgiven Kirishima, a lot of his anger had faded. He offered Bakugo the option since ultimately, it was on Bakugo to choose if he wanted Kirishima there. Denki had lost enough interest in his 'grudge' against the redhead to mind if Kirishima was in the background. He also knew the redhead was probably subjected to enough isolation when it was revealed he was the traitor in the agency, and having personally gone through that, knew the redhead had probably learned his lesson. As the days to the wedding grew closer, Denki could only feel his nerves light up.

He had arrived at their hotel early, checking in and getting accustomed to the room, when Chase came in. He took a deep breath, stretching his arms up and falling back onto the bed. The couple had been driving for HOURS without stopping and it felt nice to finally be at their destination. Denki chuckled as Chase rolled around the bed, laughing until a fuzzy from the comforter tickled his nose and he sneezed, a cloud popping out of his mouth and poofing once it hit the wall. Denki laughed and turned away from the clothing rack, having hung up their suits, and made a running start towards the bed. Chase held out his arms, catching Denki's lean frame, and twirling their bodies so that Denki was against the mattress. The two laughed before they began to make love, christening their room with the sounds of moans and the stench of love.

Early the next morning, most of the heroes had arrived at the airport and awaited transport to the lodge. Kirishima's foot was bouncing, clearly worried, but Bakugo gently held his hand to ease his nerves. When the large bus finally arrived, most of the heroes were surprised to find Denki greeting them.

"Hey guys! So happy all of you could come!" Denki cheered as he jumped off the bus. Instantly, Shinso, Momo, Shoto, and Ochako all enveloped him in a hug. Everybody got a snug hug in, except for Kirishima, who backed away when Denki approached and gave him a firm smile. Denki understood the silent discomfort and gave a polite nod before turning to the rest of the group, "can I help you guys with-" that's when Pearson came out and put his hand on Denki's shoulder.

"You ain't lifting a thing! We don't want you pulling a muscle before your wedding!" Thomas nodded in agreement as he, Ariel, and Pearson began loading the bus with the heroes' luggage. Denki sighed and rubbed the back of his head.

"You guys really don't need to worry too much, I'm fine," Denki tilted his head cutely. Ariel rolled her eyes and pointed at Denki's neck.

"Chase already gave you a good enough workout, we can handle this," Denki went red and grunted.

"YOUR HAIR WAS MATCHING VANESSA'S THIS MORNING!" Thomas and Pearson both burst into laughter, while the heroes were left wondering what that meant. Having noticed the heroes' lack of understanding, Denki explained, "Ariel's quirk revolves around what she eats. Her hair changes color based on what she digests, you can put the rest of that puzzle together," Denki winked and turned around. It took a few seconds before sounds of understanding came from the group, with Jiro quietly saying that it was so 'punk rock' of the two girls to be so open about it around their friends. When the luggage was all loaded up, everybody hopped on and settled in for the hour long car ride. Denki sat near the front, humming as he checked his phone before Mina strode up to him.

"So, you nervous?" she questioned with a smile. Denki gestured to the hickey on his neck.

"Does it look like I should be?" he curled his brow and chuckled. Mina sighed dreamily and rested her head on her palm.

"Damn, who would've thought you'd be the first of any of us to get married," Shinso rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, he probably would've. I'd pop the question out of high school if things stayed as they were," Shinso commented off handedly, "though, I won't complain now, Things turned out for the best," held Monoma's hand, who merely rolled his eyes and chuckled.

"I am very glad as well, both us Shakespear buddies found ourselves nice men to whisk us away," Monoma winked at Denki, who laughed and nodded.

"That we did," Denki replied. Kirishima kept to himself the whole ride, having heard the conversation. He knew coming to this wedding was going to be painful for him, but at the very end of the day, Kirishima only wished for Denki's happiness. Chase was a good man with a solid head on his shoulders, and brought Denki so much more glee than either he or Bakugo had ever given him. Kirishima may always have a piece of his heart empty, but he would never dare to bear that hurt to Denki. Especially when he was about to be married. Kirishima simply sighed and gazed out the window, hoping this hurt would lessen with time.

They arrived at the lodge and each got settled, other guests having driven there and arrived in Denki's absence. One group of guests were Denki's family. Midoriya nearly crapped himself when Ereku appeared, nearly tackling the retired pro and asking a billion questions a second. Ereku, awkward yet poised, did his best to answer Midoriya before Todoroki pulled him away. The entire lodge was filled by the end of the day as everybody had arrived. The wedding was to take place the next day, and Denki and Chase were abuzz with delight to have finally gotten to this point.

When dawn broke the horizon, Denki and Chase immediately began getting ready. They started their day with some love making, because what else were they supposed to do first on their wedding day? Then, they ate breakfast. Bakugo, Pearson, and Denki's half brother Dean were the only ones up. The tiny group made idle chatter with the quiet mountain serving some natural ambience. Afterwards, the two did their morning routines before preparing for their wedding. By eight, everybody was up and getting ready. The shuttle bus to the venue was set to arrive at noon, so everybody was quick to get themselves fed and prepared. There was going to be a 'party hour' prior to the ceremony, where the guests would play some games and pregame the wedding with games and trivia. A majority of the heroes were ready when the shuttle bus arrived, everybody except for Kirishima. Denki had noticed the absence of his former friend and went to his room to investigate. He gently knocked on Kirishima's door, waiting for the redhead to open it. When he did, Kirishima nearly choked at the sight of Denki. He wasn't even dressed in his suit yet, but his hair and makeup were done.

Denki had his hair in a half updo, with a waterfall braid taking most of his hair away from his face except for his bangs. A simple white ribbon tied neatly in a bow held Denki's braid together at the back of his head. Denki had minimal makeup, with just a small amount of liner and a moisturizing lip tint that gave his lips a pink hue. Kirishima felt his throat close up as Denki walked into his room, the redhead closing the door behind him. Kirishima was quiet, not knowing what to say.

"I never really forgave you," Denki started. Kirishima merely nodded, seemingly numb to the revelation, "but, I am glad you're here," Kirishima was confused and looked at Denki. He took a deep breath before explaining, "I wrote 'Wolf in Sheep's Clothing' because I was so angry at you. I couldn't fathom just why you would stab me in the back that way, especially since it would've been the second time," Kirishima looked away again, trying not to focus, "but, after writing it, a lot of my anger just kinda vanished. I saw all those people support me, all those comments say how badass I was, how I remained strong through so much conflict. And, it felt so nice to be complimented like that," Denki then sat on Kirishima's bed, "until I remember exactly who I wrote it about,"

"What is your point?" Kirishima bit out. He knew he shouldn't really be mad right now, but he was. His veins were boiling with rage at Denki's words. Denki smiled at him and patted next to him. Kirishima hesitated, but did as silently told.

"Your words came to mind, about how I would've been your third. How you and Kacchan loved me," Denki leaned back on his palms, giggling, "which newsflash, would've been a longshot if Toshi confessed. We definitely had something, but were never official," Denki chuckled again before looking at Kirishima, "I came to realize that you never really handled your negative emotions properly. You always had this sunny disposition, it's why you and Kacchan work, you balance each other out in a way. You're an optimist, he's a realist. You're a people person, he's a 'leave me alone you extra' person," Kirishima gave a watery chuckle at Denki's Bakugo impersonation, "Kirishima, I realized that you're always the goodie guy. The one who smiles, laughs, brings joy and comfort through your jokes and hugs. So, I could only imagine how much your mind fizzed out when you experienced all those dark emotions at the hands of someone you loved. How, conflicting it must have been," Kirishima sighed and nodded. Denki looked at him and gave him a sturdy hand on his shoulder. The action spurred Kirishima to look at Denki, "I'm sorry I hurt you, involuntary or not. But, our past can't be changed. Right now, all we can do is live today as it is, and look to the future," he smiled gently and brushed Kirishima's cheek, giving him a small peck on the other cheek and getting up. He reached out his hand, "so, what do you say, friends again?" Kirishima had tears running down his face. He quickly stood up and took Denki's hand, tugging him into a firm hug. Kirishima nodded as Denki hugged him back.

"Thank you for being strong, Denki," he whispered before releasing the blonde, "I hope our paths continue to intertwine, as far apart as they may be," Denki laughed and gave him a gentle nudge with his elbow.

"You think I won't be back in Japan after this? I got a whole new fanbase there! We'll get to hang out a crap ton! I promise, I won't ghost you or anybody else again," Denki went towards the door, giving Kirishima one last glance and smile, before walking out. Kirishima quickly got his jacket and shoes on and made it to the shuttle, where everybody was waiting for him. Meanwhile, Chase and Denki were getting ready.

The 'party hour' went on for two hours, with games like cornhole, horseshoes, and 'who knows the grooms best' trivia taking up most of the time. There had been tiny hors d'oeuvres and light cocktails served throughout the entire thing. It was a very nice way for the heroes to get to know Denki's family and other friends from America. Midoriya had a blast talking with Denki's siblings, especially Seraphina, who's quirkless. When Vanessa came onto the tiny clearing with a microphone, everybody paused.

"Everybody! It's time! Let's all head to the ceremony circle~ Follow me, please!" Everybody was super giddy and idle with chatter as they all made their way down the tiny pathway. The clearing for the ceremony was beautiful, large Redwood trees towers over the venue, which was decorated minimally with white paper lanterns, ivy, and wisteria. Everybody took their assigned seats, waiting for the ceremony to start. Kirishima seemed a lot calmer, prompting Bakugo to lean over.

"You seem a lot better, what did Denki say?" Kirishima merely smiled and glanced at Bakugo. Just as he was about to answer, the music began playing and everybody got into place. Kirishima snapped his mouth shut and stood up with the rest of the crowd, watching as Denki stood at the base of the isle. Kirishima glanced at Chase, who had already begun to tear up at the sight of Denki at the foot of the isle. Kirishima gave a sad smile as he watched Denki walk down with Ereku and Venus. The ceremony was being officiated by one of Chase's cousins, so when Denki was at the altar and everybody was told to be seated, the young man seemed to have a bright smile.

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate these two lovely men in holy matrimony. My name is Tony, I'm Chase's cousin. I quite literally got ordained just so I could do this for him, as this little man has been one of my closest friends since diapers. It gives me great pleasure to see so many kind faces in the audience, rallying around this rambunctious bunch. Knowing so many people love and support these two gives me joy, and I honestly can't wait to get this party started. We know what we're all waiting for, so let's get it started," Tony began by holding his hand to the side and grabbing a bottle of what looked like vintage liquor, "now, for anybody who doesn't know. This is the Doodle Family Whiskey Tradition, marrying into the Doodle family means you are marrying into a family of bat shit crazies. My aunt, Chase's lovely mother, is the odd exception. But, just as all Doodles have done before, I bring forth this beauty!" Tony breaks the seal as Pearson and Thomas each place a crystal glass with one singular ice ball in it on a stool in front of Tony, "as tradition states, you two must chug this together. I ain't taking no prisoners, y'all ain't piss babies," Tony poured heavy into the two glasses, quirking the bottle back up and handing each groom a glass, "we chug on three, I want the whole crowd in on this bitch," the entire crowd lit up, "Ready: ONE, TWO, THREE!"

Both Denki and Chase clinked the glasses together and chugged the whiskey down. They both finished at the same time, clinking the glasses together again before placing the glasses on the stool. The entire crowd erupted in cheers.

"Holy fuck, that's strong," Chase mumbled, his cheeks now rosy. Denki laughed into his bouquet and gently brushed Chase's face.

"You did good, baby," Denki encouraged, making Chase smile and kiss his palm, getting more whoops from the crowd. Tony began clapping his hands above his head.

"Alright! Alright! Denki did it! So, spiritually, that means you're now a Doodle! Unfortunately, legally, it still don't mean crap! So, let's get the rest of the show on the road! It's time to break out the vows! Typically it's the groom who goes first, but since you're both grooms, I decided top goes first. So, Chase," he gestured to Chase while the whole crowd laughed, "that means you," Chase blushed and chuckled, coughing to clear his throat. He took a deep breath and looked into Denki's eyes.

"Denki," he began, quieting everybody down, "I know sometimes things are hard. We have hit a lot of bumps in the road, and we have been through storms that weren't all too pleasant to be caught in," he took a breath, "but, at the end of all those rough times, you always were right by my side. We both grew from those teens we once were, we became men. We became who we are, and we helped each other through that. We explored experiences together, discovered ourselves together, and became ourselves together. And, as we continue to age, I know we will continue to do it together. As we once sang back in our senior year of high school," he coughed and Denki began laughing, "'You are the apple to my pie, the straw to my berry, you're the smoke to my high, and you're the one I want to marry'," he coughed again and looked to the crowd, "you can all see why he's the lead singer," he nodded towards Denki, who burst into laughter as well as the rest of the crowd, "at the end of it all, Denki, I will never stop loving you. You are my infinity, I love you forever and always," Chase began to tear up, which Denki responded to by cupping his cheeks. He also began to tear up, smiling brightly.

"It's the bottom's turn," Tony reminded as he turned towards Denki, "you're up, Denki," Denki gave a small giggle as Chase went to wipe his cheek. Denki instantly stopped him and laughed.

"I forget to wear waterproof eyeliner,"

"You're wearing white, I'm wearing black, it's fine," Chase reminded, using his sleeve to gently rub away the smudge, "you're lucky it clumped," the crowd giggled at the playful banter. Denki looked to Vanessa, who gave a thumbs up.

"Ok, ok, I'm ready," Denki coughed, silencing everybody, "Chase, when we collided on the pavement my first day of high school, I would have never guessed it would lead me to here," he looked out to the audience, "True story, by the way, we did a full 360 flip over each other," he then looked back to Chase, "From that minute on the pavement, to you showing me to our shared class with Ms. Rowdy, and all of our other bandmates, this event may as well have been sealed in stone. You were everything I ever needed, even in times when I didn't know what I needed. You have given me everything I have: a career I adore, friends who may as well be my family, and all the love I could ever need. You are imaginative, kind, strong, and intelligent. Despite how I may have looked or acted, I was a broken boy when you first met me. I had suffered trauma, and my heart and mind were tattered and torn," Denki sniffed as he blinked tears away, "you fixed me, you repaired that damage, and reinforced those repairs with your unconditional support. We have had a few bumps in the road, and our path has gotten rocky at some points. However, at the end of the day, know that YOU are the man I will always come home to. You are my home, and for all that it is worth, I will love, protect, and want you for the rest of my life. Fate brought me anguish, only for you to bring me joy. Thank you for loving me this much, I would have never made it this far without you to carry me. Now, I hope to be the one to carry you," Chase had begun crying, leaning his face onto Denki's shoulder and hugging him, "honey, you have a hanky, don't use me as a tissue," Denki joked, getting Chase and the audience to laugh. Chase stood up straight, Denki wiping his tears and giving him a peck on the nose. Tony also wiped his face, giving a brief sniff before coughing to clear his throat.

"Beautiful vows, let's ring these men up!" Pearson and Vanessa each came up with rings, "now, Denki you'll go first, repeat after me," Denki nodded as he gently grabbed the ring from Vanessa, "'I, say your name,'"

"I, Denki Kaminari,"

"'Take you, groom's name,'"

"Take you, Chase Doodle,"

"'To be my lawfully wedded husband' and then slip on the ring,"

"To be my waffely," Denki shook his head, "Lawfully," Chase began laughing, "I apologize, the whiskey just hit me," Denki giggled while Chase lost his shit laughing, collapsing to his knees. The whole crowd laughed at Denki's expense for a few minutes before everybody settled down, "ok, let's try this one more time," Denki bit his lips and shook his head while Chase chuckled, "To be my lawfully wedded husband," Denki slipped the ring onto Chase's finger.

"'To have and to hold'"

"To have and to hold,"

"'Until death do us part,'"

"Until death do us part," Denki smiled and kissed Chase's hand. Tony then turned to Chase.

"You ready, Cloudy?" Chase rolled his eyes but nodded. Pearson gently put the ring in Chase's hand, "'I, say your name,'"

"I, Chase Doodle,"

"'Take, groom's name,'"

"Take Denki Kaminari,"

"'To be my lawfully wedded husband' then slip the ring on,"

"To be my lawfully wedded husband," Chase slipped the ring onto Denki's finger.

"'To have and to hold,'"

"To have and to hold,"

"'Until death do us part," Tony clapped and smiled.

"Now, all the schematics are out of the way, there's only one thing left to do," he looked between the two with a smile, "as officiant, it is my honor and pleasure to announce," he stuck his arms out, "you are now husbands, you may kiss your groom!" Chase instantly dove into Denki's space, hoisting him up and kissing him. Denki instantly hugged Chase's neck, deepening the kiss and applause roared from the crowd. The two separated and Chase let Denki down, the two holding hands and running down the aisle. The crowd kept clapping and cheering, happy for the young couple. Bakugo nudged Kirishima, noting how the redhead seemed at peace.

"So, what was it that Denki said?" Kirishima glanced back to Bakugo and then down the aisle, where he could see Denki's bright smile as he faced his now husband.

"That he'll always be there, and we won't have to worry about ever losing him again," Kirishima gave a fond smile, "ironically, I think that those are the exact words I needed to here. I'm at peace knowing Chase is going to look out for him, aren't you," Bakugo gave a empathetic smile, looking at Denki as well. Kirishima let one singular tear fall, still gazing at Denki, but now with a full understanding of just how far the bridge between the two had spread and accepting it.
