"Remember me"

Luca hugged Alberto for the last time that summer. He climbed aboard the train and smiled with tears in his eyes at Alberto reaching out as if to somehow hang onto him a moment longer.

"Though I have to say goodbye"

Alberto ran faster and faster until the train was going too fast for him to catch. He smiled and whooped and hollered until Luca was gone.

"Remember me"

The rain pounding on the train windows only made Luca more homesick. What if Alberto forgot about him and found someone else to spend the next three seasons with?

"Don't let it make you cry"

Alberto was frozen to his spot, tears running down his scales. When Signor Massimo came over next to him, he buried his face in the older man's shirt. He didn't care if he looked like an idiot.

"For even if I'm far away I hold you in my heart"

That night, Luca fell asleep with the scent of salt and cedarwood on his shirt. The smell of Alberto's clothes. Only a few tear stains soaked into his pillow.

"I sing a secret song to you each night we are apart"

Signor Massimo played a record when they arrived home. A song about never truly being apart if you were willing to wait for someone's return. Alberto decided as he laid in bed that night that he would wait. He would loathe every second, but he'd do it.

"Remember me"

Days passed with Luca and Alberto never growing far from each other's minds. Soon, it was time for Luca and Giulia to pack and go home again!

"Though I have to travel far"

Alberto waited at the train station for an hour to make sure he wouldn't miss Luca's train arriving.

"Remember me"

Luca hugged all the letters he'd received from Alberto to his chest and waited anxiously to arrive. He couldn't wait to be home!

"Each time you hear a sad guitar"

A guitarist sat on the train station a little ways from Alberto, playing love songs for anyone walking by. Finally, the whistle blew and the train arrived!

"Know that I'm with you the only way that I can be"

"Berto?" That voice. He'd know it anywhere. It was-

"Luca!!"

"Until you're in my arms again"

Alberto dashed through the crowd and swept Luca up in his arms with a grin. "I missed you!" They said in unison.

"Remember me"

"I have a present for you," Luca said shyly once Alberto set him down.

"Ooh! What is-" Luca squeezed his eyes shut and leaned in, quickly closing the gap and gently kissing Alberto.

"Us."
