Hello, stranger. What brought you onto this chapter? Maybe you have grown sick of just reading words and you wish to see more of the designs that are a part of the "Glory in War" Series, or maybe you wished to discover more lore behind it? Or maybe you just got bored and decided to see what I have put into this book because "wHY nOt?".

No matter the answer to this question, welcome to one of the first designs of the world present in the series. And being the first designs to be ever shown here, I have decided to start it easily and not confuse you with some other complex ones. (That and I am pretty lazy to draw the characters and the concept arts of the environment. What can I say? I am just a human.)

In short, what I am going to show you now are the symbols that represent the popular titles present in the series, those being the military bases, clans and so on. So, let us start, shall we?

◇ "Glory in War" 's species - Life Anew

Since we are talking about the "Glory in War" Series as a whole, we can start with the first ever names shown in the world: Creators, Immortals and Renaissance. Being the most popular subject and the most important in the series, it is pretty obvious that they are the ones who deserve to be shown first.

So, what are those names? For those who have forgotten, these three are the names of the three races present in their world. The Creators (or C borns) represent the beings who are able to create anything out of thin air with their powers, having a special colour at the end of their hair and in their eyes that represents them with these blessings; the Immortals (or M borns) represent the beings who (it is obvious from their name) are blessed with immortality; and the Renaissance representing the R borns, beings who have not gotten any blessing. These are the details shown in the story and the same details that I will leave here in case you wished a little summary.

Now that you have remembered, let's explain how did these symbols come to be. Going back into their history, around 250 years ago, the Great War between the C borns and M borns has started which led later on to the days of the present in the series. Before the end of the war, the M borns and the C borns had totally different symbols to represent themselves as their own kind, but they were changed after the war was declared finished.

The Renaissance didn't exist back then, as only 5 years after the war ended, M1NERV4 has killed the General of the M borns and given birth to the group which disobeyed to the new rules of society implemented by General 4RTHUR. Only after Her death, the symbols have been updated completely, being the same as in the photo above. The C borns and R borns have declared themselves "untold allies" since M1NERV4 was an R born who has helped the C borns, while the M borns had the concept that the R borns are neutral and do not matter much in the conflict.

As you can see, both C borns and R borns have two small horizontal lines which represent their alliance, as well as a taller vertical line next to their symbols. The taller line doesn't mean anything in particular in the present days, but it is an old detail from the previous version of the C borns' symbol which used to represent "land". In an old saying, the word "land" was used in the description of a living being: "As long as you are on our land, you will forever remain one of us. A living being."

On the other hand, M borns have two tall vertical lines in their symbol. Despite the old meaning of the line, here it represents the separation between themselves and all the other races. Besides that detail, there can be seen a vertical line and a horizontal line combined under the symbol of "M". In their perspective, it is meant to represent that they are above the mortal beings, detail which was added after the death of General 4RTHUR.

◇ Crevaaria Clan - Haaven'tovulhay (Heaven's promise)

And since we have started with the races, let's include the beings that are seen as different people than them by all other beings: the crevaators. The Crevaaria Clan is shown as a merciless group of people in the series, people that like feasting themselves on flesh and terrifying the innocents. But despite those details, in the story, they are still normal beings that can be included as R born, M borns and C borns.

Details on the symbol that represents them are lost in the past however, being the oldest clan alive till the present days. Some of the historians that have recorded the existence of this clan say that the symbol was meant to represent the world of Hell, with the symbol showing one of the primal demons, Zhovythdag, the Demon of Death, described in the old myths recorded throughout history, being older than thousands of years. Others say that the symbol is supposed to represent a huge gate that opens for its followers, which is seen to be similar to the old drawings of "The Gate of Afterlife".

◇ XANTH3 Clan - The Golden Light of the Suns

We will continue now with the clans present in the Council, starting with the XANTH3 Clan. The XANTH3 Clan is one of the first members of the Council, being present at the birth of the military in the Underground City, even when the city was still in early development. The clan is responsible of the trades that include the accepted currency, Verha and Novha, since they are the creators behind them. Even so, besides the fact that they have created these usable devices, the clan itself didn't have much history behind until their creation. It was founded by XANTH3 LUCAS the First in 1396, a year before the Great War has begun. Back then, the name "XANTH3" wasn't as well-known as in the present days, being only another C born of the world. But after the creation of the Novha currency, named after the Goddess of the Suns, Nova, the clan has risen and continued to create these money, even after the death of XANTH3 LUCAS the First.

As for the symbol, the clan is represented by two circles which symbolise the two suns, as well as a smaller circle that stands alone, being the moon. The curves around the circles represent the land and its nobility, or the rich home in which these beings live, while the lines under the suns simply represent the golden light, the gift of the suns.

◇ EZR4H Clan - Gift of the Moon

The EZR4H Clan is one of the youngest but important clans in the Underground City, founded in 1489 by the first Clan Leader, VIKESH EZR4H, with the title being later on moved into the hands of YANIS EZR4H in the early 1593. Though the concept behind it at its early ages was not to create a whole clan from the start and only organise a group of people that can help out with bringing resources of the outside into the city, the idea was later on praised by the citizens and named them an unofficial clan, taking the title of an actual clan a few years after. It doesn't have much history behind its name, but it is one of the resources of survival and development for the Underground City, as well as a source of historical discoveries since the clan finds a lot of corpses during their missions.

For the symbol, the EZR4H Clan is using the moon as the center of the symbol, opposite to the XANTH3 Clan, but they also use the other two suns as well, being the smaller and equal circles. It is said that the connection to the moon of the suns represents the balance of life, meaning that one without the other will lead to disaster. This is the true gift of the gods.

◇ Central Base - Power Illuminates Our Path

And now that we have finished with the important clans, let's start with the bases as well. The first one I would like to show is the Central Base, being in command Leader OSKAR EM3RY, and their purpose in the city being of creating all the weapons, strategies and everything regarding a battle for the other soldiers. Though the reputation of this base is pretty positive when it comes to the views of the normal citizens, the history behind the base is a bit more complicated than that. In the story, the Central Base is described as an unpleasant environment by the former soldiers of it, describing how the high titles use the lower ones in order for them to get their jobs done and take all the credit, while they simply "play games or just kill the time". Though the details of why it led the Leader to leave everyone be like this in the base itself are unknown, it's not hard to say that this member of the Council is not really the favourite person of anybody in the room. Still, the history behind this base remains a mystery for us to solve, as there are no people who remained to tell what was the base like before besides the current Leader.

The symbol of the base is pretty simple to explain. The two swords represent power, while the circles represent the two suns in the middle and the moon above. The suns have the the meaning of illuminating the path during the war, since in the Great War, all the battles were taking place during the day. The moon is seen as faith in a better tomorrow, a reason why it appears in the symbol.

◇ North Base - Bright Salvation in Darkness

On the total different side from which the Central Base stands, the North Base remains as one of the most hard-working bases out there. The one responsible of the building is EWAN M1SH4M, the oldest member of the Council as a person in the room. Being the first and only Leader of the base throughout history, M1SH4M is one of the kindest people of the Council, putting aside that he is also the one behind the idea of saving the C borns trapped in the City of Above or anybody convicted by the General. As for the reason why he has decided to enter the Council, as hard to believe as it sounds, he is actually the very person that came up with the whole concept of uniting the soldiers existent at that time, including the Northwest Base, the East Base and the XANTH3 Clan, the people on which the citizens depend on every single day for hundreds of years now. The other bases didn't exist at that time, so they have joined only later alongside the Great Leader Himself.

The base's design describes pretty well its purpose as well: saving others in need. The design shows a hand giving the "salvation" to the other. In older myths, "salvation" was described as a small sun that has three sunshine, the three sunshine representing the actual two suns and the light of the moon. The culture focuses a lot on the belief of these natural elements, either representing the old and first gods or a promise of life. 

◇ Northwest Base - Justice Never Lies

And speaking of the Northwest Base, the base responsible of justice in the entire city, let's talk about it for a second too. The base was founded in the early years of the Underground City by I0AKIM, the first Leader of the Northwest base who died early in life at the age of 57 because of the Vitthora Illness. After his death, the descendant of the title, who was said to be I0AKIM's childhood friend by some people, has established many of the current rules in the Underground City, as well as considering the base a member of the Council when the Council was first created. After some other people having the title, it led to MARVIN N3MES1O being the current and youngest Leader present among the members today.

Their symbol represents the sword of justice, or "The Sword that Judges", being combined by the help of an alliance with the moon and the two suns at the same size with the meaning of "The gods will decide your fate". It is a well-known symbol by the whole Underground City because of history, led by the sword being the most used and trusted weapon during the war.

◇ East Base - Heavy Shield for the Weak Hand

As well as the Northwest Base, the East Base is also one of the first members of the Council. Just like M1SH4M, MAXWELL R4YMOND is the first and also the current Leader of his own base, being the second oldest member of the Council besides the XANTH3 Clan. His building is responsible of protecting the entrances towards the City of Above, making sure that the enemy doesn't enter the underground at any costs. If it will happen, it would lead to war and people being mercilessly killed once again, so it is obvious why he is so important to the city. As for the history behind the base itself, it isn't much to say. R4YMOND simply protected the city for hundreds of years without failing any bit of it.

The symbol representing them is similar to one of the old shields used in the Great War. Though the design is pretty simple, with the two suns still being present in the middle of the shield, the shield itself was one of the most used ways of defence during battle. "Heavy shield" is said to mean "protection", being used only by those who are able to defend others.

◇ South Base - Thousand Eyes of the Shadows

Since we spoke about the East Base, it's fair if we speak about its oldest partner in business, that being the South Base. Though the South Base didn't exist at the creation of the Council, being one of the youngest bases in the Underground City, ALLINA M4EK0 managed to prove that "young" doesn't necessarily mean "uncapable". Her and R4YMOND know each other personally, so it would make sense why they are partners, but it also makes sense for them to be partners because they both are involved in the job inside the City of Above. While the East Base only protects the entrances, M4EK0 and her people are responsible of investigating the situation above, as well as everything regarding the M soldiers' potential missions and secrets.

Being the base that brings information from the above in the Underground City, the symbol represents an eye with the suns as replacement. Its meaning can vary from "The Eye of the Truth" to "The Eye that is All-Seeing", with the suns having the meaning of battling the darkness of lies. Some people say that the phrase "Thousand Eyes" comes from the light given by the suns as the light has no limit.

◇ Southeast Base - Our Gods' Truth

But if it was for the South Base to be responsible of investigating the City of Above, what's the purpose of the Southeast Base? Historically speaking, the Southeast Base is the newest base created in the Underground City, having very few years in the Council and in protecting the city in its way. The first ever Leader of it was AL7AN, a man which in the story is said to be CHE5TER's old master. However, older members of the building say that the Southeast Base was created BEFORE Mr. AL7AN got the title. Some even theorised that the base is actually older than it seems, but it was titled an official building only after AL7AN became the Leader. The meaning behind their existence is vague till this day, but with CHE5TER coming as the new Leader, the base started collaborating with the North Base and has done everything that is shown in the story.

Their symbol is also vague, as nobody knows what exactly it is meant to represent. The title is totally the opposite to what it is shown, as in the symbol it brings lies rather than the truth itself. The silence gesture of the unknown figure has nothing to do with the gods or their truth. People just speculated that the symbol is suppose to mean an old image of an actual god who was lost in history, but nothing proved that theory.

◇ The Great Leader of the Underground City - The Stars are telling Our Story

Last, but not least, it would be impossible for me to not talk about the icon title of the whole series, the Great Leader of the Underground City. Though it doesn't represent a building nor a clan, this title represents one of the most powerful beings alive in the Underground City, or by RY4N's words: "...this title is suppose to represent a "god" ". Most of the details about this title are shown in the series, keeping the mystery behind it but also showing the reader a point of it. It isn't much to tell other than the fact that this title has been created during the revolution, even though some say that the legendary God of War was supposed to have that title as well. If it was for me to explain everything, then what was the purpose of the story if not keeping the thrill?

While the other symbols focus more on the belief of the first gods, the symbol of the Great Leader focuses more on the belief of the stars' power. Though it still contains the two suns and the moon above, the stars are a priority in its design unlike the others'. The culture itself doesn't have many meanings behind the stars though, it is only believed that they represent hope in darkness. But what's stranger, people do not know what exactly the fourth circle under the star is supposed to represent. Some theories say that the circle is supposed to be their planet, while others believe in a fourth existent and unknown power... like a world that is not part of theirs.

But that's pretty much everything regarding the symbols of this chapter. While I doubt the symbols had any impact on any of you, I hope at least the lore that was explained here was at any help. No, I didn't give any spoilers. In fact, I stood as far as possible from any spoilers from the series. You will see in the future that most of the information shown here is not even mentioned in the story as it doesn't even matter to the series. It just helps expanding the lore of what you already know from Chapter 4 (Part 1) after the introduction of every single base and adding some more facts behind the titles. Very few things from this chapter will actually be shown since most of the details are a matter-of-course, so do not worry of me spoiling the fun.
