Being Left Out: Jack
This morning, I had the pleasure of being woken up by the soft panicked whines of Jack, which of course is rare for a dog of his breed. Jack is an Alaskan Malamute and Australian Shepard mix, which would explain why he terrorizes squirrels without hardly saying a word.
Why he was whining was due to mom and dad leaving with Izzy and Peabo to get them seen about at the vet. For the past couple of days, Peabo's been limping around with his right hind leg acting up due to one of his claws. Originally, mom was concerned about Izzy's health, but with Peabo not doing well, he had to go out as well.
Since both little dogs were going out, Jack felt excluded and seems rather vocal about this. I petted him for a time to try and calm him down. When that did not work, I let him outside to try and help him calm down, but surprisingly, he only stayed outside for a short time. Even going so far as going after a squirrel briefly while he was out there, before he realized that Izzy was not there to alert him of the small creature. Usually, he would be out there much longer and no matter how hard I try to get him in, he does his own thing.
Until the others return, Jack's just looking out the window and staying close to the door, hoping to see the rest of the pack soon. It is rare that Jack goes to the vet due to his size, and he usually just goes to get a checkup due to how big he is compared to the smaller pups.
