IV - Now my favourite colour is blue 6
Two days later, Phayu sat at the table of the café that he had commandeered, in the farthest corner, fingers restlessly drumming on it. Yesterday's revelations had evoked a visceral reaction in him, and he had been unable to control himself, hurtling out of the house and transforming, and then just running. The Alpha wolf in him was in pain, yet there was so much anger, and his Lycan was clamouring for release as well. He had run for God knows how long, feeling his family's worry through their pack bond. But they had let him do his thing. They understood what he must be feeling would be a thousand times worse than what they were feeling. This was his mate and mates were the most sacred beings. He had come back to the house and gone straight up to his room, shooting off a message, knowing that it had to be said. How he would say it would be a worry for a future Phayu.
Something ugly churned in his gut as he watched Khun Type walk into the café. He raised his hand in greeting, and Type made his way towards him. Phayu immediately stood up and waiied. "So! You and Rain finally talked huh?" Type asked. "Yes Khun," Phayu said, smiling, thinking about his sweet boy. Type saw the smile and was even more convinced that Phayu was serious about his son. But he was also wondering why he was here. "Khun, Rain told me everything about himself, including his childhood," Phayu said, noting the way Type's expression shuttered. "As his mate, his Alpha and his partner, as well as someone who belongs to the biggest mafia family in Thailand, I hope you know that I reserve the right to avenge my mate, my Omega. But the situation is far too complicated for it to be a simple revenge, which is why my fathers wanted me to research everything I could about my target. And we found somethings that make it impossible for me to move on without sharing them with you."
Phayu picked up a folder that lay on the seat beside him and slid it across the table towards Type. The older man picked it up without a word and opened it. Phayu saw the way his expressions changed from being defiant to being resigned to being shocked, and finally, Phayu saw the expression he wanted to see; anger. "Are you sure about this Venice?" Type asked, his fury barely controlled. For a moment, Phayu was reminded of his Pa. Khun Type held himself back with the same casual restraint his Pa did. He nodded. "Yes Khun. We found everyone involved. There is no mistake," he said. Type began reading the documents again, as if memorising each word, his heart breaking. How the hell was he ever going to face Tharn? He had spent more than half of his life with the man, his Alpha and his mate, the man who had become his everything. Type had been 10 years old when his mother had packed him off to Bangkok, to her best friend's house; Tharn's mom's house. Tharn had understood that Type was his mate at 18, but he had never acted on it, allowing Type to choose his own path. He had been surprised one night when Type had crawled into his bed, all but begging a claim. Type had never regretted that day, that moment. He would give anything in his life to relive his moments with Tharn. But how was he going to tell the man he loved above all else, what had happened?
"Tell me everything," Type said. "Ro found the man who damaged the brakes on the car. He said that he was paid to do so. We found the transactions as well, as you can see," Phayu said. "But why them? They were not party to this," Type said, his voice cracking. "Actually Khun, they were not the target. Your husband, Khun Tharn was. The man who took the money said that he was asked to damage Khun Tharn's car, but got confused because your husband and his brother had similar names. Khun Tharn was called to an event and a vehicle was sent to pick him up, so he never needed the car. But his brother decided to bring it to do some shopping. His wife and sister accompanied him, and that what happened. The brakes failed, and they died on the spot," Phayu said. "But I still don't understand why he would even target Tharn," Type said. "Khun, according to this person, there was another person involved, a man named Atid. We found Atid in Bangkok. Atid's sister was in love with you. When you married Khun Tharn, she was apparently heartbroken and went a little mad, desperate to have you in her life. They had thought that if Khun Tharn dies, you would be forced to come back home, where your father would get you married to Atid's sister. Later, Rain was kidnapped. They planned to kill him, so that it would break the bond between you and your Alpha, losing a child," Phayu said.
Type stared out of the window, his mind a jumble of emotions, unable to form a coherent thought. But one emotion stood out loud and clear. His mate and his child. His mate and his pup needed to be avenged. He looked back at Phayu. "You have my permission to exact whatever revenge you need to. But give me 24 hours. I need to show this to my husband and beg for forgiveness. Then I want to join you," Type said. "Khun..," Phayu trailed off when Type put his hand on Phayu's. "Son, might as well make it Pa. It's gone well beyond Khun now," Type said, smiling tiredly. "Does Papa work? Pa is for mine," Phayu asked, looking sheepish. Type smiled more genuinely this time. "It absolutely does," he said. "So Khun.. no.. well.. Papa, I understand where you are coming from, what you are thinking. But my methods are.. unorthodox, to say in the least," Phayu said.
Type laughed, a little easier in the heart. "I know you are the Mafia son. I knew your parents long before you were born. It's not hard to know what methods you would use. But I want to see him hurt, the way he hurt my husband and son. I could forgive him, even if not completely, for Rain, because I got him back. But Tharn and his parents lost everything. And for that, I will never forgive my father," he said. "Okay Papa, please keep me informed," he said. Type nodded, and Phayu watched him leave, his heart breaking for the older man. He picked up his phone and sent out a message.
Phayu🌪️ : Hi baby. Are you free right now?
Rain🌧️🐰 : Yes Phi, in my last class. Anything up?
Phayu🌪️ : Can we meet?
Rain🌧️🐰 : Pick me up Phi?
Phayu immediately sent him a thumbs up, leaving at once, knowing that otherwise he would be late to pick his baby up. There was no way he would keep his cute boy waiting. He picked up a bouquet of flowers for his Omega, knowing that he was wooing his boy, and wanting to do a good job. But he really wanted to meet him after all that had happened two days ago and he knew that Rain would be the breath of fresh air that he so desperately needed. He stood outside the faculty and waited for Rain, keeping an eye out for his boy. Som came out first, scrolling on his phone and stopped in surprise seeing Phayu, waiing immediately.
"Phi, waiting for Rain?" he asked, with a small smile. Phayu nodded. "He said he was in his last class of the day, so I thought I will take him out for coffee," Phayu said. "That's lovely. Yes Phi, they should be done soon. I have a date too," Som said, blushing. "That's nice," Phayu said, happy for the younger man. He had always liked Som. He had been one of the few people in the years after Phayu's to always maintain a respectful distance. After meeting Rain and his friends, especially Sig, Phayu understood why. Som was totally and completely in love with his Alpha, and anyone else was probably just invisible to him. Phayu watched as Som's face lit up and turned around, knowing that his face had, quite possibly, the same expression as the younger man's.
"Phi!" Rain bounced over, happily falling into the embrace of his Alpha. Now that he knew Phayu was his, Rain was willing to overcome anything to get close to his mate. His wolf also purred in delight, happiness coursing through him at the nearness of his mate. Phayu took a deep breath, imprinting the scent of Rain, the roses and chocolate bright and happy on his senses. He buried his face into Rain's neck and Rain immediately felt his mood sour. He could feel the Alpha's distress and he whined, as did the others. Phayu was not only from a very powerful lineage, he was powerful on his own as well, so the others could feel his mood overwhelm them as well.
"Phi, are you okay?" Rain asked, his voice plaintive. "Can we go away somewhere Rain?" Phayu asked, and Rain immediately nodded. "Sky, take my car to your place. I will go with P'Phayu," he said, throwing his keys to Sky and leaving at once. When they reached Phayu's SUV, Rain held his hand out. "Phi, give me your keys," he said. Phayu readily handed them over, knowing that with the discomfort he was feeling, he might not be able to drive. He actually wondered how he gotten to Rain's Uni as well. "You bought flowers Phi. Are they for me?" Rain asked, trying to alleviate Phayu's mood. "I thought I should court you well baby, so I bought them. Did you like them?" Phayu asked.
Rain nodded. "I loved them Phi. They are pretty. And pink tulips are my favourite," he said, rambling on, both he and his wolf noting how Phayu's scent started to change, which meant he was getting comfortable. Rain stopped mid-sentence at the soft snuffle from the seat beside him and quickly looked to see if his Alpha was okay, and smiled when he saw that Phayu was asleep. He drove around quietly, not knowing where to go, but not wanting to stop in case that woke the Alpha up. Suddenly, Phayu moaned, another scent clinging to the air. Rain breathed in, and his own body reacted, as he felt himself getting aroused. "Rain, baby, take me home please?" Phayu asked, his voice hoarse. "Where is home Phi?" Rain asked. Phayu managed to reach out and set the directions to home.
Rain managed to get Phayu to the door and a lot of people came running, including P'Pai. They took one look at Phayu and a man who looked a lot like him quickly took Phayu from Rain's arms. "Rain, right?" he asked. Rain nodded. "Rain, I am Phayu's twin, Saifah. He is most likely going into rut, so you should go home, so that we can get him settled," he said. "Get him settled? What do you mean? Does he have a rut partner?" Rain asked, something breaking inside him. "No Nong, he doesn't. He never did. But he is still trying to court you, woo you. He will never forgive us if you get hurt. So please go home. You can take Yu's car. We have a lot more," Saifah said, turning away and leaving with Rain's Alpha.
Rain didn't utter a word, turning around and leaving. He drove home in a daze and immediately went upstairs. But his scent was a dead giveaway that something was terribly wrong. Tharn's hackles rose. "Stop! You don't know what happened," Type said. "It's got to be something related to Phayu. He wouldn't be heartbroken otherwise," Tharn said. "I doubt that. You know how Rain has been about him, right? What could have possibly gone wrong in 48 hours?" Type said. "Fine! But we need to find out so that we can do something," Tharn said. Type nodded and they both ran upstairs. The sight that met their eyes shocked them. Rain sat in the centre of his bed, rocking to and fro, sobbing, tears pouring down his cheeks, mumbling something under his breath. "They sent me away. They sent me away," was all he said as he banded his own arms around his body, as if he was holding on by just a thread, his knees pulled up to his chest.
Type rushed and put his arms around his son, both he and Tharn releasing soothing pheromones to help calm Rain down. But nothing seemed to work, and Rain continued to rock and sob. Type gestured with his head and Tharn stepped out at once, pulling out his phone and calling Vegas. "Vegas, what the hell happened?" he asked, as soon as the other Alpha picked up the phone. "What do you mean?" Vegas asked, sounding a bit confused. "Can you tell me why my son is sitting and sobbing his heart out since he came back from Uni, that too in Phayu's car?" Tharn asked. "Oh! That! Rain came here, brought Venice home. Ven has gone into his rut, and we know that he is just beginning to court Rain. We were pretty sure that neither he, nor the both of you, would appreciate us keeping Rain here and putting him with Ven," Vegas said, trying to soothe his son's mate's father.
"I don't know what to say," Tharn said, knowing that Vegas was right, but also helpless in the face of his son's debilitating pain. "Tharn, you have to take care of Rain. Ven is..," Vegas trailed off. Tharn could hear him take a deep breath. "Tharn, Ven is most likely, what we call, an Alpha of Alphas, or an Enigma, if you will. Thanks to his Pa, Ven also has inherited very strong Lycan genes. Both our sons have. But Rome, Ven's twin, is an Omega, so his wolf and Lycan are more.. docile. Now that Ven's Lycan has recognised Rain as his mate, he would be feral in his need. As a wolf, having a heat or rut partner is not a big deal, but a Lycan will never have that. It's impossible for them. Ven is still courting Rain, and if he hurts Rain, he will never forgive himself," Vegas said, sounding sad and apologetic.
