IV - Now my favourite colour is blue 3
Type stood at the large bay windows of the house he shared with his husband, his Alpha, and his only son, as he watched the large SUV draw up. Tharn and he had loved each other a long time. Sometimes, he wondered what would have happened if Tharn hadn't made him realise his own heart. His father's assumption that his son was an Alpha would have probably made Type a laughing-stock of the people. Tharn had been his house mate and roommate, and at 10, when he had met Tharn for the first time, he had felt something connected the two. Then at 18, he had figured out that Tharn was not just his best friend, but his mate too. Now his own son was 19, and Type was determined to do his best by the boy he loved with everything in him.
He had heard of the Theerpanayakuls. Actually, who hadn't heard of them? In fact, he had even met them. When Tharn had received a call saying that Vegas and Pete Theerpanayakul would be coming to meet them, Type had been extremely apprehensive. But he wanted a chance to understand what was happening. He watched as the door opened, and one of the most good looking boys got down. He was dressed in formal black pants, a white shirt, sleeves rolled up to show sinewy forearms, black leather straps around his biceps, hair pulled back in a man bun, and carrying a black blazer.
He immediately opened the back seat and the man who stepped out, Type recognised him at once. Pete Theerpanayakul. Type remembered their first ever meeting. When Pete was not yet a Theerpanayakul, as he had tearfully begged the doctors to save his Alpha. Type had seen him when the Alpha was undergoing physiotherapy. Alphas usually did not do well with that, especially if they had been laid up for too long. But Type had soon understood that Pete was a force to be reckoned with. Every time his Alpha had growled and bristled and had been stubborn, Pete had been all that and more. And Type had seen the literal cowering of a powerful man in front of his mate, the power he held. Type had been no stranger to that power himself, and when Rain was born, and had presented as an Omega, Type had wanted that same thing with absolute certainty for his son as well.
"They are here?" Tharn asked, when Type turned away from the window. He had just nodded, when the bell rang. After a few minutes, their main housekeeper came in. "Khun, your guests are here," she said, before pushing the door further open for the Theerpanayakuls. Tharn immediately stood up and joined his husband at the door to greet the visitors. "Khun Thara, Khun Thiwat, I am Kornwit Theerpanayakul, this is my mate Phongsakorn, our son Venice," Vegas said, putting his hands out to shake with Tharn, as Pete gave the same courtesy to Type. "Please, it's Tharn and Type," Tharn said, as he gestured for everyone to be seated. "Vegas and Pete," Pete said, smiling broadly.
"You must be wondering why we are here today, all so suddenly," Pete said, as he looked towards the two men. He could see Type stealing glances at Ven, and it pleased him to no end that the other Omega seemed to view his son in a positive light. Tharn nodded. "Actually, we are here for your son," Vegas said. Tharn immediately sat up, bristling, subsiding when Type put his arm on his. "Please don't take us wrong. Vegas probably didn't say that well. But I think Venice would be the better person to explain it to you," Pete said. Phayu looked shocked for a second, before he schooled his features and cleared his throat.
"Khun Tharn, Khun Type, as Dad said, I am Venice, although most people know me as Phayu. I am an alumni of Chula, faculty of Architecture. I often go back to the Uni to take classes for my juniors. I..," Phayu trailed off, and Type could see the slight blush on the boy's cheeks, finding it adorable. "Is our Rain your mate Venice?" he asked, bluntly, as was his style. Phayu's blush deepened and Type burst out into laughter, making the others also laugh. "He is," Phayu said, looking away, unable to meet anyone's eyes. "When did you know this?" Tharn asked. "Today. I was at the Uni for some work, and caught his scent and recognised him and his wolf immediately as my mate. According to my wolf, even his wolf recognised mine as their mate. But Rain was..," Phayu looked a bit confused as he watched Tharn and Type's smiles fall away.
"Is everything okay Khun Tharn, Khun Type?" Pete asked. "Venice, please don't get me wrong when I say this. Although I am very, very happy that Rain has you as a mate, someone so strong who can take care of him, I am not sure if Rain is a good choice for you. We love our son to the ends of the earth, but there have been some terrible experiences in his past that have made him.. I don't know how to express it," Type said, looking helplessly at his husband. "Rain had developed very high psychological barriers in his head. He is strong, smart boy, extremely intelligent and creative, with a very high IQ, way beyond a normal level for his age. We, his parents, and his friends know that what people take as his airheadedness, is actually a kind of lack of focus and cluelessness about the regular things about the world. He is a beautiful, loving boy but I don't know if he will be a good mate," Tharn said.
"Khun Tharn, Khun Type, I will be the mate he needs. I will help him to the best of my abilities. All I need are your permissions and blessings. I am more than happy to take responsibility for Rain, and love him as he deserves," Phayu said earnestly. Tharn and Type looked at each other. "Venice, are you sure? It is going to take you a lot of work and effort to break down Rain's walls," Type asked. "And it will be well worth it. Rain is worth everything Khun. He is my mate, and my mate is worth every effort I make to get his love and affection," Phayu said, his honesty clear in his eyes and his words.
"You are a mafia family..," Tharn said. 'Believe me when I say, we will protect Rain with more than our lives," Pete said, taking Type's hand into his. "Khun Tharn..," Vegas stopped when Tharn raised his hand. "Since this is the situation, let's drop the formalities," he said, smiling. "Okay.. that's good. Tharn, Type, for us, Rain is not just going to be our son's Omega, he is going to be our son. We do not intend to take your son away from you, just add a layer more of protection. All these years, you took care of him alone. Now, let us help you, okay?" Vegas said. Tharn and Type looked at each other, and then turned back to look at the Theerpanayakuls. "Venice, I hope you will never give us a reason to regret this decision," Tharn said. Phayu nodded eagerly, the sparkling eyes and his blinding smile a testimony of his complete adoration for his Omega and the faith he had received today.
"I heard P'Phayu is coming again to the Uni for taking a class," Ple said, sotto voice. "Where did you hear that?" Sig asked. "I heard the Ajarns talk," she said. "She is right. He is coming," Som said, as he walked, going straight to his Alpha and presenting his scent gland. Although they had not marked each other yet, Sig and Som were extremely respectful of their bond, and loved each other tremendously. Sig pulled him close. "So, what do we do?" Por asked. "We need to find out what he thinks of Rain; whether he is serious or not," Ple said. "I would say he is," Sky said. "Meaning?" Ple asked. "He visited Rain's family soon after school that day, and asked for official permission and blessings. P'Pai told me that P'Phayu has never had a rut partner, always choosing to spend it alone in his own apartment in the city. Also..," Sky trailed off, looking unsure whether it was information he could share. Then he looked at his friends. They were Rain and his biggest support system. If not them, who?
Sky took a deep breath. "Their whole family suspects that P'Phayu is an Alpha of Alphas, a true Alpha, someone who deserves to rule the kingdom. Apparently, his Pa, Uncle Pete, was born of a union between a were and a Lycan, which means that P'Phayu has part Lycan blood in him as well. As a wolf, his powers are already high, having born into the Theerpanayakul clan, but as a part Lycan, his strength multiplies a 100 times. Lycans have another trait. They absolutely cannot be with someone who is not a perfect mate; it's only one in each lifetime, but that means it makes them dangerous. Any threat to their mate, and they are likely to go feral. Which also means that there is no one who is as much worthy of our Rain as he is. So if you plan to test him, please make sure that you pick safe pranks. Don't challenge him," Sky said.
"An Alpha of Alphas.. an Enigma?" Som asked. "No wonder he attracts so much attention where he goes." "What do you mean?" Sig asked, sounding a bit jealous. Som laughed an shook his head. "Silly boy," he said sounding so loving and indulgent that the others cringed. "Can you please control your PDAs? We are trying to eat here," Por said, sounding disgusted. "But Phi, what did you mean?" Ple asked, ignoring her mate. "Enigmas are supposed to have a different energy signature. It makes their appearance different, something like a witch's glamour? There is this glaze, this shine on them," Som said. "That could be bad for our Rain, right?" Ple asked, frowning. "If he is going to attract people. I mean, what if he is a 'Pied Piper' types? Isn't that bad for our baby boy? I still can't trust him despite what you said. I have to really test him now!"
"What do you plan to do?" Sky asked. Apart from what Phayu was, the clan he belonged to was just as powerful, and he hoped Ple would not do something stupid. "Simple tests. Don't worry," Ple said, her nose in the air. The boys exchanged a glance. Ple in this mood was impossible to budge, and they didn't even want to try. Sky decided that he would speak to P'Pai later and ensure that there would be no consequences for Ple if something went wrong or if P'Phayu got angry with her shenanigans. "I am going to first..," she trailed off when Sig elbowed her on the side and jerked his head towards where Rain was coming. "How are you all here already? Am I late?" he asked, dumping everything on the table and falling into the chair closest to him. "No baby, not late. We just thought we would come in early to finish up the project," Por said. "Without me?" Rain asked.
"We also just got here baby. And aren't you already done with your part? We are the lazy ones," Sig said, ruffling Rain's hair. Rain glared at him. "By the way, let's get to class. P'Phayu is coming again today to help us with the design ideas," Por said, distracting Rain. "Hurry! Hurry! I want to see him!" Rain's wolf scampered back from where he had disappeared yesterday in a huff. "Why are you so weird? Go away," Rain asked, irritated with his wolf. But his wolf completely ignored him, bouncing around on his toes again, literally going boing! boing! making him want to laugh. Instead, Rain ignored him and walked into the design room with his friends. He would never admit it, even to himself, but he was really looking forward to seeing the handsome man himself. He hadn't been able to stop thinking about Phayu all night. The man had imprinted himself into Rain's mind, and he was hoping that the Alpha would come and talk to him today also.
Phayu had never been this excited about coming to Uni, not even when he was a student here. He had lain awake the whole night, perfecting a plan of action to woo his Omega. He knew he will have to work hard, so he was ready. He also knew that right now, Rain would not be ready for obvious wooing techniques, so he had to be subtle. He had found out that Rain loved boba, and he had bought it. Now he just had to figure out a way to get it to him. So he had arrived early, leaving the boba at Rain's desk, with a little note with Rain's name and a smiley, signed with his signature tornado. Then he waited at the teacher's station, keeping an eye out for his boy. Phayu's wolf jumped with joy, along with his own heart, as Rain walked in, laughing with his friends.
He came to a standstill when he saw the boba tea on his table. "Who left this here?" he asked, looking around, glaring at everyone. "It has your name on it," Ple said. "And something else written. Why don't you read what it is?" Sig said. "Rain, I am so glad to know you, and glad to see you every day. You are a wonderful person, and I hope you can give me a chance to pursue you." It was signed with a small tornado symbol. "Whose signature is this?" he asked, looking confused. Everyone looked at him, then at each other, and then turned as one to look at Phayu, who was a bit taken aback by the intense scrutiny in their eyes.
"What if it is poisoned?" Rain asked, whispering. "Who is pursuing me? I don't want to be pursued." He pouted and looked around again. "Rain, I am sure no one wants to poison you. And I am also sure a nice person is trying to pursue you," Por said, shaking his head at Rain's paranoia. "How do you know that?" Rain asked, still pouting. "Because otherwise, they would not have left a note," Sig said, sighing. "Meaning?" Rain asked, still suspicious. "Rainy, if someone wanted to poison you, they will not leave a note, because the handwriting can be traced back to the person, okay?" Sky said, explaining carefully. They knew that if they didn't nip it in the bud, Rain would go full blown panic attack.
Rain pondered for a moment. "Okay, I am gonna trust you guys," he said, happily sipping his boba. Phayu was thrilled to see that. He again set about explaining the previous instructions, and then started making his way around the room. Today he had asked them to work on individual parts. While it was definitely to help them figure out how to put together individual aesthetics with a group blend, it was also a way to get close to his pretty boy. He walked up to Rain's work and was mesmerised. The boy was wonderfully talented. The sweet, yet faint smell of roses and chocolate that had clung to the boy yesterday was slightly stronger today, and his wolf purred in delight. "What did you do?" Phayu asked, gritting his teeth. "We met mate," his wolf said, grinning, his tongue lolling out. "Meeting us, their scent bloomed," he added, sounding so smug that Phayu wanted to bash his head in. He prayed to the Moon Goddess to grant him patience from his annoying wolf and walked towards his mate.
"This is wonderful Rain," he said, smiling at the younger boy. Rain looked up at the deep voice in his ear, the butterflies in his stomach exploding in excitement. "P'Phayu," he breathed out, not realising how sexy he sounded. Phayu could feel his own breath catching. His eyes dropped to his mate's lips. He knew with absolute certainty that those lips would be the yummiest treat in the world. He dragged his eyes away from the very delectable sight and looked Rain in the eye. "You are very talented Rain," he said, smiling down at the boy. "Thank you Phi," Rain said, trying his best to sound mature and grown-up. A man like Phayu, especially an Alpha, would only be interested in him if he was mature enough. "You will be an amazing architect one day. I look forward to working with you," Phayu said, his grin enough to short circuit Rain's brain. Little did he know how much his own words had caused the same reaction in his handsome senior!
