It's Not The End

I had decided to run away, I ended up running to Guadalajara Mexico. I don't know why I choose to run there but I kept going and my feet left me there. I was trying to escape from who I was, I didn't want to live anymore. I didn't want to watch another person die or have to worry about making anymore friends to say goodbye to. Right before I ran I got closer to someone r than I ever had before, and that scared me; so naturally I did the only thing I knew how to do and I ran.
I hadn't stopped running when I ended up in Guadalajara, it was a pit stop on the bus I was running in. Tourists flocked out of the bus and started going every which way with their cameras. My feet decided before my mind did and followed a small group toward what appeared to be an old orphanage.
Everything inside seemed beautiful, but outside was what really hit me. There were these iron statues that were sitting in almost a meditative stance, but their limbs were short. They had no faces and small square holes in perfect lines over the bodies. I watched as a small bird flew out of one of the holes chirping it's sweet innocent song.
A woman approached me with a smile, she could tell I wasn't like the usual tourists she would see. When she approached me I looked away and wanted to run some more, but I was too mesmerized by the statues to try to run. "I don't remember the exact story but these statues are suppose to be Guardians or Warriors. They are here to protect us, but if you run away they can't protect you." The woman spoke.
I looked back up to the statues. There was something about them, an odd sensation spreading a shiver through my spine. I wanted to leave but my feet felt glued in place, all I was able to do was stare at them. The lady spoke again and these words always have stayed with me, "Well don't you worry about it. I'm sure things will get solved. You know what they say: everything will be okay in the end. And if it's not okay, it's not the end."
As I turned to her she started to freeze, her eyes went blank as her knees collapsed to the ground. She gripped her heart as she looked to me. Her eyes scared me more than anything, she was relieved. She was happy to die, I found out she had a heart attack. Her words have always stayed with me, no matter what I have been through. I may not have known the lady very well but she always remains in my head.
Her last action before she died was handing me a small leash and pointing to a small dog on the other end of the yard. I took the dog with me, his name was Merlot.
-----Author's Note-----
Please take a moment's pause to think about the dog Merlot, he was a great dog owned by the person who sent this picture and one of my best friends. Merlot is now at rest and hopefully at peace, please take a moment of silence in memory of Merlot.
