I know you did it (2)

And now to the second version!

I thought showing you the official one would be better since I find this one more interesting.

The main character and the plot are (obviously) still the same. In here, though, I describe more how did she get to the taking-her-revenge part.

Hope you'll like it just like I do! :3

I breathed in the fresh air that was brushing my hair with its kind, silk fingers. At least something would treat me right in this messy, dirty world. The police officer walked back into the station, door clicking behind him to signal they were closed. I looked around, observing the dark street covered in golden dazzle of the streetlights. Slowly walking down the stairs, I couldn't stop wondering: "What now?"

I was just let free, the police were gonna keep investigating the case, considering me a potential candidate for the next place in jail. "Nice," I chuckled, my voice filled with irony, as I kept walking down the almost empty streets. A few people would pass me by now and then but besides that - the night was cold yet warm and the stars wouldn't stop shining above this cursed city.

Where was I even supposed to go now? I had no house to stay at, there was no one to take me in, I had to find another man as soon as possible... unless I wanted to sleep over in that police station again. I turned a corner and noticed bright neon lights at the end of the street.

Well, now I at least knew I wasn't homeless anymore.

I woke up the next morning, some old, fat man lying next to me... naked. I rolled my eyes and got out of the bed.

"Let's check how well is this one doing," I muttered as I was putting on my clothes. From the layout of the room, I already knew I've found the right one.

An hour later, I could hear a grumbling coming from the bedroom. I was sitting on the kitchen counter, sipping on a now lukewarm coffee. "Hello, honey," I sang sweetly when I saw his ugly face in the doorway.

"Morning," he smiled vilely. "What are you gonna do today?"

I sighed, swaying my hair over my shoulder. "Just going out to find myself a second job." Pouting, I looked at him, eyes filled with sadness: "I got kicked out of my apartment, you know. So now I have to start working twice harder." With another sigh, I brought the cup back to my face. "World is so unfair, don't you think?"

He looked me up and down and came closer, trying to look seductive. "You can stay here for now."

I pretended like it surprised me. "What? No... No, no, no, I can't- I don't- I don't wanna be a burden-"

His voice cut me off: "You won't be. Don't worry."

I smiled sheepishly, gazing at the dark surface of coffee. "Thank you."

A few minutes later, I was walking out of the building, a smirk plastered on my lips.

Bingo.

I was staring at the ceiling, listening to the snoring next to me.

"No way," those were the two words that kept playing on and on inside my mind. Besides those words, I saw her in front of my eyes. Her red lips, dark eyeshadows, blond hair, the way her chin was resting on her palm, her face lit up with pure happiness. And on the other side of the table... a man. A man in fancy clothes, good shoes with Rolex hugging his big wrist. He for sure was rich. And she was sitting there with him, flirting like if there was no tomorrow.

Anger started raising up in my chest. How could she? After she'd taken everything away from me. When I finally found money and good house with a rich man, she had to come and destroy it all. It's not like I cared about him but what about me now? I had spent a long hour sitting there in that restaurant, watching the café across the street with her and her new partner sitting behind the window, under the reflectors of sun rays. They were the new superstars in my show.

I blinked a few times, noticing the ceiling above me again. Her face disappearing into the dark, her smile leaving the touch of my hands. The desperate feeling of wanting to brush that smile off her face was so strong. I sat up, putting the blankets aside. Without a second thought, I dressed up in dark clothes and left the apartment. I knew way too well where to find her. The night was dark but the madness in my veins was shining bright.

I kept following her for days. I enjoyed every moment she looked around, fright in her eyes as they scanned her surroundings. She for sure felt I was there. However, not even once had she realized it was me. I enjoyed how her smile faltered, how she wasn't laughing that much... she looked scared. And the need for revenge within me made sure to feed me that sweet feeling. "Yes, she's scared and you are the cause."

I made sure she was gonna regret painting his blood on my hands. She was gonna regret sticking the dark shadows to my heels. She was gonna regret it all. I was gonna make sure she was.

Finally.

She was alone. Alone in the middle of the night. No men nor women around her. Just her and me, her dark shadow.

The clattering of her high heels was filling the empty air. Her hips swaying with such a confidence. If only she knew I was right there, hiding in the dark, watching her every single move, completely silent. Until I stepped on a dry leaf, it causing a loud cracking sound stopping her steps.

I could see all her muscles tensing up, her body completely frozen. Like if she got stuck in time. Without making a sound, she turned her head a bit towards her right shoulder like if she was trying to catch that sound once again. She for sure knew I was there, she must've heard me.

And so I stepped out of the shadows, pressed the knife in my hand to her neck and smiled, my lips almost touching her ear. My breath caressed her neck when I whispered: "I know you did it."
