Part 35 The Unknown Princess (13)

A/N Meremoth's explanation is taken from lesson 2 Genesis 1 from Torah Class Seeds of Abraham on Vimeo .

The harem was in an uproar with the loss of Jahzara to the second harem of the unseen wives. Her lackeys seemed to have it in for me after that and every time I was around one of them, an accident just so happened to occur.

I always brushed it off as me being clumsy as I had a tendency to be clumsy, but it was starting to be obvious that it was not me with the snickers and whispered comments, "Serve you right you cheating bitch!" every time it happened.

The torment was so bad that I began to be afraid to walk anywhere without one of either Solomon, Abishag, or Mina with me. Mina or Abishag would attend the lessons at the temple with me with Meremoth so that I could not be accused again of infidelity. Re learning the Israelite laws was not interesting to them, but it was to me. I particularly loved the lessons from what would later be called the Torah.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning-the first day" Meremoth intoned, reading from the scroll in his hand.

Meremoth looked up at me then and said, "The true God is introduced to us in the first verse of Genesis and we are also given the first of what will prove to be many of the unchangeable, sometimes inscrutable, characteristics and attributes of God. The Hebrew word in this scroll translates to "God" is Elohim. First, we must understand that Elohim is NOT God's name; we won't be advised of God's name until later in these lessons I am giving you. Rather Elohim is a title and it is a plural title (plural as in more-than-one). Elohim and its various usages is a complex matter that we are only going to barely touch upon today."

I nodded, listening intently to his explanation of the first chapter of Genesis. I was staggard at the difference between the Israelite teachings and the teachings of Molech. And we had only covered one chapter of what would become the Torah.

I wanted to chat with Mina about my excitement over what I had learnt, but the timing never seemed quite right.

As I mentioned earlier, I wrote most of my mishaps down as clumsiness, but the tormenting continued. It was like the hands of Jahzara were reaching out and tormenting me for losing her position as one of Solomon's favourites. Surely this was impossible though? How can she personally be bringing misfortune to me?

As I was going back to our room one evening, I ran into Solomon heading back to his library to search something up for a project the kingdom had been working on.

"Amari, can you please bring me something to eat and drink at the library? I have no time to eat with everyone else today?"

I nodded my agreement and hurried off to do so. I loaded up the king's tray with his plate, and goblet of wine and a craft of water mixed with wine. One would think that Solomon would prefer eating and drinking off the gold and silver plates and goblets he owned, but no, he enjoyed eating off and drinking out of the earthen ware. His favourites were the set I had as they were particularly fine. I had taken care to take his favourite snacks too.

I put them all onto a tray and headed off to the library, careful to go the route where I would not come across many people. It did not help me though.

I turned the corner with relief, all I had to do was make it down this hallway and my job was done. My relief came too soon as a group of 3 stunningly beautiful women with blonde hair. One was covered with a green and gold veil, swearing a matching harem outfit. It was a clear attempt to get and maintain Solomon's attention, I recognised them as Jahzara's lackeys so headed to the side away from them.

It did not save me though. I do not know how it happened but I felt my foot swept out from under me and everything on the tray went flying as I fell heavily, knocking myself out in the process. The last thing I remember was laughing as they disappeared round the corner, "See that? Serve her right that self-righteous bitch! How dare she do that Jahzara! Jahzara was only trying to protect Solomon from that whore."

"Amari! Amari!" I came to Solomon shaking me awake. Upon seeing my eyes open, Solomon sighed in relief, "Amari! What happened? It's not like you to be this clumsy."

"I don't know. I was walking by Jahzara's friends and the next thing I knew was falling..." I murmured, confused and dazed.

Solomon's eyes narrowed as he looked up the passageway, "They aren't here now. How long has this been going on? Don't think I do not notice all the bruises you have been getting lately."

"Ever since we returned, my lord," I answer with my eyes averted. I really did not want to get anyone else into trouble, but I had to answer his question.

"Why did you not say anything to me?" Solomon asked.

"It was not important. This is just something I have to endure. I cannot help their feelings towards me," I said looking at him, begging him to understand.

"No, this petty action needs to stop," Solomon disagreed with me, "I am going to do something about it. Besides which, they ruined things meant for me and now I am going to have to take time to fix a problem that I really do not have the time for, but if it continues will cause me trouble." he said looking at the mess left by the smashed dishes and food that had gone flying with my fall.

"Oh, I am sorry, my Lord," I said scrambling to clear up the mess, but falling again as my foot had also twisted in my fall. I had not noticed till now that I was severely injured by it. I fell back down in a grunt of pain, tears forming in my eyes at my frustration with the whole situation.

Solomon reached over, grabbing my hand, he said gently, "Amari, do not worry about it, please."

"But my lord!" I started to object but stopped when I saw him shake his head.

"I will deal with it," Solomon promised, scooping me up, and carrying me back to our room. Envious eyes followed us whenever we were seen by his other wives. We were near his room, when we came across the 3 women responsible for my fall.

I did not say anything to Solomon, but I tensed up in fear of them. Solomon glanced at me and figured that they were the culprits, so he went up to them carrying me and said, "Excuse me Jezebel, Drusilla and Candace, I was wondering if you could do something for me?"

"Anything for you Solomon," they postured, trying to flirt with their bodies. I concentrated on being as small as I can in his arms, burying myself in his arms.

"Amari, here had a nasty fall and twisted her ankle, she was in the process of feeding me," and Solomon was interrupted.

"We can get you food right away, Solomon!" they said, happily.

"NO! I do not want you to get me food. I am not hungry now," I could hear him come close to snapping at them, as he unconsciously pulled me tighter to him, "What I do want you to do is to clean up the mess that was created by her fall, then once you have done that, I want you to call all the wives and concubines and eunuchs' together. Have them meet in the banquet hall, but clear the room of the tables, we are not there for a banquet. Then find Abishag and get her to come get me from my room."

I happened to glance up then, they were not fast enough with hiding their true emotions and natures as an ugly look flitted across all of their faces before they smiled and curtsied to Solomon, "It will be done immediately to your satisfaction. Is there anything else you would like us to do?"

"Yes, there is," Solomon smiled an almost evil smile at them, "Go buy a replacement dish and goblet of the same quality as was smashed upon completion of the gathering I have called."

Their faces went white, they nodded and hurried off before they got themselves into further trouble.

"Was that necessary?" I asked him.

He gave an evil chuckle, "It was them who did this wasn't it?"

I looked at him wide-eyed, astounded that he had figured it out, "Yes, but how did you know?"

"You suddenly went tense in my arms and buried your face in my neck as if to hide."

"I see," and I did see, only Solomon was capable of reading everything in the room. It was why he was revered so much.

He took me to our room, sat me on our bed and went and poured a bath for me. He returned when it was poured and started undressing me to put me in it. I understood his reasoning, I was a mess. Somehow the food had not only ended up on the floor but all over me as well.

"I would join you, but I have that gathering I need to deal with. I have Abishag coming here to get me as she does not need to come. Somehow, all this backstabbing seems to miss her since she is not seen as a true wife." Solomon kissed me then, and I received all of his want of me in that kiss.

Just then Abishag entered, and looked away blushing.

"They are waiting for you Solomon," Abishag uttered.

"Thank you Abishag," Solomon acknowledged her, "Can you please finish bathing Amari and then bandage up her ankle? She had a rather nasty fall."

Abishag looked up then and smiled, "Sure Solomon, I thought you were doing something else with her. I was feeling a bit uncomfortable."

Solomon laughed and tousled her hair as he walked out the door, "I would not do that to you Abishag. You are too precious a person to do that too."
