Chapter 17 Bathsheba (2)
A/N I am not Jewish, but I have tried to write about how their traditional weddings are. If I have misrepresented this or got it incorrect. I apologise, but I have done my best with what I found on them. Blessings!

I prepared for my husband to come for me throughout the year after our initial wedding. All that was left was our nissuin [the marriage itself] part of the ritual. I kept my oil lamps full and ready, just in case he came in the night. I had everything I needed to ready to go should my husband come for me, including a chest full of the clothes he had bought me this year. The closer the year end came the more I felt a mix between excited and nervous.
Uriah would visit me throughout the year and we would often go on walks to get to know each other. I was satisfied that I was getting a truly upstanding young man, correct to a point. I think that being part of David's mighty warriors meant that, in some ways, he was inflexible in his thinking, but this was ok though, I found all men were like this to a degree, even Abba.
As I was readying for bed at the end of the year of marriage where I lived with my parents and he supported me there, Abba gave his blessing for Uriah to come and get me. To my surprise Uriah spent no time getting me as I heard the shofar ["marriage horn"] blow as he came to get me.
I hurriedly dressed with the help of my maids, and we were all ready to go by the time Uriah arrived. He was wearing a white kittel (robe) to signify our new beginning together and the purity and holiness of what we were doing. When he saw me, his face lit up in a smile and he came over and picked me up, and left the house carrying me to the huppah where we were to finalise our vows. Our friends and family followed providing much cheer and celebration as he carried me.
We arrived at his home and entered the huppah. [wedding canopy] We recited the blessing over the wine to finalise our vows to each other. Uriah then placed his handcrafted wedding ring on my index finger and said looking into my eyes, "Behold, by this ring you are consecrated to me as my wife according to the laws of Yahweh and Yisraél."
Once this was completed, our family and friends congratulated us and pushed us towards the room Uriah had prepared for us. I was suddenly nervous and anxious "What if I am not good enough for him?" and "Will he be happy with me?" My fears did not prevail, only what mattered was this was an arranged marriage accept by myself, our families, our people and consecrated by Yahweh our God - what mattered was we consummate our marriage and live together as husband and wife, and fully partake of all the duties and privileges of the covenant of marriage.
A/N I apologise for the brevity and shortness of this chapter. I was going to do a much bigger chapter but decided to separate it out.
