In Canada, it's very common for people saving to pay for college/university to spend a summer working as a tree planter in northern Ontario and British Columbia. 

Every summer, lots of young people leave the cities to live in close quarters in camps, spending all day in the Canadian wilderness planting trees. In the best shape of their lives from all the physical activity and tanned from all the time spent outdoors, I've always thought these camps would be a great setting for a summer romance or coming of age story.

I'm surprised I haven't seen more of these!
