Dream Job

PROMPT:  By  @ChickLit  She woke up sweating after dreaming again of the same dark brown eyes and warm smile that never failed to make her heart beat faster. She's sure she knows him, but who is he?

Becky sat up, gasping in excitement. "Damn! Why does the dream always end before I can see his whole face?"

For days now she'd been waking up hot and bothered after having the same tantalizing dream of a stranger's eyes; a dream that looked just like one of the music videos she made at work.

She scrubbed her hands over her face. "I need to stop working so much. This is bringing work home to the extreme."

She rolled out of bed and went to shower off the sweat that drenched her. If this guy got her so worked up from just seeing his eyes in repeated dreams, she'd probably melt into a puddle of happy goo if she saw the rest of him, or - her heart tripped into overdrive - met him in real life.

She didn't believe in premonitions and all that junk. This was someone she had met before. Deep in her core she felt the truth of it. But who was he?

All the way to work she looked for him in the people she passed on the street and subway.

"Whoa, Becky. You gonna start makin' people uncomfortable starin' at 'em like that," said Hank the coffee vendor as she looked at him intently as she approached his cart.

"Sorry, Hank," Becky rubbed her eyes.

"Lookin' for someone?"

Becky shrugged and poured her coffee. "Yeah. It sounds stupid. I keep dreaming about eyes, but not his face. I know I know him, though."

"If anyone can find a mystery man, it's you, Becky."

Waving goodbye, Becky tried to be less intense in her scrutiny of others on the way to the office.

Barely off the elevator at work, Becky had to take evasive manoeuvres to save her coffee from her second-in-command Selma who bounded up and grabbed her arm. "Becks! Guess what? We won the contract to do the video for Marcelle Newton's new song!"

"Yes!" They high-fived then fell into step down the hall. "I guess all our overtime on that proposal paid off."

"Everyone is in the conference room."

Becky hummed Newton's hit song Bedroom Eyes as she rounded the corner where her team waited - and came face to face with a 2x2 poster of the pop singer's face and his oh-so familiar brown eyes.

She smiled at her team and pulled out a chair. "Alright people, let's hear your ideas." Recalling her steamy dreams of the last week, she said, "I've got a few of my own to throw in the pot."

The CEO Ariadne Winter opened and held the door. "Let me introduce our best team."

Behind her came Marcelle Newton.

Becky smiled professionally, but muttered, "Commence melting."
