Davey x Reader

broadway_doll requested this one! Thank you for requesting one! I really appreciate it. Just so everyone knows, Y/N= Your name, E/C= Your eye color, H/C= Hair color, and I think you get the picture from there. I am also depicting Y/N as a girl.  These are all that I can think of right now, but I will include more in the actual imagine and tell you what they are. Now onto the story.

Y/N and Davey had been best friends for as long as Y/N could remember. Sure, Y/N had friends that were girls, but drama always seemed to creep its way into those friendships. Y/N did not appreciate that in the least. So, Y/N started hanging out with David Jacobs. The two friends met when Y/N was chasing one of her other friends down the hall and ran right into Davey, who was just an innocent bystander walking to class. Y/N apologized profusely and Davey apologized for being in the way. Davey helped Y/N to her feet and when he did, Y/N noticed how cute he was. It was only for a passing moment, because Y/N had a crush on a boy who was athletically inclined and at the top of his game. Y/N thanked Davey and quickly hurried away. Two years passed and the two hardly spoke to each other. Y/N began dating her crush despite the fact that her crush was a player. He never did anything bad to the girls he dated, but every month, there seemed to be a new one. This month happened to be Y/N. Y/N and C/N(Crush's name) were walking out of the school and to the big green lawn outside. Their hands were interlocked and they both had smiles on their faces until a pretty upper class girl walked on the sidewalk right next to them. Y/N had been having a healthy relationship with C/N and she really was beginning to think that she had a chance until C/N started flirting with the girl on the street. The terrifying thing was that the girl on the street started flirting back. Y/N grew furious and immediately confronted C/N about it. C/N shrugged her off, but little did he know that a certain Davey Jacobs was sitting across the lawn and watching the scene. How a girl had not punched C/N yet, he didn't know, but by the look on Y/N's face, there was a high chance that he was about to get one very soon. Y/N grew furious, gave in to her anger, and threw a punch which landed right on C/N's jaw. C/N whirled around to see a very furious Y/N. All she said was,

"Should have known I was just another girl." She turned around and walked away from him anger coursing through her bones. C/N started to chase after her and he cornered her at against the school wall.

"I don't do girls like a little kid eats candy. I date girls and it just never seems to work out," C/N attempted to explain, but Y/N shook her head.

"You're just a player, C/N, " Y/N said angrily and C/N lunged at her. Davey rose to his feet and sprinted over towards the two individuals. He threw a punch at C/N's ear. C/N howled in frustration and sat up straight to see who had assaulted him. Y/N was still huddled against the school wall in fear, but Davey stood above C/N with his arms crossed. C/N made to go at Y/N again, but Davey stood in his way. Finally, C/N let out a huff in frustration and ran off. Y/N smiled at Davey.

"Thank you, David," She said politely. Davey ran a hand through his hair.

"It's no problem," He replied, looking at the girl in front of him. She had H/C hair, E/C eyes and S/T(skin tone) skin. How had he never noticed that about her before? "Do you mind if I walk you home?" He asked and Y/N shook her head. Davey and Y/N started walking in the direction of the L/N(last name)'s apartment. The two had talked the whole way there, getting to know each other as they did. They both discovered that they had a lot in common. Both of them valued their education more than most students did.  Six months went by and Davey had walked Y/N every day since their second encounter. The two were inseparable. On this particular day, Davey decided to take Y/N to the library since they never got to go. Both of them loved books and reading. Davey was taking Y/N to an especially large library on this particular occasion and when he opened the doors, Y/N gasped,

"Oh, Davey!! These books are wonderful!!! This is amazing!!!" Y/N quickly hurried around and began scanning the titles for her favorite books and one for Davey. Davey never read fiction, so Y/N wanted him to try one. She found one that she thought he would enjoy and grabbed it for him. Y/N handed Davey the book and he looked at the title.

"Peter Pan?" He asked skeptically and Y/N nodded excitedly.

"Yes! I think you would really enjoy it. It's a little dark, but it is a really good story," said Y/N. Davey shrugged his shoulders and added it to his pile of nonfiction books. Books that Y/N found to be boring, but commended Davey for having the patience to read them, because she knew for certain that she did not. Y/N reveled in the shelves and the amount of books that sat on them. She selected more and more books until she had a small tower stacked on a round wooden table in the middle of the library. Davey was in the middle of some law book when he noticed the stack. He sat up straight and dropped the book he was holding onto the fancy crimson carpet that covered the library floors.

"Y/N, that's a lot of books. You are going to read them all?" Davey asked in pure shock and Y/N nodded her head.

"Of course!" She said in a matter of fact manner and Davey shook his head in disbelief. The two friends walked over to a checkout station where a young woman stood with a stamp ready. The young woman finished stamping their books after about twenty minutes and told the pair that they were due in three weeks.  Davey held open the door for Y/N and she thanked him. The two made their way out onto the street with Davey holding all of the books. Y/N chuckled when she saw him holding the books. Davey nearly dropped two of them and Y/N went to help.

"Nope! I have them all. Don't worry about a thing, Y/N," Davey reassured Y/N and Y/N chuckled. His facial expressions as he was trying to hold the whole stack of books in his hands were very cute and Y/N was beginning to notice other things about him in addition to his adorable mannerisms that he tried to hide. Y/N and Davey walked back to the L/N's apartment and Y/N opened the door. Davey dropped the entire pile of books down on the table and Y/N handed him a cookie from the cookie jar that the L/Ns kept in their apartment.

"Thanks for bringing all of the books this way and for taking me to the library. I have never been to that library and it was absolutely beautiful!" Y/N exclaimed to Davey and he blushed at the praise.

"Your welcome, Y/N. Glad I could make you happy," He said and he headed for the front door, but Y/N stopped him.

"Davey, don't you want to stay for dinner? Mother is making some wonderful chicken noodle soup," Y/N offered and Davey nods. Mrs. L/N comes home and starts talking with Y/N and Davey about school and the amount of books that are on her kitchen table. A couple hours go by and Y/N and Davey work on their homework together while waiting for dinner to be ready. Y/N is frustrated with her algebra homework which Davey understands.

"Okay Y/N, x=3, remember?" Davey asks and Y/N groans which causes Davey to chuckle.

"I understood it earlier today, " Y/N complains.  Davey continues to chuckle at her frustration. Y/N is not bad at math by any means, but she does have her difficulties just like every other student. Picking up the large pink eraser from the floor, Y/N gently tosses it at Davey, causing it to smack him in the nose.

"Maybe you should throw erasers at your homework. Isn't that what you are frustrated about?" Davey asked and Y/N shot him a look.

"Maybe I should throw them at the person who is actually making me frustrated!" Y/N suggested sarcastically and Davey sighed. He sat up and explained the homework to Y/N. Y/N managed to finish it just as Mrs. L/N proclaimed that it was dinner time. The two enjoyed polite conversation with the rest of Y/N's family and chicken noodle soup when a knock sounded at the front door. Mr. L/N, who had come home just before supper, opened it to see a frantic Sarah Jacobs standing on the other side.

"Hello, Mr. L/N. Is David here?" Sarah asked and Mr. L/N pointed him out to Sarah. "David!" Sarah called out and Davey turned his head away from the conversation he was having with Y/N.

"Sarah?! What are you doing here?" Davey asked and Sarah frantically fidgeted with her lace shawl.

"It's Papa. He got into an accident at the factory and they had to let him go. Mama wants you at home right now,' Sarah explained frantically moving towards the front door of the apartment. Davey stood up, quickly thanked the L/Ns for letting him stay for dinner and moved towards the door with his sister. Y/N stood up and hurried over to Davey. The two friends quickly hugged and Y/N asked,

"Are you going to be at school tomorrow?" Davey shrugged.

"I don't know. I might be finding a job tomorrow." Y/N felt a wave of sadness was over her. She and Davey never hung out much outside of school besides the few excursions to the library and the few times Davey stayed for dinner. Davey and Sarah left the L/Ns and the next day at school, Y/N did not see Davey there. Y/N had only been to the Jacobs' apartment once and Sarah had been the only one there beside Y/N and Davey. She did not remember how to get to the Jacobs to make sure that he was okay. One day, Y/N was walking home from school by herself and she noticed a couple of newsboys crossing the street. Y/N recognized Davey to be one of the newsboys. She felt tears prick at the corner of her eyes. What had happened to her friend? About two weeks went by from the time that Y/N had seen Davey til the time she saw him again. Y/N missed Davey dearly as a friend throughout those entire two weeks. One night, the LN's apartment was rather warm so Y/N slipped outside for some fresh air. It was a Saturday evening and a slight breeze twirled around Y/N's H/C hair. Suddenly, the window opened and Mrs. L/N poked her head outside.

"Y/N, someone is here to see you," Mrs. L/N told her daughter and Y/N shrugged. Mrs. L/N pursed her lips in thought, brainstorming for a way to make her daughter come back inside. Turning around, Mrs. L/N beckoned Y/N's guest closer. Y/N sat watching the New Yorkers walk around below. Suddenly, Y/N heard a new voice say,

"Hi, Y/N." Y/N's E/C eyes widened and she whirled around to see Davey Jacobs looking back at her.

"Davey!" Y/N shouted with glee and Davey climbed out the window and onto the fire escape to hug Y/N. The two embraced and Y/N said into his shirt, "I missed you so much. I saw you dressed up as a newsboy and I cried, Davey." Davey hugged her as if she were going to disappear on him.

"I missed you too. I'm sorry I never came by. The Newsies were in a strike and we won. It was dangerous and I needed to make sure Les and the rest of the boys got through it okay. I have been busy with the Newsies. You have to meet them sometime, Y/N. They brought Les and I into their family and it feels great. Have you ever heard of Jack Kelly?" Davey asked and Y/N nodded her head.

"His name was in the paper last week. He was the leader of the strike, wasn't her?" Y/N asked and Davey nodded.

"Yeah, he's become a close friend since the strike," Davey explained and Y/N backed away from him.

"That's wonderful, so are you still staying at home?" Y/N asked and Davey nodded.

"Yeah. I have a question for you. It doesn't seem like I'm coming back to school for awhile. Can you keep me up on schoolwork?" Davey asked and Y/N nodded.

"Yes, but don't you have to sell papers?" Y/N asked and Davey smiled at her.

"I can take Saturdays off from now on. I can come here or we can meet at the library or wherever works best," Davey suggested and Y/N nodded.

"Should we start tonight?" Y/N asked and Davey nodded. Y/N began going over the last few weeks with Davey and Davey caught on to the content quickly. The weeks flew by and Davey caught onto every week's lesson quickly. Y/N began to look forward to Saturdays and not just because she did not have to attend school that day. No, Y/N had developed a crush on Davey overtime. Or at least she finally realized that she had a crush on Davey. Y/N had always admired different traits about Davey, but spending time with him had brought a new appreciation for him out of her. A romantic appreciation. One particular night, Davey and Y/N were working on the week's lesson when Davey interrupted the lesson to say,

"I am glad I get to see you again." Y/N looked up at him out of curiosity.  Davey never said anything like that.

"I am glad to be able to see you again too," Y/N replied and Davey smiled at her. "I never thought I could miss someone as much as I missed you," She went on and Davey gently reached for her hand.

"I've liked you for the longest time, Y/N. Which is part of why I am so happy to see you again," Davey said and Y/N felt her heart stop. He liked her? Like really liked her?

"You really like me? Davey, I have started feeling things for you too. I am so happy you feel the same way," Y/N replied and Davey squeezed her hand which provided her reassurance that he meant what he had said.

"Yes. I have liked you since the day I set eyes on you," Davey answered and he gently lifted a hand to Y/N's cheek. Before either of them could register what was happening, his lips collided with hers. Y/N's arms gently wrapped around his neck and the two kissed in a loving embrace. To this day, Davey and Y/N remain the best of friends and the sweetest of lovers.
