Sun, Moon, Sky

There were once three siblings, named Sun, Moon, and Sky respectively.

Sun was the oldest, his bright smile shining down upon our world and giving it life. He adored his siblings, and would do anything just to see them smile, even if it meant traveling to the farthest corners of the universe.

Moon was the middle child, and wise beyond her years. With her night, she brought new foes to train us to be strong and cautious. But the players would always sleep through her night, making her jealous.

Sky was the youngest, his innocence and purity floating through the very air as clouds. He looked up to his siblings, and dreamed of someday being as strong as Sun, or as wise as Moon. He tried, failed, stormed, and repeated.

One day Moon, in a rage, told Sky he would never be like her. Sky was so heartbroken his clouds cried with him, causing a massive storm that lasted for 40 days.

Sun couldn't bear to see his little brother so sad, and so gave him a gift. Now Sky could brighten Moon's night with millions of beautiful stars. The storms cleared, and everyone stood outside through the night to marvel at how beautiful it had become.

But this only made Moon more jealous, feeling her older brother had taken the one thing she had to herself. So she came up with an awful plot.

Moon approached Sky when she knew Sun was resting, and asked him to follow her. Sky, as expected, readily accepted. Moon took Sky to a hole in the heavens, saying it was time Sky knew of the world below. While Sky was mesmerized by the world below, Moon cast a spell to steal his power and pushed him.

Sun later awoke to the sound of his sister sobbing and went to investigate. Moon told Sun their brother fell in a horrible accident, and died on impact.

Sun was devastated, but his sister came first. He showered Moon in gifts, giving her the most beautiful of gems, the most valuable of golds, the most expensive of silks. But still Moon 'wept'.

At a loss, Sun gave the only thing he had left to give: his power. Sun collapsed onto the ground, weakened mightily by the exchange. Moon, instead of helping the only family she had left, told Sun of what truly happened, of what she had done.

Sun was furious, but he could hardly stand, let alone fight. Moon used the powers of her brothers to build a grand palace, and locked Sun deep below it as a trophy of her triumph.

The once loving Sun felt betrayed, and simply hid in a corner and wept. He wept for the loss of Sky, for the loss of his one true friend. He wept for his own foolishness, for willingly giving Moon his power. He wept until the ground gave out from under him, and he, too, fell.

But Sun landed on a slime. He lived. And so, too, had his brother.

The brothers locked eyes, then pulled eachother into a tight embrace. Sun began to weep once more, but this time of joy. His brother was alive. And so the brothers, with nowhere else to go, began walking.

They walked, and walked, and walked, until they came upon a small hut with an old couple living within. Despite their strange and lavish clothes, the couple took them in. Sun and Sky lived with the couple until their death.

But even after death, the brothers were inseparable. Sun and Sky now protect players who lost their way as they did, until Moon one day falls from power and a new Sun, Moon, and Sky are crowned, and the cycle repeats once more.

[It's getting dark, so you close the book and head home.]

[You think you feel two presences behind you as you walk, but brush it off as just some animals.]

[This night feels safer than the previous ones - the sheets seem warmer, fluffier, safer.]

[Strange.]
