This might seem as Optimist x Pessimist, but it's not.
The tired character is an optimist on the inside and is glad that the optimistic character outwardly voices the optimism because it's what they think too.

Let's imagine they're pirates! That's fun!

What's less fun is the fact that our main cast of characters, or crew, is sailing during a storm!
The tired character looks tiredly (creative, I know) at the sea's viscous waves and the crew seem to lose hope at the sight of this character.
The optimist skips by, proclaiming that even the worst of storms pass eventually. The tired character nods, still looking into the waves (and maybe slightly blushing at the sound of their s/o).
