These two characters are an unlikely duo. I imagine the voice of reason as a tired human and the feral dumbass as an immortal or a god. Bonus points if it's one voice of reason and a few feral dumbasses.

Let's imagine this in an RPG Fantasy world. A party of a few friends decide to explore a dungeon of sorts filled with ancient hieroglyphics, glowing mushrooms, strange designs, and odd looking monsters. One by one, the party meet a god. They are all in awe except the voice of reason. The god turns out to be a total dumbass who gains a liking to the voice of reason.
At the end of their journey, the party has a few more member than usual.

Essentially, the voice of reason is a magnet to those without reason.

Also, I find it funny to imagine a person saying something like;
"It's a bad idea to touch those things."
Whilst their partner(s) are touching those things.
("They can do that because they can't die.")
