Chapter 62: Activating Retro Mutagen and Reopening the Portal
The technodrome continued its way towards the three islands with the Kraang-turned citizens, harvesting the crystals.
"We have a visual on the human hybrids, Donatello. We need that portal ready to go," Leo informed.
"Give me two seconds. I've got to add the retro-mutagen," Donnie said.
He put the orange liquid in, but once done, the technodrome stopped working and just stayed in the air.
"Something's wrong. What's going on, Donnie?! Report!" Leo asked.
"I told you, the technodrome runs on mutagen," Donne explained, yelped from a huge spark, then exclaimed, "The engines just can't take retro-mutagen, Captain!"
"Not necessarily. I just need to alter the ship's fuel convertors, tweak the quantum defiblitrons, and," Mikey assured while pressing some buttons, pressed one more and the whole technodrome glowed orange, and Mikey continued, "voilà!"
"Mikey, you're--" Raph started.
"A genius, I know," Mikey interrupted.
"Wasting time! Get this thing moving! We have to save the humans already!" Raph yelled, making Mikey cringe.
"Raph, calm down. Just think of something that can help you focus on the mission better," Leo suggested.
Raph calmed down, thinking of Jamie. It helped keep him at ease, knowing she was safe at Antonio's. At least that's what he thought. But his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a saw and a familiar, annoying voice.
"Here's Kraangy!" Kraang Sub-prime smirked through the crack he made.
"Okay, Donnie, we need that portal open! Call up the Mutanimals!" Leo commanded.
"Come in, Doctor Rockwell. Doc? You there? Anybody?!" Donnie called through his T-Phone but there was no answer.
"Great. If the Mutanimals can't transport us back, cancel the entire rescue mission," Raph groaned.
"And us going home," Leo pointed out.
Back in New York, the Mighty Mutanimals continued to kick butt while Jamie guarded Rockwell as he worked to reopen the portal.
"Just do it already!" Slash ordered.
"Now, if we can transform the portal into a three-dimensional coordinate locked beam--" Rockwell started to say until he heard a thud.
Both him and Jamie looked to see Ms. Campbell with her elbow blaster ready. She was about to fire when Rockwell froze with fear.
"Doc!" Jamie yelled, pushing him out of the way.
Ms. Campbell fired and the blast got Jamie's arm. She screamed in pain as she laid on the ground.
"Jamie!" Slash yelled then threw his mace at Ms. Campbell, causing her to hit the ground hard.
Rockwell pressed the last button and informed happily, "Yes! The portal is a go!"
Then the portal opened above the TCRI building as they all joined together.
"We did it!" Slash cheered, noticed Jamie holding her arm, then asked, "Jamie, you okay?"
"Yeah, I've had worse," Jamie answered then groaned, "I tried to heal it up the best I could, but it'll have to heal on its own the rest of the way."
"LeatherHead, fix up her arm. Rockwell, contact the turtles, but don't tell them about Jamie. We'll handle that when we see them," Slash explained.
LeatherHead had Jamie sit down as he got some medical bandage and cleaned her wound before wrapping it up.
"That was very brave, my friend. The turtles are really lucky to have you as a part of their family," LeatherHead told her.
"Thanks. Even though I lost my real parents, you guys and the turtles are part of my family," Jamie replied.
They joined the others to see what to do next.

A/N Jamie saved Rockwell's life and they managed to get the portal open. Yay! New York is going to be saved!
