Chapter 5: Escaping
Donnie woke up feeling groggy. He looked around until he saw Mikey upside down. He looked at him and shook his head. When he looked down, Raph, still as a grassy-looking blob, started growling and pouncing at them. They screamed in fear.
"Easy, Raph. Try and remember. We're your brothers," Donnie said.
"Ow! Yeah. You can come home with us and live in the attic. I'll give you glow sticks and swamp water every single day. I swear," Mikey promised.
Raph stopped growling, smiled, and panted like a dog.
"Phew," Donnie sighed with relief.
"Aah! It's 'the Creep'! That's what I named him," Mikey explained.
The Creep brought April, Casey, and Jamie in the shed. April and Casey were still unconscious while Jamie struggled to get out of its grip.
"Let us go!" she shouted.
"April! My poor sweet chinchilla!" Donnie exclaimed as soon as he saw her.
The Creep dropped them on the ground and made its way towards Raph. Jamie saw what happened to her best friend.
"Raph?! No! Get away from him!" she yelled at the creature.
"Leave him alone!" Mikey shouted as it grabbed Raph by the face.
That's when Raph started whimpering and Jamie was crying.
"What's going - April, wake up!" Casey said, kicking April in the side.
"Ugh. Huh?" she said as she woke up and they both noticed what was going on.
"Raph!" Mikey and Jamie screamed.
"It's-- It's feeding off of him, like mutagenic fertilizer," Donnie said.
Raph continued to whimper and get smaller.
"No, no, no! Raph!" Donnie shrieked.
The Creep continued to feed on him until he was nothing but a plant. It dropped his mask on what was left of him.
"You turned my brother into a plant!" Mikey yelled.
"You turned him into a plant!" Jamie retorted angrily.
The Creep grabbed Mikey by his feet and lifted him up.
"Let me go, Creep! I'll bash that mutagen straight out of you!" Mikey yelled.
It grabbed his face as Mikey screamed. Just before the Creep could do anything, everyone heard a voice outside.
"Help. Help!" it said.
It went outside, leaving the others for them to try to escape.
"Leo," Donnie whispered.
The Creep walked outside and looked around. When his back was turned, a ninja star was thrown at his head. He looked in that direction and saw Leo, eyes white and ready to battle.
"Give me back my family, freak," he threatened, tossing his crutch to the side.
As Leo fought off the Creep, Jamie was able to free herself. She was going to free the others, but they asked her to help Leo. By the time she got out, Leo was on the ground after being thrown. The Creep was coming with one of Leo's katanas in hand ready to finish the job. Jamie found his crutch and shoved it into the Creep's head before he could hurt Leo. It squealed in pain.
"Thanks, Jamie," he smiled.
"No problem. Like you said, family," Jamie replied, helping him up.
Jamie supported Leo as they walked in the shed.
"Leo!" April cheered.
"What the heck is that?" Leo asked, shocked.
"It's Raph. Long story. Quick, get us out of here!" Donnie explained.
Jamie and Leo freed everyone and she grabbed what was left of Raph. The Creep stood up and walked towards them as the crutch fell out of his face. The others then barricaded the door and got into defensive positions. Everything seemed to be quiet. That is until the Creep broke in through the wall. They screamed and started hitting, kicking, anything to take it down. Casey hit it with his hockey stick, only for it to be snapped in two.
"Aw, dude," Casey complained.
"Booyakasha!" Mikey yelled as he attacked the Creep.
They kept it going until Leo was knocked back into the table where the mutagenic medicine was. The Creep wailed as if it was his most precious possession. Once Leo figured out what was up, he tossed to April, then from her to Donnie, then from him to Mikey.
"Casey, grab the chains!" April ordered.
Just before Mikey could throw it, the Creep tied him up in vines and grabbed the medicine. But Leo shattered the bottle with the pitch fork. That's when Casey and April tied it to the tree with the chains.
"That's what you get for messing with my mask, freak," Casey growled.
"That should hold him. Now, come on. We gotta get him back to the lab," Donnie said.
"You really think you can save Raph?" Leo asked.
"Honestly, I don't know, Leo. I just don't know," Donnie replied sadly.
Later that night...
"Ugh," Raph groaned, coming to.
"Yes!" Donnie cheered.
"Oh, no. Raph. Look at him. It's terrible," Mikey moaned.
"What do you mean? He's perfectly normal," Donnie assured, confused.
April got Raph's mask and put it around his eyes.
"How about now, Mikey?" she asked.
"Phew, yeah. Way better," Mikey said.
Raph shoved his face away from him.
"What the heck is going on?" Raph wondered.
"A crazy swamp monster sucked out your mutagen and turned you into a plant, dude. It was awesome!" Casey exclaimed.
"But I used this I.V. tube to drain all the mutagen out of the Creep and back into your body. Cool, right? Killed off the infection like a bad case of shell-acne," Donnie explained.
"Ugh. Cool. Thanks, Don. So what happened to the monster?" Raph asked.
"It got turned back into swamp goo. Pretty wicked, right?" Casey answered.
"Donnie worked all night to save you. Leo and Jamie never left your side," April said.
Raph looked at Leo and Jamie and smiled.
"That's what brothers are for," Leo responded.
"And best friends," Jamie added.
Mikey squealed as Raph and Jamie hugged.
"We gotta heal up, Raph. We have a city to take back," Leo replied, fist bumping him.
"I give that a big, fat, sloppy, wet booyakasha!" Mikey cheered.
But when they were asleep, the glass cracked. Could the Creep really come back?
