Chapter 41: The Lair and Seeing Splinter
The party wagon stopped in the subway tunnels and Leo opened a hatch on the roof and scanned the area, eyes white. The others followed his lead.
"You think we'll be safe down here, dudes?" Mikey asked.
"Shh!" everyone replied.
"Full ninja mode," Leo whispered.
All of them started to quietly but swiftly make their way through the tunnels. They huddled close to the nearest wall.
"Shh. You hear that?" Raph wondered.
Next thing you know, Kraang and mousers come into view. They all stayed as quiet as they could. Casey wanted to beat them, but Raph stopped him and they managed to get to the top before the Kraang and mousers found them and disappeared.
"Phew, that was close," Leo said.
"Too close," Raph agreed.
"Got that right," Jamie breathed a sigh of relief.
"April, you think you can use your powers to track Splinter? You did it before," Donnie asked.
"I can try, but you said his mind is no longer one with his body, right? Which means he could be crazy or unconscious, or-- or who knows what?" April replied, a little nervous.
"Yeah. We still need to find him," Donnie insisted.
"Ooh, what about the lair?" Mikey asked.
They agreed and headed to the lair. It was still a mess from when the invasion started. Leo, Raph, and Donnie's eyes went white.
"All right. Mikey, you stay here," Leo ordered.
"But I want to--" Mikey started until April cupped his mouth shut and pulled him back.
"You be careful, okay babe?" Jamie said putting her hand on Raph's shoulder.
"Always am," Raph smirked, kissed her, and the three older turtles went into the lair.
The guys looked around and even almost got blasted by this Kraang-looking sphere that opened with a lot of blasters. When it stopped, it blasted a rat, turned back into a sphere, and floated away. The guys made it back to the others.
"No sign of Splinter," Leo panted.
"The Kraang have some kind of freaky security system to make sure we don't come back," Raph explained.
"Why not just go take it down and move back in? I miss our home. I miss my comic books, my VHS tapes, my action kick Unicorn Man, my collection of human underwear," Mikey complained.
"You have a collection of human underwear?" Jamie asked.
"It's not that simple, Mikey. We can't just move back--" Donnie started.
April and Jamie groaned from sensing something. It still hurt like needles in their heads.
"Guys, I-- I think--I think I sense Splinter close by. It's faint, and he seems different," April said.
"I sense it too. It's coming from this direction," Jamie added.
"Come on, hurry," April urged.
They ran until they found Splinter tearing foot bots apart. He was on all fours, hissing.
"Sensei!" Mikey called.
Splinter pounced on Casey, snapping at his face.
"Aaah! Get him off of me! Get him off of me!" Casey screamed.
"It's okay, Sensei. It's us! We're your sons! Try to remember," Donnie exclaimed as the others tried to restrain their Sensei.
"Hamato Yoshi! Please!" Jamie yelled.
"Ugh, too strong!" Mikey said.
"Sensei, it's us! It's us. Calm down," Leo cried.
They finally got him to calm down. But then, they were ambushed by some familiar enemies and Mousers.
"Oh, no! Foot!" April yelled.
"Get ready, team. Don't let them harm Splinter," Leo commanded.
They fought them off the best they could, but Splinter managed to escape from them.
"Oh, no. Splinter!" Raph replied.
They chased him, fighting off the Foot bots along the way.
"There are too many!" April yelled.
As they continued the fight, one of the Foot bots caused Jamie's leg to be dislocated.
"Ow! That's it!" Jamie growled and tackled it.
Once taken care of, she limped after the others as Splinter was kidnapped.
"Splinter!" Leo called.
"After him!" Donnie ordered.
They ran as fast as they could, but they were too late. Their Sensei was unconscious and the Foot were carrying him away.
"Sensei!" Mikey screamed.
