4 - Sleepover!

"Eileen, you've made it!"

There she was, standing in front of an unusually large bungalow across the street, a couple of blocks away from her house. Eileen, who was fiddling her fingers around her sweater, looked up to meet Gracie eye to eye.

She nervously waved her left hand and greeted the house owner's daughter,"Thanks again for inviting me, girl."

"It's nothing really,"Gracie pulled a strand of her hair behind her ear. With an angelic smile, she extended her arms to the living room, which was maroon in color and filled with luxurious furniture.

"Please, make yourself at home. The others have arrived as well." Eileen followed behind Gracie's steps into the house. All she could do that time was gulp her awkwardness away.

"Yo, Eileen! Let's get started with this work," Starla who was just about to cut some papers spotted the little teen said excitedly. She swirled the scissors in her hand, ignoring how dangerous it could be.

Eileen was anxious watching it instantly halted Starla's action."Hey, don't do that! I-I'm sorry I was late, because... I was preparing dinner for my dad before he returns home from work. After all, he always comes home late so I can clean the kitchen firsthand."

Their another group member, Margaret, chimed in by saying,"Sorry, Eileen. I forgot to tell Starla that you're currently living with only your dad," while scratching her nape.

"That's okay, guys. My mom passed on when I was in elementary so I'm pretty much used to it," Eileen calmed them down.

The girls rearranged their positions by sitting down together in a circle. Tidying their art supplies in the middle, they started their respected works with all the cutting and pasting.

As usual, girls talk even while they work. Gracie's cousin, Jane, opened a common topic to chatter about the dance.

"So, girls— did any of you ask 'them' yet?" she gestured quotation marks with her hands to emphasize the word 'them'.

"OBVIOUSLY, Mitch will be my date! Unless the new guy, Steve asks me too," Starla laughed it out.

"Well, I'm still waiting for Tim to reply me," Jane continued.

"Mordecai looks cool, but I already agreed to go with Howard," Margaret said, sounding a bit disappointed.

Gracie stopped cutting before voicing out her answer. "I don't mean to brag, but, there're these 2 guys from my class that wanted me to be their dance partner. Both of them are cute, but I just can't choose!"

"You lucky person," Jane teasingly responded. For one second, she realized.

Between them, there was still a member who did not say anything at all. "Say, Eileen~"

The girl with glasses yelped for hearing her name being called. She refused to answer that dumb question. Of course, she needed to tell to someone, but not in front of other people whom she did not know well. She tried to ignore them and kept doing the task, unaware that her face was getting red.

"... Aren't cha gonna pair up with Rigby?" There went the bomb.

"Umm, uhh... I-I-I don't...know... If he would want to go... With me," Eileen stuttered like there was something in her mouth.

"Hey, don't say it like that! He's your best friend, of course he would want you to be his partner during the dance," smiling, Starla snapped her out.

Gracie who had low-key supported the others' decision to hook up Eileen with Rigby carefully thought of a plan before telling them.

Before Eileen arrived!~

"As we're getting further in this senior year, we can see couples walking together, like, everywhere in the school! I'm soooo jealous," ranting, Jane put her hands into the air.

Resting her chin on her hand, Gracie replied," No crud, cousin. Look at the bright side, though. We're still free."

"AND SINGLE."

"Psh, whatever!" she playfully shoved her cousin.

"Anyways... Meanwhile Eileen's not here yet, what about we do something to make her to finally go out with Rigby?"

They turned to Jane with confused look on their faces.

"We gotta make it happen."

"Totes."

Back to the main timeline

"Well, we are having a sleepover now, right?"

No one could respond to that, before Gracie continued," Why don't we go to the mall tomorrow and loosen things up a bit? C'mon."

Margaret stood up and squealed," Yes! All of us could try dresses for the dance, too. I've been saving for that one nice outfit I've targeted since the New Year."

"Alright then," Starla shrugged.

She was still unstable when Jane half-yelled," You ain't gonna escape from this event, Eileen... just give it a try. Who knows that he might want you to dance with him."

Eileen looked around. Burning enthusiasm can be seen from their eyes. Taking a breath, she finally agreed.

"This better be worth it."
