Chapter 3
Pinekit sat on a hill with Sparkkit, watching the sun set over the plains that lay ahead of them. She loved the scenery of this place, and the calmness of it, too. It was like laying down in your den with your best friend after a long day of work.
"How'd you find this place, anyway?" Sparkkit asked, his green eyes sparkling reds and oranges in the setting sunlight.
"Oh, just some bird chasing," Pinekit replied quickly, "I almost tumbled over the edge of the hill when it flew off and thought, 'Hey, wouldn't this be a nice hang out spot?'"
"Well it is pretty nice," Sparkkit admitted, "And I love the scenery. It's like it was meant for us."
"Yeah, like it's our destiny," Pinekit laughed, "But I think we should get back to camp. Woodkit will be looking for us."
A bird chirped happily after she said that, as if it wanted them to leave, too. She watched it fly over to a tree, where a nest of baby birds lay. As much as she wanted to kill the birds for TreeClan, she decided against it. As much as they could use it, it would be wasting precious time.
"But it's so pretty here!" Sparkkit pleaded, "Just a little bit longer? The sun hasn't even set!"
Pinekit laughed, "Oh fine." She sat back down, intwining her tail into his as they watched the sun slowly fall from the sky.
Snap!
Pinekit jumped up; Sparkkit didn't seem to have noticed it. She looked around, but didn't see- or smell- anyone with them.
Snap!
Was it just Pinekit imagining? She couldn't tell, and went back to sitting by Sparkkit.
Crack!
Pinekit jumped again. She looked up to see- no, it couldn't be. The tree was-
"Sparkkit!"

Pinekit jolted up, sweating heavily. It was... it was just a dream.
Coldflame instantly awoke, shocked from the scream. "Pinekit, what's wrong?"
"I-I had a n-nightmare," The brown kit replied, shaking, "S-sorry about w-waking you."
"No, it's fine," Coldflame mewed, swishing her tail around Pinekit, "Mind telling me?"
Pinekit explained to her everything, from the spot they were in to the shocking ending.
"Well, sweetheart, that's never gonna happen. I don't even think any of the Clans have seen a spot like that one. Do you need any help falling back asleep?" Coldflame asked.
"I don't wanna go back to sleep," Pinekit muttered, her head hung low, "Dreams are scary."
Coldflame sighed. After a moment, she replied, "You're going to have to sleep at one point, Pinekit, every warrior does. Lots of things in this life are scary, the important part is how we face them."
"I mean, I guess that I can," Pinekit mewed, "But I don't think I can alone."
"How about I sing you something my mom would sing when I was tired?" Coldflame asked. Pinekit nodded, and she began to sing.
When the skies turn gray,
When rain falls on your fur,
When the trees begin to sway,
I'll be there for you.
When the leaves have all fallen,
When the cold bites your heart,
When little hope has risen,
I'll be there for you.
Yes, I'll be there for you.
You don't need to worry,
Because, my beautiful,
I'll be there for you.
Now rest your sleepy head,
Close your eyes, cuddle close,
Leave your worries unsaid,
And follow me to dreamland.
A/N: The song isn't important, so I might delete it later.
