Chapter 2

Despite what Pinekit noticed, Sparkkit had the moss ball, and was being circled by Sprucekit and Woodkit. Pinekit joined in, waiting to see if her theory was actually correct or if she was just imagining things. You know, like a daydream or something similar.

"I'm gonna get you, little brother!" Pinekit teased, her brown tail swishing playfully.

"Hey, I'm bigger than you!" Sparkkit growled, "And, like, sooo much stronger, too!"

Sprucekit laughed after the second part, pouncing toward him. But she ended up landing with all four paws on the soft ground of the camp instead, and sending up a small dust cloud.

Sparkkit had leaped up into the air, his brown and orange pelt almost shimmering in the sun. Instead of landing on Pinekit like he usually did, though, he ungracefully fell on his face beside her, dropping the moss ball. Woodkit instantly took the opportunity to snatch it from him, and Sprucekit moved on to tackling him. Meanwhile, Pinekit helped Sparkkit up, nervousness swelling up inside of her.

"Hey, are you okay?" The tabby she-cat questioned, "You would've usually made that, and you're acting a little," she paused, "weird."

"I feel a little bit of pain and I guess I'm a tiny bit tired," Sparkkit admitted.

"You wanna go see Birchwood?" Pinekit asked, "I bet you she knows what to do."

"No, I can still play," Sparkkit replied, followed by a small cough and a swift leap onto Pinekit.

Pinekit reached up and pawed her brother on the side of his face, squirming around in hopes to escape. Her brother was definitely weaker, but his paws were planted firmly onto the ground.

"Haha I've won!" Sparkkit triumphed, "I demand you leave," he let out a quiet cough, "right now, you evil LeafClan warrior!"

"I'm not done quite yet!" Pinekit exclaimed, taking the opportunity to push Sparkkit' paw out of balance. Pinekit laughed, "LeafClan will never loose a battle to you!" She pounced at the young tom, only to fall onto the ground and get dust in her fur.

Sparkkit had leaped away, landing in front of Timberstripe. Pinekit looked up at him, her bluish green eyes sparkling happily. Timberstripe had always been a cat she looked up to. He was an amazing fighter, the perfect hunter, and helped out around camp whenever he could. I really hope he becomes my mentor one day! She exclaimed in her head, nervous of him hearing.

"Hey, you two," Timberstripe mewed, "How are you guys doing?"

"Good," Pinekit smiled, walking over and sitting beside her brother.

"Good," Sparkkit echoed, his voice much quieter than it was before.

"I can't wait until you guys are apprentices," He stated, "I'm gonna get to be a mentor!"

"Really?" Sparkkit asked.

"For who?" Pinekit questioned, her tail twitching with excitement.

"Oakstar hasn't decided yet," Timberstripe admitted, "But I think I know which one of you I want to train."

"Who?" Sparkkit and Pinekit chorused.

"Well, uh," Timberstripe started, glancing at the group of cats exiting the camp and quickly mewed, "Oh yeah, I'm going on the hunting patrol! See you guys later!"

"This is a border patrol by the way," One of the apprentices, Falconpaw, stated as Timberstripe ran over.

"Bye!" Pinekit mewed, saddened slightly by his reply. Pinekit looked over to Woodkit and Sprucekit, and realized they were being lectured by their mom for something.

She padded a little closer, gesturing for Sparkkit to follow with her tail.

"Do you understand me, Woodkit?" Willowcloud mewed, anger tinging her voice.

"Yeah," Woodkit sighed, lowering his head down and staring at the floor.

"Now go back to the nursery," The fluffy brown mother growled, her voice softer as she added, "Sprucekit, come with me. You need to get that checked out."

Sprucekit glanced at Woodkit with a, "I'm sorry," gaze and followed her mom into the medicine den sadly.

"Hey, you two can go back to the nursery with him," Willowcloud called, "But leave him alone, he needs to learn his lesson."

Sparkkit glanced at Pinekit and shrugged. As the two walked back into the nursery, Pinekit noticed the tiniest smudge of red on the ground. "They must've been playing too rough," Pinekit muttered before entering the nursery with Sparkkit right behind her.

Pinekit started at Woodkit, which looked more like a ball of brown and white fluff. She wished she could comfort him, but that would be against his mother's orders.

A/N: Yeah, I know, still a little bit boring. But it's definitely better than the last chapter.
