Chapter Ten

Hemlockhearts kits grow bigger each day. Flamekit is the first to open his eyes. They've already exceeded the ten days they were told it would take with all their stops, having to rest for injury and for kits. It's been 18 sunrises since they left their clans.
They still travel along the same river, however its much wider and deeper now, other small rivers join it making one big river. The river is now approximately 10 or more fox lengths wide. They haven't checked how deep, all they know is they can't see the bottom.
"I want to see how deep the river is," Pinestripe mews firmly.
She slips the spring with the ruby on it off over her head.
"You're going now?" Hemlockheart asks, setting Rainkit on the ground.
"What better time than the present?" Pinestripe charges off towards the river, plunging in and diving down deep.
Brightpaw slips the string and ruby over their own head before they all go to wait by the rivers edge.
A few moments later Pinstripe explodes from the water and breaks the surface. She paddles to the edge.
"Its deep," she mews, "very deep."
"How many fox lengths?" Heatherfur steps forward.
"It must be at least 15 fox lengths," Pinestripe mews.
Brightpaw slips the ruby over their head and onto Pinestripes head.
"At least!?" Hemlockheart panics.
"The wave is very tall," Ceaderstripe mews.
"At least 15 fox lengths, just like the river," Froststar adds, "there must be a deep ravine here soon."
"Ravine?" Shrewtail tilts his head.
"A deep, narrow space between two cliffs. Double the waves height. Oceanclan is in a cave less than a tail length above the water level," Froststar explains.
"Nighteyes falls from the cave into the water and we save him, then we meet the clan," Ceaderstripe adds.
"What will we do after we've met them?" Shrewtail asks.
"We get them out of there I guess," Ceaderstripe shrugs her shoulders.
"Right," Shrewtail sounds uncertain.
"Right," Ceaderstripe confirms.
"So we go there," Hemlockheart mews, "we save Oceanclan in whatever way we can, and then we go home?"
Ceaderstripe nods and an idea pops into her head, "we could practice!"
"Because we haven't done that before," Fluffypelt rolls her eyes.
"No, that's not what I mean. I mean Froststar and I could start the vision and bring you all with us so that's we can all practice what we'll do!" Ceaderstripe jumps up.
"That's a good idea!" Burntwhisker nods quickly.
"Then let's start," Ceaderstripe closes her eyes and imagines the place and then a jolt of energy goes through her and she's there, in the vision.
She looks around to where her friends are on all sides of her.
"Run!" Froststar commands.
Hemlockheart, Shrewtail, Ceaderstripe and Hazelstripe each pick up one of the kits and begin running.
"Now climb!" Ceaderstripe starts climbing the rocky cliff wall to the top.
Once she's at the top she looks to the wave, approaching quickly. Brightpaw is the last one to the top, just in time to only get their tail tip wet.
Froststar looks side to side "Now we wait for-"
Nighteyes drops from the cave and splashes in the water. He goes under the water and swirls his paws around wildly.
Ceaderstripe plunges into the water and swims over to Nighteyes. She grabs him by the scruff and hauls him into the cave.
Ceaderstripes friends soon splash over to the cave, Brightpaw a bit slower than the rest.
Iceberry steps forward to be beside Nighteyes.
"Who are you?" She glances up from the black tom.
"I am Froststar," Froststar mews, "these are my friends Ceaderstripe, Hemlockheart, Pinestripe, Burntwhisker, Shrewtail, Brightpaw, Cocoapaw, Fluffypelt, Hazelstripe, and Heatherfur," he points with his tail to each one as he says their name.
"And these are my kits; Copperkit, Rainkit, Birdkit, and Flamekit," Hemlockheart pulls the kits closer to her.
"Are you here to save us?" A young cat in the crowd asks.
"Yes," Burntwhisker mews, "we are here to save you."
