Chapter Eighteen

"So what were you two fighting over?" Froststar looks expectantly at the she-cats whose quarrel seemed to anger the ground.
"Weather Brightpaw should get their new name before or after the journey," Pinestripe mews, glaring at Hazelstripe.
"After, obviously," Hazelstripe rolls her eyes.
Pinestripe growls, "N-"
"I'll go with whatever Hazelstripe says is best. She is my mentor after all," Brightpaw mews, sniffling a bit.
"Oh honey," Heatherfur pulls the young cat close, "it's alright to stand up for what you want. Do you want your name now or later?"
"I still haven't chosen what I want to be called yet," Brightpaw admits, "so it would make sense to wait."
Hazelstripe lifts her head and shoots a smug glare at Pinestripe.
"Don't do this," Ceaderstripe rolls her eyes at them, "remember last time you fought?"
"You mean last time we fought? The three of us," Hazelstripe squints, "of course I remember. I lost my best friends that day."
"I don't want to loose you guys again," Pinestripe looks at her paws.
"Me neither," Ceaderstripe purrs, Never again.
"Is there something we're missing here?" Brightpaw tilts her head.
Froststar laughs, "they were a mischievous bunch when they were younger."
"But they're from different clans," Brightpaw points out.
Froststar nods, "that's another story for another time."
Ceaderstripe looks at her paws I don't know if I want everyone to know quite yet.
Froststar flicks his tail, "let's keep going."
The group begins to walk again.

"Are we going to tell everyone?" Pinestripe whispers.
"Not yet," Hazelstripe mews.
"I agree, its not the time," Ceaderstripe thinks about the days when they were best friends. Ceaderstripe spent more time with them than she did asleep which caused her to slack off a little in her training. When they became no longer friends she was able to sleep at night after the pain went away.

The group continues walking before Hemlockheart suggests they rest.
"We'll need a gaurd to wake us in case there's another ground shake," Shrewtail mews.
"I'll do it," Fluffypelt volunteers, "I'm the best for the job."
"Good idea," Shrewtail nods.
"Is there any moss around?" Hemlockheart glances around the slowly darkening area.
"There might be some in there," Cocoapaw nods towards a small cave with moss dangling down the entrance.
"Let's get it," Brightpaw runs over to the cave, "come on Cocoapaw!"
Cocoapaw laughs and runs over with her.
I'm glad they get along Ceaderstripe thinks this journey would be much harder if they didn't.
They go into the cave and begin gathering moss.
"Mama!" Flamekit sqeaks and paws at Hemlockheart's side.
"Yes Flamekit?" Hemlockheart purrs.
"Why are we always traveling?" Flamekit rolls onto his back, "I just wanna stay somewhere we can play."
"We have a place like that," Ceaderstripe steps closer.
"We do?" Rainkit turns to face her.
Ceaderstripe nods, "back home. You've never been there before but its where we grew up. After we save Oceanclan we get to go back there."
"Whoa," Flamekit breathes.
"Why do we have to save Oceanclan?" Birdkit asks.
"They're in danger, there's going to be a flood," Hemlockheart pulls her kits close.
Copperkit squeals and climbs on top of her tail, "a flood?"
"Water will race after us and we have to climb these cliff walls to get away from it and save them," Hemlockheart explains.
She's got some curious little kits Ceaderstripe laughs to herself.
"We got a bunch of moss!" Brightpaw's mew is muffled by their mouthful of moss.
Cocoapaw bounces beside her and nods.
"Well let's get situated," Hemlockheart smiles, "thank you."
The cats work together to make a nest and Cocoapaw gathers more moss. They eventually have a nest gig enough for all of them to sleep in, minus Fluffypelt who will be sitting guard.
"Goodnight everyone," Ceaderstripe yawns.
"Goodnight," Burntwhisker licks her cheek.
"Night," Heatherfur snuggles Cocoapaw close.
"Sleep tight," Shrewtail yawns and lays his head beside Hemlockheart's.
Everyone says their goodnights before falling sound asleep.
