Chapter 10- Calls and Lies

♥ Chloe's P.O.V ♥

"Where are we?" My shoulder felt like it would fall off any second, blood stained my shirt and trailed down to my jeans. Jerry and the guy whom I found out was named Pete, took the bullet out and disinfected the wound, covering it with a spare t-shirt they had in the trunk.

"In our next stop," was all Pete said before both men climbed out the car. It appeared to be a gas station and several rooms were located on the far right corner of the area. No one seemed to be around here, everything looked abandoned and lonely. I looked at myself through the rear view mirror. My pale face and purplish looking lips were what I was met with. I heard them talking outside, my heart stopping when I made out what they were saying.

"What now?" Pete asked.

"He's looking for her and I have a feeling he won't stop until he has her by his side. If we leave her scent behind in fake directions towards the eastern hills, we'll have a great advantage," Jerry responded.

"But how will that work with his planned death?" Pete continued asking.

"You idiot, think about it. If we lead him to a different place, we'll have enough time to set up the chains and cover the bullets in wolf bane before he arrives. If he gets there earlier, we will be torn to shreds. It's a good damn thing she isn't pregnant or it would have gone worst for us, but at the same time, it would have been even more fun to mess with him. If all goes right, we keep the girl as our personal fuck toy and take the title as Alpha," Jerry replied.

My body felt colder by the second and I couldn't tell if it was because of the loss of blood, or the information I just heard. If I got Daniel here faster, everything would be okay, but how would I get him here quick enough? How do I meet him half way? I was useless without my wolf and I had another life on the line. Mind linking him would be the last resort. It's connected to my wolf, but if I used that part of my wolf, it would bring her back and it would also be harder to push her away and prevent my ability to shift and destroy the life I was creating. It's a risk I was too afraid to take.

If I was somehow able to get a phone, I could easily call him and describe where I was. We were still in his territory, he would know where I am. These parts are used as advantage points. Places where intruders would first step into before getting to where people lived and attack them. It gave warriors time to prepare and track them down.

My eyes landed on a buzzing object in the passenger seat. My heart soared with hope as I stared at the small object that could potentially save my life. Carefully, I leaned over the two seats after checking that both men were deep in conversation, trying to reach the phone without shaking the car too much. When the object was safely in my hand, I winced at how much pain that simple action caused.

I dialed the number and waited.

"Hello?"

"Tori?"

"Luna! You're okay! Where are you?"

"Where's Daniel?" My heart pounded loudly in my chest. "Why do you have his phone?"

"He left it here when he went looking for you. He thought it would be best to go alone with no distractions with him," she answered and I sighed. I began describing my surroundings, quietly."I know where you are!" She exclaimed and I sighed in relief.

"Tori, I need to tell you something," I nervously whispered.

"What is it?" Her tone changed into one of worry and seriousness.

"Jerry is behind this," I rambled out. Silence went through the other line. "Tori?"

"Don't worry. I'll inform Daniel," was all she said and then hung up. The phone beeped in my hand, signaling a dead battery. I rolled the window down quietly and tore a small piece of my shirt's fabric into the trees nearby.

"What the hell was that?" Jerry asked Pete, both men turning around. I threw the phone on the passenger seat, rolled the window up and feigned to be asleep.

"Must have been a rabbit."

I reached a payphone and dialed in a code that allowed me to use it without paying. A few hours had gone by and I fortunately was still able to detect her scent.

"Hello?"

"Tori, has there been any news? Any sign of Chloe?" I asked. I could hear the loud thump in my chest, waiting for a spark of hope.

"N-no, Alpha. No sign of our Luna yet," she replied after a few moments of silence.

"Are you sure?" I desperately asked. Hoping that her answer would some how change.

"Positive," she answered.

"Alright," I sighed. "Send more guards to follow me and necessary supplies for the trip," I ordered.

"Yes, Alpha," was all she said before I hung the phone back up.

Where are you, kitten?
