chapter 41
Nicolai Stone
"You don't look so well boss." Dimitri whispers as he looks into his binoculars and scouting out the building in front of us. We are atop a buildings roof. It is late at night with the full moon up in the sky, clouds swirling around it, "your face looks pale." He then says.
I'm laying on my stomach and propped up at the edge of the roof with a sniper rifle in front of me. One eye in the scope seeing figures walking into a meeting haul, "shut up." I grunt closing in on my target.
Dimitri is spotting for me incase I get the wrong guy in the other building but he has yet told me where he is located so I lean my head back, turn to him and see that he is looking off to the right side with the binoculars. I follow his line of sight and see a opened window with the curtains open--a woman laying in a bubble bath.
I grab my cane from my side and bonk the back of his head, he yelps, "fuck that hurt!"
"Focus." I order, grounding my teeth together.
He rubs the back of his head with his hand, "but seriously, you don't look good." His voice is full of concern.
He is probably right about how I'm looking. Because how I feel is total shit. I think I might be coming down with a stomach bug, "which is why we should proceed now and then go back to our room." I grumble.
Looking into the scope of the rifle I focus myself placing my finger on the trigger. I control my breathing into shallow breaths, tilt the barrel down a fraction before finally getting in the right position. Waiting on Dimitri's call.
For a moment everything is silent--the silence I loved. The quiet air between me and the bullet that's about to plunge into a man whom needed to learn his lesson. The Irish leader will pay for trying to kill my wife. I have planned this ever since the shootout in that ring store. I had to find him quick before he moves on again and can be untraceable.
We got the men who tried killing her but not their leader.
I bring out my zip lighter and flick the lid open, lighting it. The fire is stand still--so no wind to make my bullet drift from my target. Flicking the lid closed and put my lighter away and get into position again, waiting for the call.
"2 knocks and 3.6 kilometers, wind trigetory zero for the nautical per mile. Target stationed to the right." Dimitri goes into stealthmode as I aim my target. He was always good at being a spotter for me, and great with high stakes for us being here right now. Knowing every building surrounding the target had stationed men around each building. We had to be quick.
I release a slow breath and pull the trigger.
The bullet spirals and meets the head of the Irish Mafia boss--precisely between his eyes. Fucker.
My stomach gargles in protest, "alright, let's get the hell off this roof--"
"Look who is here. Some trespassers attempting to assassin an Irish leader?" A high pitched unfamiliar voice says from behind us. A woman?
Damn, this isn't good.
We get up and raise our hands up, showing that we are unarmed--for now. Leaving my cane by my foot while Dimitri chuckles like a little twerp, "your a little late now." He says.
We meet head on with a woman, none other than Shira Han, the most known for being a hitman--woman. She is wearing an all black leather suit, provocative as her breast seem to want to burst out of the seams. Long blonde hair braided and reaching to her mid section. Two daggers in hands while she smiles provokinginly at us two.
"Who hired you this time? Some thug?" Dimitri taunts, "or the Irish king who now is dead, which means you failed."
Shira's smile falters, "honestly, he was to handsy and I'm only here for personal matters. Failure was unavoidable at this point when I told him he should take his meetings low on ground--not in the highest building where he could be taken down. But men just don't listen, you know." Her grin widens, almost too scary for my liking.
"Personal matters?" I question, feeling like I want to fucking vomit my guts out. We need to finish this shit, and fast, "care to share?"
Shira chuckles kneeling into position for attack, her knives at her sides, "I've been paid to kill the most treasured prize for the Italians. Nicolai Stone, meet your death."
I don't have time for this, "k."
Dimitri was quick to act when he flings his own knife out from his suit and throws the dagger her way. She dodges it and charges after us...
Until a dark figure comes from the side and grabs ahold of her arm--twisting her body into the air and slams her tiny body into the dirty ground. She groans and tries to fight back but the figure kicks the other hand away and presses his knee into her back, "easy now cat woman I would advise you step down and submit. Your too pretty for shredding blood from your body."
Caspian.
I've forgot that I recruited him to help me with this mission. He is good at fighting and being unseen, "finally." I groan before turning around and bend over the building edge, puking my guts out.
Dimitri gags, "bro, that's gross. Woah man, I think your sick."
No shit.
Fuck, I feel like shit.
"I'll bring Miss Han into my custody, you better get well, Stone. We have more to do on this trip if we need to loosen some ends and gain some soldiers." Caspian mentions from behind me.
Yeah yeah, "Dimitri." I call his name.
"Boss?"
"Don't just stand there! Help me down the stairs you fucking prick!" I shout, stomach twisting in nausea, "dammit." I growl before puking more down the side of the building.
"Gross!" Dimitri groans looking up at the midnight sky, "bet Don is having the time of his life with Sienna. Why me?"
I swear I want to murder him, "don't make me push you off this roof, help!" I glare daggers up at him.
He helps me up and supports my side as I use the cane on my other, groaning in misery, "see you at the port house. Miss Han will be our new recuit."
"Like I'd help you!" She shouts struggling in the ground while Casp is practically sitting on her, "no amount of money you give me will convince me!"
I raise a brow, "uh uh, think about your daughter Miss Han...ah, isn't she still in preschool? Wouldn't you want her to have a decent life?"
I would never threaten with kids involved but I'm desperate to have her on our side.
Shira tenses, "leave my daughter out of your lips."
I smirk, "join us and your daughter will have the finest care, protection, and all your medical bills will be gone. I know they haven't paid you good. Let me provide you a comfortable life."
My intentions are half out of my cold heart, it's the best I can offer her, "take her to Port and we'll meet you there. Think about my offer Miss Han."
Dimitri helps me over the exit where the stairs are, "you haven't told me who the next person your recruiting, who is it?"
I debated this option many times but as I said before I'm desperate to have all the protection I need in case of War with Edmund. It is coming, especially when my plans are working toward that Ball at the Loutons. Time is of the essence and I will not waste it.
"Julian Masters."
He may be young but I've heard of him before. His skills on shooting is insane and he is also good at hacking into servers. Masters is currently in England on a mission. How I know is because the Germans scouted him and gave me info on this young man.
It's still not enough but it will have to be.
Because I know Edmond is planning a bigger game. I can feel it.
Fuck, "hurry up! Unless you want my dinner on your suit!"
Too late...
"Oh, come on!" Dimitri whines, gagging.
