Love Letters

Double update (this one's kinda short) you guys ;0
_________

Jason watching the three of those kids start to walk away as he leaned against the surprisingly sturdy doorway. Then he went back inside.

He wished he knew who had lived here before him. He hadn't found anything except for a few love letters in a cabinet. He had kept them of course, but they weren't signed.

They were always written to some lady named Triste.

The first time Jason had read them, he had wanted to meet Triste, but he had examined them for for hours (there wasn't much else to do)  but there was nothing that would tell him where she was. He had originally planned to bring the letters to her, he felt like Triste should have them. Whoever had written was clearly very infatuated with her. There was just nothing to imply anything about her, except she was obviously very beautiful, and very mysterious.

Then those three had showed up. They were already traveling, He thought one of the girls had said something about Zestos, that was up North, right?

Jason stiffened suddenly, running off to his room and grabbing a bag. He grabbed some neatly folded clothes and started stuffing them inside.

"What are you doing?" Lafayette asked, tilting his head.

"I'm going after them!' Jason said excitedly.

Lafayette's eyes widened. "You are? What in Kosmos bloody name has got you thinking that?"

"You know Triste right?" Jason continued, still grinning with excitement, he grabbed another bag and started filling it with fruit and other various slow-rotting rations.

Lafayette dipped his head up and down in agreement. "I thought you said you couldn't figure out where she lived."

"I know! I'm kinda going out on a limb here, but I still want to give those letters to her. At least this way I won't be traveling alone."

Lafayette snorted, or at least, the bird version of a snort. "That's a long limb."

Jason shrugged, grabbing a quiver and stuffing it full of arrows. "I know, know. I think this is a sign. Besides, what am I gonna do, just stay here for the rest of my life?"

Lafayette nodded again. "Yeah."

Jason hummed to himself as he opened the drawer by his cot and gathered up the letters. He was careful with them. They had been written on some sort of fancy paper that was surprisingly durable. It was probably magic-woven, because they had stayed in moderately good condition, Jason had no idea how old they were. He had a small tube that he carefully rolled them up into, there were about eight of them in total.

"Are you gonna be able to keep everything, you know, under control around the other kids?" Lafayette demanded.

Jason froze, tensing up. He stopped packing and frowned at Lafayette.

"Are you doubting-?"

"No." Lafayette muttered, looking guilty. "I'm just worried."

Jason waved him off, pulling his various bags around his shoulders. "I'll be fine. We'll be fine."

He pulled on some heavy leather gloves, and buckled on a belt with a few of his favorite knives. Back from his old home, but Jason didn't like to think about that. He held out his arm and Lafayette hoped onto his shoulder.

Jason walked out the door for maybe the last time, and ran to catch up with the others, love letters in hand.
