Chapter Three

Ayame tilted her head at the forehead protector in her hands, trying too decide where she should place it. First she put it up against her waist and scrunched up her nose in the mirror, shaking her head. "No, definitely not."

She then placed it against her forehead, as she ad seen many other's do and shook her head again, her red hair flying around. Deciding to go with her last option, Ayame tied the forehead protector around her neck, sighing.

Ayame thought it wasn't the best place she could put it, seeing as it could easily get in the way, but it was the only spot she had left and she was sure she was already running late. Quickly running out of her room, Ayame passed Kurenai, smiling, "Bye!" She called before she left the house, running to the academy.

Ayame got there as quick as she could and her eyes widened once she saw when she got into the classroom. In front of her were two boys, kissing, one was Naruto and the other was Sasuke Uchiha. The sight surprised her, seeing as she always thought Naruto had liked Sakura Haruno. It seems the young girl was wrong, yet again.

Shaking her head from the sight of Naruto being beat up from Sasuke's fangirls, Ayame took her seat next to her friend, Hinata. Ayame liked Hinata, seeing as the girl was quiet and usually kept to herself, the same way Ayame did. She guessed that was why they got along so well, they were almost exactly the same.

Ayame scrunched up her nose, an anime vein forming on her head at she caught Kiba looking at her again, "Stop looking at me, pervert!" She shouted, punching the boy on his head. Everyone around them started too laugh, and Ayame turned red in embarrassment.

Seconds later, Iruka walked in and everyone instantly stopped talking, anxiously awaiting the news on what team they would be placed on.

As Iruka started explaining everything, how there would be teams of three and one of four, Ayame tuned him out. She didn't care about the rules, she just wanted too know who her team mates were! Ayame secretly hoped that she would be placed on the same team as Kiba, but she would never let anyone know that. She also wished Hinata was on her team, seeing as the Hyuga had been Ayame's first friend.

Ayame tuned back in as Iruka started reading off team seven's names, "Sakura Haruno, Naruto Uzumaki, and Sasuke Uchiha." Both Sakura and Naruto looked like they wanted too die.

Naruto went off shouting about "why was he placed on the same team as Sasuke" and it just escalated from there. Ayame shook her head again, leaning forward on the desk, only wanting too know her team.

"Moving on. . . " Ayame heard Iruka mumble, and turned, looking at her Sensei. "Team eight! Kiba Inuzuka, Shino Aburame, Hinata Hyuga and Ayame!" The young girl couldn't help herself as a smile broke out across her face and she looked next to her, seeing Hinata smiling shyly as well.

Ayame's smile disappeared however when she heard a groan next to her, "Oh come on!" Kiba shouted, causing everyone too look at him and snicker, knowing how much the boy disliked the red-haired girl now on his team.

"You have something too say, Kiba?" Iruka asked, trying too maintain his cool.

"Yeah! I don't want to be on the same team as an ugly, weak girl!" Iruka sighed, going too explain the same thing he had just told Naruto but stopped when he saw the dark aura coming off of Ayame.

"What did you say, Kiba?" Ayame muttered, her eyes hooded by a shadow.

Kiba turned, a smirk placed upon his face, "I said you're an ugly --" He stopped short, his eyes widening as Ayame jumped onto his.

"Take that back!" She shouted, now sitting on top of Kiba.

Iruka sighed, and just left the room, deciding not too bother with the troublesome pair. The other students went about their business, ignoring the two rolling around in the middle of the classroom floor. However, everyone stopped once the door opened once again and a women walked through, a man smoking a cigarette right behind her.

The women widened her eyes at the sight of a girl with red hair and an Inuzuka boy rolling around on the floor, throwing insults at each other. "Ayame!" The women shouted, running over too try and separate the two.

The man that had walked in as well grinned, 'So that's Ayame, eh?' He thought, looking around the room. "I'm here for team ten!" Instantly, Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji stood up and that team quickly left.

The women bent down, grabbing Ayame from the back of her clothes and pulled her off the boy, "Ayame! I thought I told you to be nice to everyone!" She scolded, a frown on her face as the other students watched with interest, thinking they had finally met Ayame's mystery mom.

"He started it!" Ayame said, trying too defend herself.

"Did not!" Kiba shouted, earning a glare from Ayame.

Kurenai sighed, shaking her head at the two. "Well, I'm here for team eight!" The women shouted, Shino and Hinata got up, following their new sensei out, Ayame and Kiba following, but not before they fought over who got to leave the classroom first and got stuck in the door.

Kurenai sat in front of her four new students, her eyes resting on Ayame who looked like she was having a difficult time trying not too beat Kiba to a pulp.

"Well, what do we do now?" The Inuzuka asked, his nose scrunched up in distaste.

"Introduce yourselves." Kurenai stated simply, shrugging.

The boy sighed, muttering stuff underneath his breath and Ayame turned to him, anger in her eyes, "What did you just say about Kurenai-sensei?!"

The boy narrowed his eyes at Ayame, as if trying too debate if he should tell her, "Nothing." He replied shortly after, probably thinking it would be better if he didn't get into another fight with the small girl.

Kurenai turned towards the Hyuga, nodding for her to introduce herself. "A-ano, I'm H-hinata Hygua. . . " She muttered, her pointer fingers touching slightly as she quickly looked towards the ground.

Next, Kurenai looked towards the Aburame, "Aburame, Shino." He said quickly, and shortly.

Now Kurenai was stuck between the two who she knew would be the most trouble on her team, sighing. "One of you, please go." She muttered, a sweatdrop forming.

"I'm Kiba Inuzuka!"

"Ayame!" Everyone looked at Ayame disappointed, seeing as she had still never told anyone her last name and they were looking quite forward to it. However, Kurenai saw no reason in trying too pressure Ayame anymore, seeing as the Hokage had finally let the matter drop.

"Alright! Line up!" Everyone looked at their new sensei confused but obeyed her orders. "You're now going to be put to the test too see if you're actually fit enough to be ninjas. I want everyone too throw shuriken at the targets at the other side of the field, let's see how good everyone's aim is."

The students nodded, instantly reaching too grab shuriken and started throwing. Kurenai watched with interest, seeing Hinata had nearly made every single one into the middle of the target, only missing a few, Shino hitting everyone dead center, then her gaze shifted to Ayame and Kiba.

Kiba was struggling greatly, he had only gotten one shuriken at the end of the target, but Ayame was far worse. Someone how all of her shuriken had completely missed the target and were scattered across the training grounds.

"Well, not that bad." Kurenai said, forcing a smile onto her face but stopped when she saw Ayame glaring at her.

"Liar! You said I was getting better, but look!" She shouted at the women who had secretly been training her the past few months, even while she was still in the academy.

"You have Ayame, you didn't almost kill anyone this time." The three other students watched on curiously, wondering how the two seemed too know each other.

"That doesn't matter!" The young girl shouted, seeming to have forgotten about everyone else there and instantly tears filled the young girls eyes. She knew that she looked weak at the moment, but how was she supposed to get stronger if she couldn't even hit the target with a single shuriken?

Hinata reached her hand out, gently placing it on Ayame's shoulder, only to have Ayame turn around and slap the hand away, "D-don't touch me!"

The Hyuga instantly looked down at the ground, making Ayame feel instantly bad but that didn't stop her from running away.

No one even followed to make sure she was okay.

Ayame sat quietly in her room, curled up into a tight ball on her small bed. She didn't know what she had expected when placed on a team, Kurenai had warned her there would be a training exercise and here was Ayame, the girl who had run away from it. She was sure she would fail now.

Ayame ignored the tears rolling down her cheeks, trying too think of other things. She didn't know how she was supposed too react, seeing as she had never really used her emotions before. She didn't understand why she was crying and just wanted the pain too stop.

Sure, Ayame was glad that she was here instead of with the horrible snake man, but she didn't think that the pain of liking someone who hated her would hurt so bad.

Ayame was weak.

Ayame was ugly.

Ayame was fat.

Ayame didn't deserve to be here.

Now, Ayame fell asleep to these horrible thoughts going through her head.
