The murder of Ross William, that's all that everyone is talking about. What was he doing on the old campus when it's been closed for months? Why did he go to campus when he was supposed to be in Miami with his girlfriend? So on and so forth...

But for me, all that mattered is it was finally the day that I'll be going back home. Everyone was stopped from leaving the campus while they got statements and whatnot. It took them a whole week to sort out everything, making me late but now I can finally leave hell.

I still remember my interrogation.

They had changed the nursing room to an interrogation room. It seemed to be more like an interview with questions like, where were you? When was the last time you saw him? Any other thoughts you can share with us? And blah blah blah.

It had been raining for 2 days now so I wanted to leave as soon as possible. I love rain, Rain has the power to even remove the existence of a person.

I just finished packing my last suitcase, ready to leave when I got a text from an unknown number saying Megan, my friend, got hurt near the old campus. As much as I was worried for Megan I was more annoyed that now I have to deal with this rather than go home. I even thought just to ignore it but Megan and I have been friends for over a year now. We met during chemistry and hung out since then. Megan had a regal bearing. High, delicate cheekbones, small nose, luminescent green eyes, creamy smooth skin, and silky blonde hair.

Now there had been a murder on that campus and getting a text from an unknown number is enough to spook me. Is it spooky enough for me to not go? Nope. But yeah it is enough spooky for me to take my pepper spray with me.

I reached there in 15 mins only to see No Megan but Reed West that too with a water gun. Before I even said anything he started spraying it on me and instead of water what came was white shaving foam. Reed was laughing his ass out.

Reed West, was over 6'1" tall. He was muscular and could easily defeat me if we ever fought.

I breathed in and out to calm myself but his laughter was making me more annoyed. Was it let's annoy the shit out of Tessa's day?

He came to me wiping his tears and said, "Did you see your face, Tee? It was hilarious. It was so worth stealing your number from the school office."

Before he could say anything else I slapped him hard and it was just a coincidence but a loud thundering voice was heard. I looked at him with anger while he was shocked.

Not wanting to waste even a minute, I started walking back to the dorm. There was another thunder but this time louder than before.

"Hey, wait up. Who do you think you are, bitch?."

I stopped but not because of him, what stopped me was the large pile of rubble that was blocking my path. I looked right and left but couldn't find any way. I looked behind to see Reed looking at the rubble as well.

The rain started to fall harder, and with no other choice, I started moving toward the old campus.

"Looking at the rubble will do nothing. Let's take shelter on the campus for now." I said without looking back. I knew he was following me because I could hear his footsteps in the rain.

Pretty soon we were on the campus, soaked and shivering with cold. The rain also didn't give any indication of stopping.

There should be another set of clothes here, the school always kept extra clothes. Soon enough we found the lockers and thankfully the clothes were still there, a little dusty but dry.

I grabbed one set and went to the washroom to change. All this while my head was filled with thoughts like, "I am so stuck here, there is no way out. I don't even have food and the worst thing is that I am stuck with him."

After clearing my thoughts I came out to see Reed leaning against the wall, smoking. When he saw me he spoke, "Look we both hate each other's gut, we will rather die than stay in each other's company. Now as much as I am tempted to kill you to be alone let's just stay away from each other and go on our way"

Without even waiting for my reply he went away. Before I was just annoyed now I am furious. Who does he think he is? I am stuck here because of him, if it wasn't for him I would have been on my merry way and now he dares to say that to me. How dare he!

Trying to calm down, I remembered that I brought pepper spray with me. I went towards the basement. Yes, Our school had a basement, never knew why.

Our school had the typical basement where anyone could say that people have died here and just so it happens, Ross also died there.

The basement had the walls of a castle and strong gray rock that provided the school with a firm foundation. Because of the rain, it was dark with no light. I opened my phone to turn on the flashlight.

After some time, I went towards our old classroom. There were no chairs in the room, the only light came from outside through the windows. It was all still the same except that moron was now smoking there looking out of the window. He must have seen my reflection in the window as he turned towards me with a scowl.

"Did you not hear what I said?-"

He didn't wait for my reply before so I didn't let him finish this time and sprayed the pepper spray.

He screamed with hands over his eyes. Before he could see not that he could, I stabbed him in his carotid nerve and he instantly started bleeding.

I stabbed him with scissors, which I picked up in the basement.

I knew in a few minutes he would be a goner, but I knew for sure because Ross was also gone just like that.

"Listen here you trash, I was on my merry way. You shouldn't have called me here and you definitely should not have pissed me off."

Choking, all he could say was, "You killed him." Before falling limp.

As for me, I was just annoyed. Why can't they just mind their own business? It was just like this with Ross as well. In all this annoyance, I didn't even notice why he said that I killed him or more importantly how he was so sure.

******************FLASHBACK (THE DAY ROSS DIED) *************

I was standing in the basement of the old campus re-reading the note where Ross said to meet me here. I have been waiting here for 15 minutes now with no sign of Ross.

With a frustrated sigh, I was just about to leave when Ross came running. Ross Williams is the popular kid in our school. This tan-skinned boy, 5'9" in height and a six-pack. He has shoulder-length neat brown hair. Yet he always reminds me of the beach.

"Tessa, I am so so soooo sorry. I am supposed to be in Miami so it was hard to come here without being seen."

I waved my hands indicating to him to tell me the reason as to what exactly am I doing here?

With a deep breath, he spoke, "I love you, Tessa. Even when I am with Monica all I can think about is you. Please accept my request and be my girlfriend. I will break things with Monica. Please say yes."

He looked at me with his ocean-blue eyes. He looks too much like the beach. With a sigh, I replied, "Ross, I don't like you that way. So please don't make this difficult for me."

I said hoping to end the matter and leave quickly. But he grabbed my hand repeating how much he loves me, how much he cares about me, and how he can't live without me.

Freeing my hands, I said, "You love me and you can't live without me. Ok then, prove it."

He stood like a statue trying to see if I meant it or not. When he saw that I meant it, He took out a scissor and went for his neck only to stop trembling.

I could see it, he didn't have the guts to complete what he started. So I clasped my hands around his hands and pushed them towards his neck.

He started choking, looking at me in horror as if he could not believe I had just done that.

"You know, if you had done it without me helping you I truly would have accepted you. I mean if you love me then be ready to die for me. Why is all this at the end of the day my fault? Yes, It's all his fault for not loving me fully. If he loved me he would have not trembled. He was a scared cat but..."

I looked at him again, my beach, my summer was now red and cold. I grabbed the scissor and hid them in the secret wall. The wall, Ross and I found a few months back when we were dating when Monica was back home. In a way, Ross was cheating on Monica but that had nothing to do with me. It was his decision and I just liked him at that time.

But that's it, I liked it for the short term. I was soon bored of him so I dumped him. But alas, look where he is now. He should have just moved on.

************** THE STORY BETWEEN REED AND TESSA ***************

It had been 5 months since I dumped Ross, of course, no one knew. And now I had a new crush, the star football player, the school playboy, Reed West.

Unlike Ross, Reed could be called a man. Ross is a boy compared to him.

After some time, we finally started dating but this time not in secret. His friends knew, my friends knew.

5 months, after 5 months I already started liking someone else. Me and that new kid, a nerd were kissing in the parking lot when Reed came out of nowhere and started beating him up.

I pushed him of course but that got a lot of attention and before I knew it, we became enemies.

Since then we have had many fights.

********************* BACK TO PRESENT ***************************************

Reed was dead, I could see that. This time instead of hiding the scissors I took them with me. The rain had stopped but it was early hours so it was hard to see. The sun has not risen yet.

I started to walk up the mountain to go around it. Because of the rain, it was slippery all over the place. I always wondered why I always hit them in the carotid, was it because they can't scream or stop themselves from speaking from annoying me further? I guess I never took the liberty of thinking that.

My phone started ringing suddenly, giving me a scare, and making me slip. Before I knew I was falling and hanging on a tree.

When I looked down I could see a river and I knew if I fell I would die. I tried to climb but just by luck the branch I was grabbing broke and soon I fell into darkness. All this while I was just thinking that maybe things could have worked out between me and Reed.
