Chapter 2 of The Everly Crest Story. Hope you all like it so far.

CHAPTER 2

I looked up and saw Aron, my camera man panting. I merely looked at him then continued reading my file.

"Breaking news....Mayor dead....live coverage"

As soon as he said that, must I say he got my attention. "The mayor is dead?"

"yes, now let's get going."

I nodded and closed my file. On our way out I told Laura to call if anything happens.

It took 15 mins to reach the murder site, it was already swarming with reporters.

"Aron, let's start"

He was already setting up the camera and rest of the instruments. I fixed my hair and took the mic

"okay, in 1 2 3 and you are on"

"With the rise of killings in the city, now even the mayor was left. We are live from the mayor's office where around 1 hour ago the mayor's dead body was found."

At that moment I got a call, I signaled Aron to put a break as this call is important. I went to a secluded area to attend this call.

"hello, sister. To what do I owe this pleasure?"

I said that smiling. Her reply didn't shock me that much, but I knew now what to do.

"Hey, sis. I'm going to meet our brother soon. What do you think he will give me as a return gift when I save his ass"?

"What do you mean, Everly? What are you going to do?"

She asked, a little confused. I know she can't see me, but I couldn't stop the smile forming on my face.

"Just keep up with the news, and yeah how soon can we meet, I found something for you"

"you do know that all you are doing is confusing me"

I laughed at this comment and thought how cute our sister is and said I will explain everything later.

I went back to Aron and said that I have found something extremely useful related to this case.

"As we have mentioned earlier that our mayor is dead. But we have got a breakthrough in the case. BNN news is the first to show this, when our mayor was killed a person is identified at the time of murder. We will happily help the police with the investigation but the people of Ambhibianax deserves to know the truth. The identified person's name is Oliver Hastings. He had been recently seen in a police station for a murder with a witness. Now the police said that it was a misunderstanding, but will they ignore this when the mayor is involved. The reality is that they let him go as he murdered a bad person, but does it not matter that he killed someone? Maybe he thought that the mayor is bad and killed him, then what the police will let him go again? The people are getting more and more anxious. Stay tuned for more news. As soon as we were done, the buzzing just got more but I ignored it as usual and told Aron to pack up as we have an interview pending.

The police station was busier than usual due to obvious reasons. I made my way to Detective Estrove's office. She was reading some files but looked up when we entered her office. She offered her hand. I took it and said, "Detective Estrove, I am Everly crest and this is my colleague Aron. You must have heard from the director of BNN.

She nodded and motioned at one of the chairs and took a seat.

I looked at Aron and after a few minutes we were ready for the interview.

As soon as Aron nodded indicating the camera is on, I started speaking. "This is live coverage from detective Estrove's office, I am Everly crest, showing the exclusive footage of the interview with detective Estrove. So, detective Estrove, what are your thoughts on the mayor murder case?"

Estrove: "The murder of the Mayor was quite a surprise to me. I hope his family is doing okay. I'm not sure what will happen next. Who is going to be the next Mayor? And will our city crumble down in flame without him? I can't share any information about the case as it's an ongoing investigation."

Everly: "We understand, you can't share information related to the case but as you asked yourself who is going to the next mayor. Who do you think should be our next mayor?"

Estrove: "I'm not sure who it will be, I just have hope that it will be someone good who can help get this city back into shape. Otherwise, the mayor's son is also a good candidate."

Everly: "What about the sniper cases? What do you say about that?"

Estrove: "For the sniper cases, we have gone with it being the same unsub, person. We've found the evidence and analysis of the way of the murders to be the same. We are working diligently to see if there have been other cases before this one that correlates. I wouldn't want to say too much. We are doing our best and with the reports from today, we may have something. That's all for that."

Everly: "The people are very afraid that they are not safe even in their homes, what's your perspective on that?"

Estrove: "I understand that they may be scared, but hope is what we have now. I know it may seem very tough to think optimistically, but I believe that this city will be just fine. We might have to face some obstacles, so I understand that this won't be easy. I will do my best to make this city feel safer, everyone must believe in us and themselves. To go back on people feeling unsafe, I get that. At a young age, I had to deal with a similar turmoil. Everyone should just enjoy themselves with each other, like it's there last. Even though it may be a sad outlook, it makes every day much more special."

Everly: "Thank you detective for giving us your valuable time in your busy schedule"

Estrove: "To answer the question our people have; they should not lose hope in us."

"and cut" Aron said, motioning me that we are done with the interview. I went where Aron was standing and said, "go to the office and see everything is done in right order"

He nodded and went out.

I looked at Estrove smiling and went to hug her. She was smiling back and hugged me back saying, "I missed you sis."

After we both settled down, I took out a file and handed it to her. She looked at the file curiously and before she could ask I said, "this file contains a list of all the people who were near your mother at the time of her death, I am sure the murderer is one of them."

I said that reassuringly and offered a small smile.
