Blue Delight

After Black's successful trial, the team felt closer than ever. There were no secrets between the four, and all was bright and cheerful when together. Although, one secret Jack was keeping from them would be revealed two weeks before the Physical Exam. A bit too close for comfort he admitted to himself, but he had faith the team would prevail and shine regardless. He met them in the forest, trembling with anticipation of their reactions. In his hand a royal gold leather suitcase, rich with two certain types of Power that made it one of a kind. He had the team forge a makeshift table with what they had around them and placed it down, tapping it like a drum to build tension within his friends. "Come on, just open it!" Scarlet exclaimed impatiently.
"Obey the woman, Blue!" Alex cried behind Black's detaining hold to stop him spoiling the surprise.
"Alright, you guys know I've been picking all your brains about your abilities and testing you all on your skills, right?"
"We're not gonna do that weird Power experiment crap again, are we? As much as I'd want to I can't turn into a great sword." Alex complained with the pain of constant mental and physical strain.
"No! Well, maybe not, you could try a bit more." Answered Jack with a chuckle in his voice, "instead, I got to work outside school-hours!" He opened the case and dug his arm inside. Carefully, he revealed a royal red, thin rectangular case and handed it to Scarlet with a playful bow to her. "If you would?"
She curtsied back after gasping excitedly just at the aesthetics of the case, obviously meant to suit her. Alex groaned and rolled their eyes. "Quit flirting and show us, Scar!"
The ginger whined. She carefully lifted out a hook sword, similar to her own. The blade looked different and more sturdy and stronger than her own, it gleamed brilliantly in the sunlight. The handle looked more royally designed with gold and scarlet red outlines decorating it, as well as the whole thing being noticeably thicker and a little heavier. She admired it with a delighted smile, the other's stared in awe at her upgrade, but it wasn't done yet. Jack repositioned her hands on the handle - pressing one thumb down on the handle as the other kept a firm hold of in in place. He had her twist the sword vertically; to their overwhelming astonishment, it split into two. A duplicate hook sword lay in her other hand. With a proud grin, Jack explained his design. "Tough than normal, exceptional under it's looks - with an added secret or two. Suits you!" He rested the main blades on her shoulders, raising the smaller blades beneath the handle and with the push on one of two buttons on either blade, they fired like throwing daggers, sticking firmly in the tree feet away. Next, he aimed her arms up toward the trees and pressed her thumbs down on the second of the two buttons. The end hooks shot out like stray dogs on a leash, followed by a sturdy rope that catapulted her into the distant wildlife with a happily terrified scream. "Enjoy!" He then turned to Alex and Black, who were blinking dumbfoundedly still. "I think we'll do Alex next," he started, setting the small boy off into an ecstatic fit, leaping out of Black's hold and circling them five times before Jack made it back to his suitcase of surprises. With some struggle and the smaller boy's help, Jack managed to pull out a large box full of armours and some spray cans. Not only that, pages of neat instructions and tips for each set. "I know you like to make your own armour, but I wanted to surprise you. You have the privilege of decoration, though. My ideas are all on paper in there with it - it'll teach you everything you need to know and even a few fighting technique ideas." He smiled, wiping sweat from his brow. "Other than that, go crazy! I'm looking forward to seeing you in action."
The ginger's jaw dropped to the floor upon only a quick peak at the inside of the box. He tried to gesture a passionate thank you but was too speechless to make up words. In the end, he squeezed Jack's breathe from his body then took up the box like a basket of cookies and skipped off behind a bush to replace his scrappy armour with the new gifts from his new best friend.

Now left Jack and Black standing opposite each other. The criminal heir said nothing. His leader reached into the case and a long black case similar to Scarlet's materialised from inside, lined with a fitting chrome design with the matte black. He held the case out and Black opened it. Inside, lay two daggers, clearly concealing a few tricks and designed perfectly to please him aesthetically. Alongside the blade engraved with a single, tall flame was a thin tube Jack warned him not to look down. The hilt was engraved with a crow's head, making the shapeshifter chuckle to himself. Inspecting lower, the handle was smooth which allowed him to spin them both with unbelievable speed. Hidden beside the hilt, a small trigger peaked the boy's interest. He pushed it down and a shell of shrapnel left the tube rapidly with a fairly loud bang. He jumped slightly then investigated the tree in which it hit, a pointed metal cylinder wedged in the wood made his muscles ache not to smile. "You've outdone yourself, Jack, thank you."
"Don't mention it! And don't think I've done this for my own benefit, my days of being carried by you three are done! Check this out!" He boasted a white sheathe outlined with basic gold lining. Unsheathing it, the swords blade seemed to glow a perfect matte chrome silver, hilted with a galaxy blue colour, the symbol of a hold long sword erect vertically on it. The very same navy blue ribbon decorated his handle, it took away from the fresh new, changed-person vibe, but went as a reminder to the brunette boy as to where he started. A rusty hand-me-down sword to a tactical, noble one handed weapon inspired by the people around him. Not only that, he placed steel knight armour with a stripe of blue over his left shoulder. It reached up to his collar and down over the back of his hand. Other components of a full set of armour were created in a matching style: a chestplate, sabatons (armour plates that cover the feet and forward ankle) and knee guards and elbow guards. His outfit stayed identical underneath it all - he still looked more combat ready, definitely more than he did when the year started! They'd all come a long way since that fateful day on Amber Island, in their own ways. As Jack put his sheathe and sword at his waist, a low rumble shook the ground they stood on. The pair balanced themselves and looked at each other oddly. It wasn't the first time a mystery earthquake hit the island since Black's trial.

The team reconvened at the same spot to boast their new equipment and shower Jack with more gratitude. The day quickly moved to strict independent training to get used to their upgrades. Overtime they'd come together and form team and pair moves like the classic switch they'd gone for a hundred times previously. Their Physical Exam was closer than they cared to believe - no knowledge of how they would be examined left them blind. No day, hour or minute could be wasted. The year had flown by faster than the one beforehand, and had gone particularly well overall. But Team Blue-Sabre knew the routine: just as things start going well, terror follows to remind them of what life is truly like.
