It's been one month. A whole month since everything that took place in that building. A month since everything changed drastically.

Luckily Jeongguk wasn't harmed at all,though he was heavily traumatised and it took him a while to just stop thinking about it because he can't hear this quickly. His only hope to still move on was Taehyung...only if the latter wasn't so distant.

It took Taehyung a whole week to wake up. He had Tons of drips inside his arms,Bandages on his head,his torso,and his legs. Bruises over his face and chest. It was not looking good for him. The head injury was really serious and doctors were shocked at how much blood was lost yet Taehyung still made it.

That week was hell for Jeongguk as even he himself hadn't moved on yet and seeing Taehyung everyday for weeks straight lifeless in the hospital bed,he was depressed. The tightening feeling inside his chest wouldn't leave until he would see Taehyung.

So the second he woke up, Jeongguk ran to the hospital only to find just as lifeless Taehyung but now awake. There was no emotion on his face,just a blank stare. When his eyes fell on Jeongguk,his eyes started to well up with tears.

Bursting into tears just by the sight of the younger man. It shocked Jeongguk too,he didn't know what to do that day. So he sat next to him,pulling him into his arms as Taehyung cried in his chest for hours. Mumbling words Jeongguk couldn't understand,Saying things he wished he could help him with.

Apologizing,a lot of it. He was apologising every other second. Whenever Jeongguk would come he would apologise. As much as the younger tried to stop him,he still went on.

Until the apologising stopped,everything stopped. Taehyung was still admitted in hospital,he was going to be discharged in a few days until he had recovered enough to go home.

The lifeless Taehyung he saw the day he woke up was back. There were no more apologies, just small responses. Jeongguk tried to converse with him more,tried to be more uplifting to abandon the depressing aura around the man but nothing worked.

First he thought maybe it's that time again. This happens everytime Jeongguk is involved in a mission and gets harmed. Taehyung ignores him because he feels guilty and then slowly he comes around because he loves him too much to stay away.

But it was a bit different this time. At Least back then they used to talk more,they fought about it,they communicated on what went wrong and how they could fix it. It wasn't like this anymore. They barely even talked.

It was so bad he would feel awkward sitting in the same room as him. He doesn't want to fight,he doesn't want to stress him out considering his health. He doesn't...want to be a burden on Taehyung. He isn't a burden but the way the older is acting,he can't help but think that.

Taehyung wasn't angry with him like he usually is,Taehyung isn't annoyed,Taehyung isn't dramatic or emotional about the situation anymore he is just cold.

When the day came when Taehyung would finally get discharged,Jeongguk was the first one to get there. He went through all the reports,got all the clearance from the doctors and got the green flag to take Taehyung. He was excited. Maybe this is the problem. Maybe it was the hospital that made him depressed. Once he would go home and the environment would change,his Taehyung would be back....right?

"Do...do you want to eat something before we go home? just the two of us?" Jeongguk asked,a bit hesitant.

Taehyung didn't even look at him as they walked side by side through the hospital hallways to the exit. His eyes were stuck straight ahead.

"No need,I just want to go home" Taehyung answers. Jeongguk blinked and then nodded. They were soon out of the hospital and now walking into the parking lot. It was nice to see sunlight.

"Ok let's go home then,My car is this way" Jeongguk pointed to the left when he saw Taehyung walking towards the right.

He stopped in his steps and walked closer to Jeongguk. "Oh,No, I asked one of my men to come pick me up instead,Sorry Jeongguk. I didn't know you brought your car" He said and Jeongguk felt another stab into his heart..

"Fine,I'll just come to your place in my car-" He was immediately cut off by Taehyung who looked...annoyed. He can't believe he is seeing this.

"-Jeongguk please. I just want to be alone. Just go home. We will meet some other time,OK?" He patted Jeongguk's shoulder,gave him a small smile and turned around to walk away.

The younger couldn't believe what just happened,nor did he just push him away. He 'Patted' his shoulder,giving him those pity smiles like they are acquaintances and not lovers. He could feel his eyes getting wet,the tears were forming into his eyes.

He ran towards Taehyung who was calmly walking and grabbed him by arm,Pulling Taehyung around. Making him face him completely. The older man had a puzzled look on his face but it softened into a more worried look when he saw the distressed expression on Jeongguk's face.

"Why are you doing this? Why are you ignoring me? Do you seriously have to make me go through this every time?? do we really have to fight about this every single time?? Answer me Kim Taehyung" Jeongguk said his full name,Just seconds away from bursting into tears. His voice was already quivering a bit.

"What are you talking about?"

"This Taehyung,you are ignoring me,being so cold with me. You are my boyfriend. I know you are not in your best health right now,neither mentally or physically but neither am I. I am not asking anything from you but just let me be a boyfriend to you too. So why are you being so distant and cold?? What did I even do to make you act like this towards me? I want to kiss you,I want to hug you,I want to be close to you,I want you to know that even though it's hard right now I am here for you and I want to know you are here for me too. I have gone through hell this past month, Taehyung, is it bad to ask for just a little affection from you? Is it bad to want my boyfriend to give me a little security that he is here for me like I am for him? Is it too much to ask for? " Jeongguk ended up crying as soon as he was done.

Bursting into tears and immensely hiding his face in his palms. He could feel his legs get weak and his heartbeat get faster. He was having a breakdown and he just wants to crawl into some hole because he is still in public and he doesn't want anyone else seeing him this vulnerable.

Feeling two arms wrapping around him out of nowhere. Talking him into his embrace. Jeongguk's face was now buried into Taehyung's neck as he cried all his emotions out.

"I'm sorry"

"Is that all you know how to say?? have you even said anything besides apologising to me all this time??" Jeongguk complained more,trying to move away but Taehyung's embrace was strong and he wasn't going to let him slip away just yet.

"No,I am sorry, let's just go home. Calm down,I am sorry I really am. Let's go" He grabbed Jeongguk's hand and dragged him towards his car which one of his men came with.

The man greeted his boss and opened the door for them as they both sat inside. Soon getting into the driving seat and driving away from the hospital. He pulled Jeongguk into his chest once again as Younger was having a hard time trying to pull himself together.

"Taehyung I-"

"Shh,Let's just talk at home. I'll answer all your questions.Let's just take this moment for us" Taehyung answered him and Jeongguk nodded,Wiping away his tears. Collecting himself.

He leaned more into Taehyung's chest and felt Taehyung's head on top of his. He smiled at their small moment. He can appreciate this,it gives me a small hope that they are going to talk and everything will be fine. He isn't mad at him,they will sort it out once they get home. Right.

The next 30 minutes are rather very peaceful. They don't exchange any words,Just very close to each other,staring at this intimate moment. Jeongguk felt even a bit sleepy because of how comfortable he was in Taehyung's arms. He wishes he could stay here forever.

That's unfortunately not possible. Reaching Taehyung's place eventually as both of them got out of the car and walked into the apartment building. Soon he was unlocking his place by putting In the passcode.

Jeongguk entered first and immediately sat down on his favourite couch in his TV lounge. He noticed no shoes in the entrance, which means Jimin isn't here.

"Doesn't Jimin know you got discharged?" He asked Taehyung who also sat down next to him.

"No one knows except the man who drove us here and you. He will know eventually when he comes home" Taehyung replied,starting with the small talk before they get to the heavy stuff. Jeongguk was impatient and he wanted answers immediately.

"Oh yeah...so can you explain your actions with me these past 2 weeks ever since you woke up?" Jeongguk asked him,Taehyung gulped and started to talk. Taking off his jacket on the couch to get comfortable.

"I know you are tired of me apologising but I still want to apologise once again but for being very cold towards you this time. It's because I thought it would help. I thought doing this would make it easier,creating a distance would help me out in a way" Taehyung was speaking but Jeongguk wasn't understanding shit he was being honest.

"What are you talking about?"

"I...Ever since I woke up,I can't shake off this feeling of guilt. I hear that fuckers screams in my nightmares,I haven't been able to sleep well. Thinking that he touched you without your consent and I wasn't there to kill him earlier makes me more mad at myself,I feel so angry I want to scream loudly and go feral,I will apologise to you my whole life for that if I have to-" Taehyung was cut off by Jeongguk because he didn't like where this was going.

"That wasn't your fault. What happened, happened Taehyung,there's nothing we can do about it anymore except moving on. I don't want to remember it or talk about it so can we not please. Either way I shouldn't have befriended a strange man in the first place. Only if I didn't befriend him this wouldn't have taken place"

"How are you going to tell me to not blame myself when you are doing the same,Jeongguk? You didn't know who he was. If you did so obviously you wouldn't have even talked to him" Taehyung responded,putting his hands on Jeongguk's hands and squeezing it to comfort him.

"I knew"

"What?"

"I mean,he told me he knew you. He knew who 'V' was. He told me about this the night where I introduced both of you. He texted me that night,then we got attacked in the parking lot. I should have put two and two together there and then" He replied and looked up to see Taehyung's expression and he just looked surprised.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?!" His tone was a bit too loud and He didn't like that.

"I was going at night but we got attacked and I forgot and when I woke up the next day you had gone to work and I had decided that this would be the last time I would meet him so I was going to close his chapter that day but then all that incident happened. I swear I would have told you earlier"

"Jeongguk...it's alright now. We can't undo what happened in the past. Let's just move on. He is...gone for good now we don't have to worry about him anymore. Though as I was saying before everything that happened with you had shaken me to the core and I know we have had these conversations thousands of times but I don't want to harm you any longer Jeongguk,being with me will only bring harm to you. Yes,I am strong but I can't be with you 24/7,neither can I control you or protect you all the time and i-" Taehyung paused for a second when he saw Jeongguk's hand shaking.

"Can you just get to the point?! I don't think I understand what you are trying to say" Jeongguk asked him,feeling his whole body just fall apart slowly.

"Let's break up" Taehyung said. He saw Jeongguk's whole world crashing down in his eyes. "What?" He asked in disbelief.

"Let's break up,Jeongguk. I can't bring harm to you any longer. I don't want you to see you covered in bruises because of me,I don't want you to experience this much trauma. In such a short amount of time all because of me. This life isn't made for you,Jeongguk. It's made for people like me who have no other choice. We were born for this so this doesn't affect us but Jeongguk,you have such a long life ahead of you. You are a normal person with actual dreams and goals that you can achieve. I will just hold you back or worse, put your life in danger to the point you can't be a normal person anymore" Taehyung said,making Jeongguk take his hand from Taehyung's grip and stand up.

"Who do you think you are to decide all that?!? huh?? y-you think you can just break up with me and I-I'll just listen to you. Taehyung I don't care. I am ready to give my life up if it means I can be with you. Y-You are the air that I breathe and without you everything feels so empty. If it means that I have to be in d-danger every single day of my life then be it,I already know how to use a gun I-I will just carry it with me all the time and-and-" He was cut off by Taehyung who grabbed him by arm and shook him slightly. He tried not to cry despite stumbling all over his words.

"Are you hearing yourself right now?? I won't let you do that. Jeongguk please,Don't do this to yourself. Stop torturing yourself for me. I am not worth it. There are alot more guys who can give you more than me,give you a life that would be suitable for you. Not a life where you have to worry if your partner is even Alive at the moment"

"Is that it? is that the real problem. Do you not love me anymore???"

"Don't say stupid shit,Jeongguk"

"You are the one who saying all this dumb shit. Will you even be able to handle that? Will you be able to see me in some other guy's arms?? me hugging and kissing and sharing intimate moments with someone who is not you?" Jeongguk moved closer to him,Their faces just inches apart. He saw Taehyung's eyes moving down to his lips and then immediately looking away.

"I will live with it" Taehyung answered with a stern tone.

"You are a fucking liar. I won't ever be able to see you with another person who is not me because I love you too much to see you in someone else's arms and I know you feel the same too. Your eyes tell me everything I need to know Taehyung" Jeongguk grabbed him by his waist and pulled their bodies closer. Now pressing against each other.

"Jeongguk..." Taehyung whispered,His head held down. He was in such close proximity with Jeongguk.

He saw a tear slide down Taehyung's eyes. Jeongguk kissed his tears away,Placing soft kisses on his cheeks and then his eyelids. "Please don't give up on us like this"

"Jeongguk,we can't. I can't let you be in danger anymore because of me. I love you I really do,I wanted to create a distance between us so breaking up won't hurt this much but it hurts so fucking much but I have to do this. I can't let myself put you in danger anymore"

"Are you serious right now? please tell me this is all a sick joke Taehyung. Don't do this to me,don't do this to us. You said why am I torturing myself by being with you when it's you who is torturing yourself by pushing Me away." Jeongguk grabbed his chin and made him face him. He saw how Taehyung was trying not to cry despite his eyes being welled up with tears.

"I am sorry. We are not good for each other,We can never be. Just loving each other is not enough,there are so many other factors we have to look at so please Guk-ah,don't make me do this the harsh way. Let's break up, it's the best for both of us" Taehyung was still at where he started.

The younger one couldn't believe this was his Taehyung. The same Taehyung who told him he would love him forever and never leave his side. They are back at square one. Jeongguk took his arms off Older's waist,taking a step back away from Taehyung.

"So this is it then. You have decided what's best for us and didn't even bother letting me change your mind,giving us a chance. I see how it is,Taehyung. Fucking fine then. Let's break up but only if I don't have to ever see your face again. Make sure of that because the next time I see you I can't promise you that I will stay away. I loved you Taehyung,I really did" Jeongguk grabbed his jacket from the couch,Staring at the older man who still had his head held down.

"Leave,Please" Taehyung mumbled. Jeongguk never wanted to cry harder.

He walked towards him and grabbed him by his face. Pulling him into one last kiss. Taehyung cried through the kiss,their lips moving for a second as they tasted each other one last time. This soft feeling of his lips,holding the prettiest boy in his arms,Jeongguk doesn't know how he would live without this feeling.

Pulling away from the kiss immediately, Leaving Taehyung hanging and walking towards the door.

"Goodbye,Taehyung. I hope we don't ever meet again" With that he opened the door and walked out of Taehyung's place. Stepping his foot out of this place and never coming back ever again.

Trying to hide his sad face as tears kept falling down his cheeks, the further away he walked down the hallway. His heartbeat increased as the huge wave of depression was hitting him like a truck

Some people will only be in your life for a brief time, much like a chapter in a book. In the end some people are meant to fall in love but not be together.

If I was mean I would have ended the book right here. I mean I always wanted to write a book with sad ending but I feel like this Taehyung and Jeongguk deserve better than that so just be patient. Though not alot of chapters are left in this book. Maybe 5? not sure but yes definitely not more than 7.
