Morning Drama
Normal POV
Sophie yawned as she sat up in the bed and stretched her arms over her head. She stopped short when she saw someone standing in her room, facing the window on the wall. Sophie had left it closed last night, a helping factor to the smoke incident. She thought it was Hort but the white hair and alabaster skin just didn't click. Suddenly she recognized him but she must be imagining things. "I was waiting for you to wake up," he said much to her surprise. "Who are you?," she sneered. The man chuckled as he turned around, his ice blue eyes boring into hers. "Why sweetheart? Have you moved on so fast? Do you not remember me?," Rafal asked mockingly in his smooth voice. Sophie's eyes widened as she scrambled to press her back against the headboard away from him. She clutched her head in her hands, jamming her eyes shut. "No! He's not here! He's gone! You're imagining things! He's gone! He's gone!!! He's.....gone," Sophie mumbled to herself as her voice raised to a scream until it came back down into a whisper as she trailed off.
"If you're so sad I was gone why did you make me leave then?," Rafal asked menacingly. "I don't need to explain myself to you," Sophie mumbled, hugging her knees to her chest. "Why Sophie?!," he pushed. Sophie went silent as he threw his head to the side. She saw a tear roll down his porcelain cheek as she heard him sniffle. "I thought you loved me. I thought we were going to be together but we're not and I don't know why. I know I'm evil but I was never evil to you.....so why were you the one who hurt me?!," he screamed. "Because you were being an idiot! That's why! You wanna know why I think so?! Here's why! Have you not realized that that bloodthirst you had was the key to your downfall?! You were naive to think I would choose you over the world!Sure if you did care about me I would! But you don't do you?! You don't care about anyone! I left you because you were being selfish!," Sophie screamed back, silencing him. Rafal's eyes widened as more tears dribbled down his cheeks. "You thought I didn't care about you?," he asked. Sophie nodded into her knees, sniffling. Rafal crawled into the bed and sat in front of her. He hooked his thumb under her chin as he lifted up her face. "I did care about you, hell I loved you. Evil's way," he said with a smile as Sophie stopped sniffing. Her slightly puffy and red eyes looked up at him before she launched unto him. Even though she felt like she weighted nothing the gesture had surprised him, making him fall onto his back. When he realized what was happening he curled his arms around her, pulling her close. "I missed you," Sophie mumbled against his shoulder. Rafal sighed in content as he ran his fingers through Sophie's blonde hair.
Rafal stared at the ceiling before kissing Sophie's cheek. "Did you really miss me?," Rafal asked against her cheek. Sophie chuckled before replying," of course I did." Rafal sat up and leaned against the headboard, Sophie in his lap. "Sophie," he mumbled softly. She pulled away from his shoulder to face him. She stared into his electrifying blue eyes, searching them. Rafal closed his eyes slowly before pressing his lips against hers. Sophie responded immediately by kissing him back. Rafal's hand went to her waist as the other cupped her cheek. Sophie pressed her palms against his neck, her thumb lightly brushing his jaw.
A shudder went down her spine from the feeling of his cold lips on hers. She missed this, she missed him. Rafal pulled away reluctantly, smiling at her. Sophie giggled before snuggling into his chest again. "Dork," he heard her mutter with a string of snickering. Rafal smirked , looking down at her. "So I'm the dork?," he asked. "No, you're my dork," she said emphasizing the word my. Rafal chuckled as he kissed her nose. "And you're my witch. No one else's. Mine," Rafal replied in a teasing voice. "Yours and no one else's," Sophie smiled.
Rafal nuzzled her neck and sighed as the scent of rosemaries and pansies filled his nose. He wondered how she got herself to smell so minty. "Why do you smell like rosemaries?," Rafal mumbled against her pulse point. Sophie giggled making him smile. "I don't know. I don't use anything that smell like rosemaries. What else do I smell like to you?," she replied. "Pansies and mint and a hint of black orchids. So fresh," he replied to her question. Sophie frowned at black orchids. Rafal looked up at her and scowled. "What's wrong with black orchids?," he asked. "That's Hort's disgusting cologne," Sophie snarled.
Rafal's eyes widened at the mention of Hort. He certainly remembers the boy's attraction to his Sophie. "Um is anything going on in between you and Hort?," he asked awkwardly. Sophie's eyes widened until they looked similar to Agatha's. "God no! Never! I told him that but he just doesn't quit," Sophie sputtered. Rafal sighed in relief but the feeling was short lived. A knock resonated around the room and he could've sworn he saw Sophie flinch. "Sophie you good? You missed you're classes," Hort's voice sounded from behind the door. Sophie sighed before crawling out of Rafal's lap. At least she tried to. Rafal held onto her and clicked his tongue.
"Make him wait," he said, smirking. Sophie raised a brow at his statement. His smirk got wider. "Before last night I was a dead man. Now that I'm back and I'm still evil so let a man have his fun?," Rafal replied to her silent question. Sophie felt her heart clench at the words 'I'm back and I'm still evil' but decided to push the feeling down. He was in a playful mood might as well. "What do you propose we do then?," Sophie asked with a smirk of her own. "An old trick I used to do all the time," he replied. Sophie got of his lap but he pulled her back into his flank. "Shush," he said. He looked around the room and reached for a jug of water on her bedside table. Sophie watched as his fingertip glowed a sharp black and the water in it turned thick red. "Fake blood," he said. He got up while carrying Sophie with one arm. She briefly wondered how strong he really was if he could lift her with on one arm. She looked down an noticed that he was in the clothes he died in.
She'll have to remind him to change. Rafal bent down and poured the liquid under the closed doorway. Sophie circled her arms around his neck to keep her balance. She could hear a gasp from the other side of the door. Sophie giggled as the white haired boy holding her sniggered. Hort began banging on the door and screaming bloody murder. "Sophie?! What have you done?! Sophie!!!," Hort shouted through the door. They couldn't hold back their laughter anymore. Rafal crept under her bed as she opened the door still laughing. "You should've seen your face Hort," she snickered referring to Hort's horror struck face. He threw his arms around her as Sophie wriggled. "Kay enough now. Too close," she snapped. Hort jumped back and stared at her. Sophie's head turned to the sound of heels against the stone floor. She turned to face the person and was met by bored brown eyes, a plump lipped scowl and the sight of the Jalett's square jawline.
"Kay done know? I need to talk to Sophie," Jalett drawled in her baritone voice. Hort walked away but glared at the back of Jalett's head. She laughed coldly before turning to face him. She wore slightly puckered lips, eyes glinting in amusement and the slightest upturn of the corner of her lip. "Aww is Hort upset that he won't be able to spend time with his Sophie? We'll have to talk about that honey. Buutt that is a talk for another time. Go on now," she teased. Hort walked away fuming while Sophie smiled. When Jalett turned back to Sophie she shoved her in her room and walked in after her. Sophie rubbed her shoulder with a grimace. "Ouch," she said sarcastically. Jalett just rolled her eyes and sat on Sophie's work desk.
"You can come out now Rafal!," she snapped and Sophie heard a thud. Rafal crawled out as he moaned in pain, it was clear that he had hit his head on the bed. He rubbed the back of his head as Sophie gasped and ran to him. She blubbered out questions as Rafal struggled to answer them. "Enough!," Jalett half-screamed. The couple turned to her and stared at her in shock. "Why did you come ? And how did you know Rafal was back?," Sophie asked slowly. "This is why I'm here," Jalett said slowly as she pulled out a book from her satchel, Sophie hadn't even noticed she had that. She handed it to Rafal and his eyes widened as he read the white cover. "The tales of the forgotten loves ?! What is this?!," Rafal asked. "It's your bloody storybook. You're lucky my brother was out on his stupid meet and greet when the Storian started to write that," Jalett explained.
Rafal looked down at Sophie before looking back at the book. "We have another storybook," he mumbled. "About us specifically," Sophie added. Jalett raised a brow before sighing. "I'm outta here. There's better things to do," she mumbled. "Na ah ah ah. Who are you?," Rafal asked, groping her arm. "I'm Jalett the new evil schoolmaster," she mumbled, her eyes lids drooping. "Wait wait wait. New?! I'm not the schoolmaster anymore?!," Rafal sputtered. "Yes, great Sophie I thought for a guy who planned everything ahead and was able to hear Agatha in a vent about 9 feet above him I thought he would be smarter," Jalett said with a sigh. "Relax your powers is still yours ya big icepop," she drawled.
Rafal glared at her but she just shrugged. "Meh, you don't scare me," she said as she walked backwards towards the window. "Oh and Sophie I wouldn't let people see him if I were you," Jalett drawled before falling backwards out of the window. Sophie peered over the edge and suddenly came face to face with a smirking Jalett. "Worried?," she asked. She was walking vertically up the tower. "Cheers," she said and flew away, jumping from wall to wall.
Sophie turned back to Rafal and gasped. He was sweating, in winter. He stumbled backwards and fell onto the bed. Sophie ran to him and hovered over him. He was panting and his eyes were drooping. She placed a hand on his forehead and retracted it with a hiss of pain. "You-you have a temperature and not just a temperature. You-you're burning up like really burning up," Sophie blubbered. "Stop yelling at me," Rafal groaned. "I'm not yel-," Sophie started. "Please just stop yelling love," Rafal sighed.
"Rafal, I'm not yelling," Sophie whispered. "Now isn't that better," Rafal muttered as he sat up. His hand immediately flew to his forehead as he winced. "Oh no. You're sick," Sophie mumbled. "I haven't been sick ever since I became the schoolmaster. I'm fine," he insisted dumbly. Sophie sighed and pushed him back down by the shoulders. Sophie ran into her groom room and fetched a bucket of warm water and a cloth. She left the tap running in the tub for later.
She pulled up a chair next to the bed and began dabbing Rafal's forehead with it. He sighed in content and smiled. It looked so sweet and childish to Sophie that it made her giggle and smile to. Rafal looked at her, his smile still plastered on. "What's so funny love?," he asked. "Your smile is cute. It makes me want to smile to," Sophie said with a sigh. "Oh no. What have I become? One death and now I'm the bringer of joy and smiles," he said over dramatically. "Well not a lot of things can make me smile anymore love so that isn't necessarily true," Sophie said.
"Glad I can still make you smile," he sighed. "I'll be alright Sophie," he said, squeezing her knee. "I know you will you've fought death more than once," Sophie said with a giggle. "For you," Rafal added. "For me," Sophie replied and gave him a lasting kiss on his lips. "I love you Sophie," he murmured. "I love you to sweetheart," she replied as his eyes closed in exhaustion.
