18 - Kiss from a Rose

Charlie was in her bathroom, applying more makeup than usual while Raven and Jimin rummaged through her closet to find the perfect outfit for Blade, or Axel Clearwater. She could hear the two bickering back and forth about what outfit would give Charlie the right amount of attention without screaming desperation. Once Charlie applied the last layer of mascara she walked to her room to find clothes scattered about, eyes widening momentarily before she glared up at both Jimin and Raven.

"Geez you two! You better be cleaning all this up!" Charlie scolded, trying her best not to step on any of the items scattered on her floor.

"Jimin doesn't like anything I pick out for you," Raven said as she crossed her arms and gave the younger man a pointed look.

"What? This assignment is dangerous," Jimin argued, avoiding Raven's gaze.

"That's why you are going as well. If anything happens, you're right there Jimin," Charlie reminded him as she tried her best to reassure him.

Yoongi made it clear to Charlie and the rest of the members that he had no idea what Ganghan was up to and that things seemed to be changing too fast, which made him uncomfortable and even nervous. He needed to make sure that his family stayed safe during all of this, taking all the necessary precautions in order to do so.

Charlie appreciated the transparency, so when he stated that Jimin would join her on this mission, she didn't object. Jungkook even pulled her aside at one point after their meeting, reminding her that if she didn't feel right, they would be just a couple blocks away. Charlie was happy that despite whatever was going on between the two of them, he was still there for her.

Jimin had decided on wearing a pair of black leather pants with a black, silk button-up shirt that was sheer on the back. Charlie could see he was holding something red in his hands as he lifted it up and gave it to Raven.

"Fine, she's wearing this then," he grumbled as Raven smiled, taking the fabric and tossing it on the bed.

Charlie walked over and picked up the red fabric, holding it up to reveal a lacy bodysuit. Her eyes went wide as she turned back to the other two.

"These over top," Raven ordered, handing her some black jeans that had small rips throughout the fabric. "Oh! And these." Raven held up a pair of strappy black heels as well. Charlie had worn them before and was able to walk in them without breaking an ankle.

"I'm going to go finalize some things with the rest of the team, meet you downstairs in fifteen," Jimin said as he walked out of her room, closing the door behind him.

Charlie turned her back towards Raven and started to change into her outfit for the evening.

"You feeling ok?" Raven asked as she sat down on the edge of Charlie's bed.

"Why does everyone keep asking me that?" Charlie said as she slipped on the bodysuit.

"Because we are worried about you darling." Raven's voice was soft as she stared down at her hands, hoping that everything was going to go smoothly this evening.

"Well stop worrying about me." Charlie turned around and grabbed the black pants. "It's the girls that Ganghan are buying and selling that you should be worried about. I am free, they're not," she replied. Raven nodded her head and couldn't argue with Charlie's words.

"How do I look?" Charlie stood in front of Raven, awaiting her comment. Raven slowly stood up and walked towards her.

"Deadly," she said with a smirk and pulled her into a hug. "Make sure to take care of yourself. Be careful, okay?" she insisted while Charlie nodded in response, squeezing Raven just a bit before pulling away.

The two ladies walked down the stairs to join the rest of the group, who were already seated on the couches as they waited for their last member to arrive so they could review the details of tonight's mission.

"Alright, let's go over it one more time," Yoongi started as all eyes were on him. "Blade and Breaker will be in Ganghan territory, so we all need to be on high alert. Circuit, Spider and myself will be here, monitoring everything. Hotshot, Ember, and Chemist will be just a couple blocks away if back-up is needed." Yoongi looked directly at Charlie and continued. "We need as much information from Axel as you can get: how he came to be the owner, his colleagues, anything about Jamie or any other girls he might have." Charlie nodded in understanding before Yoongi turned to Jimin. "Keep an eye out for anyone else who may be of interest in the club." Jimin nodded as well and Yoongi then stood up. "Show time."

~☾~

Charlie was walking towards the club, trying to calm her breathing. Jimin had left the van about 10 minutes prior so as to keep up the illusion that they were not together. She quickly adjusted her top as she approached the bouncer, who eagerly let her in.

Memories of the first time she came here with Jungkook started to flood back. She looked over at the bar and couldn't help but picture herself leaning against it as Jin intercepted her target for that night. She shivered at the thought of what would have happened if Jin hadn't been there. So much had changed since then.

As she walked to the bar, Charlie glanced around, quickly getting a layout of the place. Her eye caught Jimin, talking with a woman as they sat on the couch. Her hand was placed on his knee as she smiled at him, trying too hard to keep his attention on her. His eyes met Charlie's and he nodded towards her while she gave him a small smile. She took a deep breath before heading over towards the bar, hoping to shake off the nerves. When Charlie reached the bar, she ordered a cosmopolitan, her drink of choice when on her usual assignments.

Charlie turned to face the rest of the club, resting her back on the bar as she surveyed the area. Axel's meeting was supposed to be happening right now, but no one knew exactly where it would happen. Behind closed doors? Tucked away in one of the booths? As she was trying to find the profile that matched the pictures she was shown of Axel, another man approached her and Charlie tried her best to sit up straight and play her part.

"Evening beautiful," he said as he leaned against the bar as well, chest almost touching her arm.

Charlie gave him her classic charming smile and turned towards him slightly.

"Hello handsome," she replied, a flirty tone to her voice. She took a sip of her drink as she looked him up and down.

"Never seen you here before," he said, leaning in close so she could hear him over the blaring music. Charlie rested her hand on his to keep him close by, but also to keep him at a certain distance.

"I'm new and just looking for some fun in this boring ass town," Charlie replied before she pulled away, giving him a quick wink. Charlie liked to tease the other men that would often approach her while she waited for her targets.

"Target located," Charlie heard Jimin say in her earpiece. She carefully looked around so as not to raise suspicion from the man standing next to her. She could hear his words, but her focus was on the other man she had located walking in her direction from a hallway across the room. Their eyes met briefly and Charlie gave him a quick wink hoping to catch his attention. He didn't even spare her a second glance as he walked over to a couch in the corner of the club, a couple other guys joining him not long after.

"So, would you want to go have some fun?" Charlie heard the man next to her say. She faced him again and smiled.

"Sure, let me freshen up and I'll meet you at the hotel around the corner?" she suggested, lightly grazing his arm. He smirked before nodding, eagerly walking out of the club. Finally. Charlie watched as he left before her eyes moved to Axel.

"Going in," she said quietly, but still loud enough for the earpiece to pick it up. She took another sip of her drink and then set the glass down on the bar before standing up, confidently striding over towards the couch in the back corner. As she approached, the men surrounding Axel looked up at her, their eyes following the curves of her body as she swayed her hips with every step. Axel was the last to look up and Charlie was surprised to find that he didn't seem that interested in her.

"Evening gentlemen," Charlie greeted, but her eyes remained glued to Axel. She wanted him to know that she was only interested in him.

"Well hello gorgeous," Axel said as he leaned back on the couch. Charlie watched as his eyes moved from hers and to her arm, taking in the viney tattoo before he smiled. "That's some unique ink you got there," he commented.

"Thank you." Charlie brushed her fingers along her own skin delicately while maintaining eye contact with him.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" Axel asked with a smirk.

"Maybe. I'm new to town and was hoping I could make some friends." Charlie sat down next to him as she brushed her hair back, exposing her bare shoulder. Axel chuckled and leaned towards her.

"Then perhaps we should get to know each other," he replied. Axel stood up and offered a hand to Charlie, which she took, offering him a playful smile. He led her away from the craziness of the club and down the hallway she had previously watched him appear from. Charlie caught Jimin's eye just before she disappeared.

"Target acquired," Jimin said through his earpiece as he stood up and walked over to the bar. He had a better view of the hallway as well as the entirety of the club from here.

Axel led Charlie to the end of the hallway and opened a door for her, gesturing for her to enter. Once inside, he closed the door and sat down on one of the leather couches in the room. Charlie looked around and was a bit confused as to why he had brought her into what appeared to be an office. When she turned back to him, she noticed that he was on his phone, smiling. When he saw that he had her attention again, he put his phone in his pocket and grinned at her, patting the spot next to him on the couch. Charlie sat down and leaned forward a little, exposing her chest a bit.

"So, is this your office?" Charlie asked in a seductive tone.

"It is," he replied as his hand reached up to brush her hair away from her shoulder.

"You own this club?" Charlie needed information, and that fact that he had brought her to his office suggested that he loved to show off.

"I do." His fingers traveled to her shoulder and down her arm.

"You're a man of few words," Charlie said and he hummed in response.

"Have you ever been to the club across town?" he asked and Charlie leaned back a little, confused. "I think it's called Cliff Hangers." Charlie tried to hide her surprise as she shook her head. "Well, a buddy of mine recently visited there and was telling me about this new girl that's always hanging around the place."

Charlie's heart started to race a little, not fully understanding what was going on. "It was weird though, because she wasn't a dancer." His fingers moved to the ink that wrapped around her arm, following the lines. "A beautiful woman with vines wrapped her arm." His eyes met hers and the cold expression gave her chills.

"Blade, get out!" Yoongi's voice was heard through her earpiece, but Charlie stayed still. The anger started to build inside of her as she remembered everything she had been told about this man. He was the enemy and he knew where Jamie was! She reached up to land a punch to his face, but he was quick to grab her wrist.

"Bangtan scum!" he yelled. Charlie twisted out of his grip and landed a punch to his ribs. She stood up and Axel was quick to his feet as well. As she brought her leg up in a spin kick, he grabbed her ankle and threw her to the ground. Charlie knew she could fight better than this, but when she landed on the ground, her back hit the arm of a chair and the wind was knocked from her.

"I contacted the police 5 minutes ago. You and your friend aren't getting out of here so easily," Axel said with a chuckle as he fixed his shirt, a malicious smirk on his lips. He walked towards the door and left the room, leaving Charlie curled up on the floor, trying to catch her breath.

"Shit, police are inbound," Taehyung frantically said as Charlie pushed herself up from the floor.

"You good?" Jimin stood in the doorway, panting as he looked over to his partner. She simply nodded in response before pulling herself up, brushing off her pants.

"Circuit, find us a way out," Charlie said as she reached Jimin, looking down the hall. Flashes of red and blue danced across the walls and she knew that they were not going to be able to just walk out of here. Anyone seen running away would surely look suspicious.

"They have you guys surrounded," Taehyung informed and both Charlie and Jimin could hear the nervousness in his voice. "I'm sending back up."

"No, don't. We can't risk anyone else getting caught." Charlie grabbed Jimin's arm and walked out into the hallway, pressing him against the wall and quickly fiddling with the buttons on his shirt, trying so hard to undo them.

"What are you doing?" he asked as he grabbed her wrists, stopping her. Charlie pulled away from his grasp and ran her fingers through her hair, ruffling it up.

"Improvising," she replied. Jimin looked around and finally realized what was going through his partner's head. They needed to blend in.

"Fuck, ok." Jimin grabbed Charlie's waist and pulled her closer, biting his lip. "You sure?" he questioned, still hesitant to go through with this.

"We don't have a choice Jimin," she rushed out before the sound of officers shouting could be heard nearby. She knew that any minute now, an officer could round that corner and head in their direction.

Fear took over as Charlie pressed her lips against Jimin's, trying to make their makeout look as heated and real as possible. Thankfully, Jimin responded, but she could feel his apprehension as his hands hovered over her body. Charlie didn't know if he felt like he couldn't touch her or if something else was going through his mind, but they didn't have much time. They both needed to put in their all if they were going to get out of this. Charlie pulled away and gave him a smirk.

"Is that all you got?" she said in a teasing manner, causing Jimin to bite his lip and sigh. He was nervous, and he didn't know if it was the fact that they could get caught or if he just didn't feel comfortable touching Charlie like this. However, her teasing him was the permission he needed to wrap his hands around her thighs, picking her up and pushing her against the wall, his arms on either side of her frame as he attempted to hide as much of her tattoo as he could just in case.

They both heard someone shouting at them, but ignored it, trying to stay focused on playing their part. Jimin kissed Charlie's neck as her hands tangled with his hair, her legs held tight to his waist.

Jimin finally pulled away when someone placed their hand on his shoulder and forced him to step away from Charlie. She started giggling and stumbled a little as Jimin joined her in laughing, helping her to stand as he pulled her into his side, her arm immediately latching onto his waist.

"Save it for the bedroom you two," the officer grumbled, clearly annoyed. "Get out of here." The officer stepped aside and Charlie and Jimin stumbled down the hallway, clinging to each other while slightly laughing.

Once they made it outside, they continued to play their part until they turned down the street to where the van was. Both Jimin and Charlie let out a loud sigh when they realized they made it out.

"Holy shit!" Jimin said and Charlie started to laugh again.

"That was close," she responded, a faint smile still on her lips as she let out another relieved sigh.

"Quick thinking on your part by the way," he said. They continued walking towards their van, which was parked about a block away.

"Yeah, sorry about that," Charlie said, mentally cringing about the whole thing.

"No worries, it's all a part of the job. Besides, it worked, so no need to be sorry." He reached around and put an arm on her shoulder, pulling her close as they continued to head towards the van.

Sure, they may have just made out and gotten closer than they ever had before, but that didn't change anything between the two. Jimin and Charlie had always been pretty close with a mutual understanding of respect for each other, and the situation didn't change that or make it too awkward between them. They were friends, and that's all they were ever going to be.

When they reached the van and opened the door, they were met with wide eyes and confused faces.

"What?" Charlie asked as she climbed into the van.

"You both look like a mess," Hoseok observed, grinning at them as he playfully wiggled his eyebrows at them. At this point, everyone had heard their little make-out session and both of them knew they were going to get teased a lot for this. Charlie simply rolled her eyes, ignoring the comment before settling into her seat as Jimin sat next to her.

When they reached the house, everyone tumbled out and silently walked inside, meeting the rest of the team in the living room. The pissed off look on Yoongi's face was hard to ignore and before anyone could ask, he erupted.

"So do you want to explain to me what the fuck that was between the two of you?! In our world, especially among members, there's no room for catching feelings. It just complicates things, and in our line of business, there's no time for this love shit." Everyone froze at his words and then turned to Charlie and Jimin, who were busy looking at each other and then back to their leader.

"What the fuck, it wasn't even like that," Jimin argued, making a disgusted face while Charlie was trying really hard not to burst out laughing

"We were improvising," she said and thankfully the hardened expression on Yoongi's face softened. "And it worked didn't it?" Yoongi hesitated before slowly nodding his head in agreement, letting out a defeated sigh before deciding to change the subject.

"Let's just go over this shit and call it a night, we can reconvene tomorrow to come up with another plan. So, we didn't get what we needed and it seems like he has guys that have visited Cliff Hangers," Yoongi recalled, gesturing for the others to take a seat. Everyone started to move towards the couches to get comfortable as Yoongi continued. "Jimin, we need to let the girls know." Jimin nodded, already knowing that he would visit them tomorrow. "Thankfully, Taehyung was able to get access to their security cameras and Axel's schedule so... we strike tomorrow night. I want that fucker in our bunker so I can talk to him man to man."

Everyone shifted a little as this mission turned from gaining information to kidnapping their target. Yoongi finally turned towards Charlie.

"You're going to have to start covering up your tattoos now." Charlie nodded, feeling terrible at how recognizable she was with the distinct ink on her arm. "Get some rest. I will go over the details tomorrow once we come up with a solid plan." He stood up and walked upstairs while everyone else slowly followed suit.

Jungkook had wanted to talk to Charlie all day, but didn't know the right words to say to her. While no one really saw what happened between Jimin and Charlie, they could clearly hear it through their earpieces... and he hated every second of it. They both said it was just work, but Charlie was quick to act... maybe a little too quick. Jungkook decided to just talk to her and walked upstairs after her, knocking on her door before opening it when he heard her voice.

Charlie was sitting on her bed, trying to take off her heels, but the buckle was stuck and she was getting frustrated. Jungkook chuckled and walked over, kneeling on the ground and helping her take her shoes off.

"Thanks," she mumbled as she sat up, watching Jungkook unbuckle her heels and pull them off, tossing them by her closet. "Sweet relief," Charlie said as she let her body fall onto the bed.

"Well, that was a fun mission," Jungkook said sarcastically as he sat down next to Charlie. She pushed herself up and crossed her legs, facing him.

"It was weird, that's for sure. But hey, we're back home," she said. Charlie forced a smile, feeling weird talking about this with Jungkook for some reason.

"So... you and Jimin?" Jungkook asked as he slowly looked at Charlie. She immediately scrunched up her entire face.

"Eww, hell no!" she replied. Jungkook started laughing and Charlie joined in as well, acting as if nothing was strange between the two of them. The laughter subsided and the two friends sat in silence.

"Hey, you doing ok?" Charlie finally asked. Jungkook nodded his head.

"You?" he asked, earning a nod in response from Charlie as well.

"I just really want to find Jamie," Charlie uttered with her head down. Jungkook placed a hand on her knee.

"So do I, and so does everyone else here. We will find her and help all the other women that Ganghan potentially has." Charlie met Jungkook's eyes and smiled. She moved closer to him and wrapped her arms around his waist.

"You always know the right words to say Kook," she whispered. Jungkook smiled and held her close, hoping that she couldn't hear his heartbeat going crazy.

Thank you for waiting the last update so here is the next one a little early! Kidnapping now? Yoongi wants to talk? How do you think it's going to go?
