You try to tear me down

And keep me bound,

But like the sun in the summer I rise

You try to spread rumors about what you think I do,

And who I do

Slander my name,

Make me go insane

And feel your pain,

But still I rise

You say your my friend but when I turn my back you start whis-per-in,

Saying I did this,

And saying I did that,

Talking me down so you can be the cool cat

But trust me you ain't that,

And they say if you sleep with the dogs you get fleas!

So please believe I won't stoop to your level,

Cause I know I will rise

No need to compromise, no need to become what I despise , a hater in disguise,

Your words will not be my demise

It may sting,

But still I rise

Does my smile upset you,

Because with all I been through I rise

You should be happy that I rise,

Not mad that my heads not bowed in defeat, but head high in the sky,

Because whatever is thrown at me still I rise
