8- He Fell
It was warm in the GP. Andy looked around the room before taking off her cardigan. Nathan took it off her hands and folded it onto his lap. She placed her head back onto his shoulder and sighed, breathing in his scent. He had always smelt the same.
Nathan stuck a hand out and placed it on her knee. She stopped shaking her leg and mumbled an apology. "Listen to me, whatever happens now doesn't matter because at the end of the day, we are still gonna start a family together. It may not be the way we imagined but we'll get there, I promise."
He kissed the top of her head just as her name bleeped onto the screen. Her eyes scanned over the bold red letters before standing up. Silently, they both walked down the hall. It was Nathan that knocked.
"Hey Andy, how you doing?" the doctor welcomed. She pointed to the seats, offering them the old worn leather chairs.
"Hey Dr Lebon." The doctor smiled at her.
"So let's get straight to it." She pushed her hair off her shoulders. "I had a look at your blood and the scans."
This is it, she thought. This is the moment they tell me I can't have children.
Nathan brought their joint hands to his lap, giving her hand a soft squeeze. "Your testosterone levels are quite high, like we have already discussed. However," the doctor said looking up them, "having a baby is still highly likely. It won't be easy, but you can get there."
Andy released a breath she didn't realise she had been holding. But now she felt her lungs begging for air and she breathed heavily to calm down the burning in her chest. "Okay...oh god, that's so good to hear."
"I'm sorry to be a joy kill, but would there be any complications?"
"Right, I was getting into that." Nathan kissed the top of her head with a smile. He lifted a hand to her cheek. She nodded her head to let him she was alright.
"So the last time you were pregnant, you did miscarry. But the only thing right now is that when you are pregnant, the first trimester is gonna be hard. Once you get through that stage, with our help, the major worries and complications shall be over."
Andy looked up at Nathan who had a small smile on his face. "So we can start a family? She could still get pregnant?"
"Very much so. I would have advised you to try and get pregnant around ovulation but with irregular periods, such as your own, it can be very hard to do. So my theory is just keep at it and hope for the best."
"I won't mind that," Nathan said with a smirk. Andy smacked his chest as a blush settled on her cheeks.
"So that's it, Andy, you're free to go. If you have any questions then you have my number and email. I hope the next time I see you is when there is a little one in your stomach."
"I hope so too," she whispered as she looked down at we stomach.

"She's such a bitch! I mean why on earth would she do that to me?"
Nathan raised his eyebrows as he lifted the cup of coffee to his lips. Jessica and Andy were in front of him, deep into their conversation. Jessica had almost recovered; her broken leg was going to take a few months to heal but other than that, she was cleared.
"No I see your point. She's your sister and she had no right," Andy agreed with her. She lifted the lid off the pan before closing it again. "Give me a sec, Jess, let me take this out."
Jessica remained silent as Andy turned the cooker off. Nathan stood up and walked behind her. "I got it, pumpkin. Put it in the large serving try to cool down?" She nodded her head.
"I mean, who the fuck does that?" Jessica had begun again. She drank the rest of her glass of vodka and poured another.
"Pumpkin, when are the others coming?"
"In an hour. Pie should be done then. Can you start making dessert for me please? The trifle yeah?" He smiled before kissing her cheek.
"Got it. Go and talk, I've got it covered." Jessica walked away, talking to herself. Andy stayed back, giving him a kiss.
"Sorry about inviting everyone. I know you just wanted some us time-" Nathan kissed her again.
"It's okay. It would be great to see them outside of work. Haven't done so in a while." He kissed the top of her head and smiled. "Go before she gets mad at you."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"Oh, Carr said he might come earlier, get his son with him before his mum takes him back." She kissed his cheek quickly before leaving.
Nathan hummed to himself as he poured out the filling into a large tray. He spread it out evenly before leaving it beside the fridge. He then took out the frozen berries and began making his jelly. As soon as the cake batter was in the oven, the doorbell rang.
"I got it!" he called out, hearing Andy start to get up.
"Thank you!"
True to Andy's word, Carr was at the door, his two year old son on his hip, already asleep. "Can you take him for a minute? I'm desperate for a piss." Carr quickly gave his son over before running down the hall and slamming the door shut.
Nathan walked into the living room with a smile on his face. "Can you get me the baby monitor please?" Andy got up and walked to the drawer, looked around for a few seconds before taking it out.
"The hell do you guys have that?"
"I look after my brother's kid a lot. With one being a new born, you kind of have to have one. But he's two now but still." He kissed Andy's cheek as he walked by. "Just gonna put him down and come back. I just put the cake in, the jelly is setting and jam is done."
"Thank you, Nathan."
"You know, Andy, there was one time where his food was inedible. But a few months into your relationship, he was decent." Carr walked back into the room and smiled. He took his son and pointed to the ceiling. "Feel sorry for that man. Has a one night stand and is stuck with a nightmare of a woman."
Andy followed Nathan to the kitchen. He crouched down to glance at the cake. When he got back up, he felt Andy wrap her arms around his waist, resting her head on his back.
"I love you," she whispered. With a laugh, he turned her around, leaning back onto the counter. He placed a hand on her cheek before leaning down to kiss her. "I just really want to sit and cuddle with you," she murmured against his lips.
"We still can." He pulled her gently to the sitting room and sat down on the sofa. He pulled her right beside him and wrapped his arms around her. "Comfortable?"
"Very," she replied with a smile.
"So what's cooking in that lovely oven of yours?" Carr asked as he came into the living room. He sat down on the single sofa, pulling up the leg rest. "So, we bitchin about your sister then, Jess?"
Jessica rolled her eyes. She knocked back the rest of her drink but didn't pour another. "How can she accuse me of trying to take her fiancé away? Let me tell you, Hunter is a really nice guy, down to earth, caring and nothing like that bitch. Him and I get along, not gonna deny it, but not once have we had a moment like that. And she has the audacity to point fingers at us and say we're screwing each other behind her back." She groaned before standing up. "I need something stronger." Carr quickly held a hand out, stopping her. He pulled her back and patted his lap.
"Sit down. We are meant to be here as guests and you're almost drunk." Jessica mumbled a sorry before sitting down on his lap. She buried her head into his neck, sighing. "Sleep it off, Jess. You sister is a bitch, you know that, I know that, dammit everyone who meets her knows. But as soon as she comes crying, saying how sorry she is, you'll forgive her as soon as."
"I know," she mumbled. "I love you, Carr, you know that right?"
Andy watched as Carr sadly smiled. He gently tucked her fringe behind her ear before leaning down to kiss her head. "I know," he whispered.
"Did you just see that?" Nathan whispered into Andy's ear. She nodded her head. "He's falling for her."
"No," Andy said whilst shaking her head. She watched as Carr looked down at Jessica, a ghost of a smile plying at his lips as his fingers played with the hair at the back of her neck. "He already fell."
Well would you look at that...there is more to come from Jessica and Carr so stay tuned. Hope you enjoyed it ☺️
