Chapter 4

Third person's pov

The room seemed to close in around them as Jungkook uttered the word "leukemia." Eunwoo's eyes widened in disbelief, and without a second thought, he pulled Jungkook into a tight embrace.

Jungkook, caught off guard, was frozen for a moment,

Eunwoo, trying to process the reality himself, stammered, "H-how can this happen? It can't be." The shock in his voice mirrored the disbelief etched across his face.

Jungkook, still in Eunwoo's embrace, mumbled incoherently, "It can't... it can't be true." His voice trembled,

Eunwoo, unable to find the right words, tightened his hold on Jungkook,

As reality set in, Jungkook's panic escalated. "Wh-hat wi-ill I do? Will I die, Eun-nwoo?" The fear in his voice was palpable, his eyes searching Eunwoo's for reassurance.

Eunwoo, cupping Jungkook's face in his hands, looked into his eyes with sincerity, "N-No, no, this won't happen."

Eunwoo's eyes welled up with tears. He hugged Jungkook more tightly, as if the strength of the embrace could somehow shield them from the harsh reality. "We'll f-find the best doctors, the best treatments. Nothing w-will happen to you." Eunwoo said, his own voice breaking.

Jungkook, allowed himself to lean into Eunwoo. "I d-don't wa-ant to le-eave Taehyu-ung and the kids," he whispered,

Eunwoo, choking back his own tears, said "Yo-ou won't have to." His fingers gently traced the contours of Jungkook's face,

Jungkook's breaths came in short, rapid gasps as the panic overtook him. Eunwoo, desperately trying to steady his friend, whispered soothing words, "Jungkook, slow down your breathing. I'm here with you."

Eunwoo's hands gently pressed against Jungkook's back, guiding him through deep breaths. "In... and out. Slowly, Kook. You're okay," he murmured, his own voice trembling with concern.

As Jungkook's breathing gradually normalized, Eunwoo kept his arm around him.

Eventually, Jungkook's exhaustion overwhelmed him, and he slumped against Eunwoo. Eunwoo shifted to cradle Jungkook's head in his lap. Jungkook, his eyes heavy with fatigue, succumbed to sleep.

Eunwoo, now alone with his thoughts and the sleeping Jungkook, couldn't contain his tears. They fell silently, tracing the contours of his cheeks. With a trembling hand, he gently stroked Jungkook's hair,

His voice, shaky and choked with emotion, whispered into the quiet room, "Jung-gkook, n-no-othi-ing w-will h-happen"

As the hours passed, Eunwoo remained by Jungkook's side, occasionally pausing to wipe away his own tears.

As the night deepened, Jungkook stirred awake, finding himself still nestled in Eunwoo's lap. Eunwoo, shifted his position to offer him a more comfortable space.

Jungkook sat up and Eunwoo immediately reached for a glass of water. "Here, drink slowly," Eunwoo said, handing him the glass. Jungkook took it and drank it.

Once Jungkook had finished the water, Eunwoo retrieved his phone,"The hospital sent a message," Eunwoo said gently, handing over the device. Jungkook took the phone, his gaze fixed on the screen as he read through the details – information about leukemia, the proposed treatment plan, and an upcoming appointment.

Jungkook absorbed the information silently, his brows furrowing with each passing sentence. After a moment, Jungkook lowered the phone and stared into the distance,

Eunwoo, breaking the silence, said softly, "You'll be staying with me for tomorrow, hmm?"

Jungkook, didn't immediately respond. Instead, he leaned into Eunwoo, seeking solace in the warmth of his friend's presence. Eunwoo, wrapped his arms around Jungkook, holding him closely.

The next day.......

Jungkook and Eunwoo made their way to the hospital for the scheduled appointment. The waiting room was a sea of faces, each carrying their own burdens,

Jungkook, his nerves palpable, fidgeted in his seat, his gaze flickering between the door and the clock.

After what felt like an eternity, the door swung open, and a nurse called Jungkook's name. He stood up, glancing at Eunwoo, who gave him an encouraging nod. The doctor's office felt both intimidating and comforting as Jungkook took a seat, his eyes fixated on the doctor.

The doctor with a warm demeanor, greeted them. "Good morning Jungkook. I understand this must be a challenging time for you," the doctor began,

Jungkook, managing a hesitant nod, replied, "Yes, it is."

The doctor, sensing Jungkook's nervousness, encouraged, "Take a deep breath. We're here to discuss your treatment plan and answer any questions you may have."

Jungkook took a deep breath, his shoulders relaxing marginally.

The doctor began explaining the details of Jungkook's leukemia diagnosis, outlining the specific type and its characteristics. "We've conducted thorough tests to understand your condition. Based on the results, we've devised a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your needs."

As the doctor delved into the treatment plan, discussing potential medications, chemotherapy sessions, and the overall timeline, Jungkook listened intently.

Jungkook, feeling a mix of emotions, finally mustered the courage to ask, "What are the side effects of the treatment?"

The doctor explained, "Treatment effects can vary, but common side effects include fatigue, nausea, and hair loss. "

After the doctor detailed Jungkook's treatment plan, he handed them a prescription outlining the medications necessary for his leukemia management.

"First, we have Imatinib. It's a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets specific proteins involved in leukemia cells' growth. You'll take this once a day, in the morning, with or without food," the doctor explained,

He continued, "For managing potential side effects, we're prescribing Ondansetron. It's an anti-nausea medication. Take it as needed, particularly if you experience nausea."

"Next, we have Filgrastim, a growth factor that stimulates the production of white blood cells. This will be administered during certain phases of your treatment cycle."

" Then next is Aspirin. This you'll take daily, usually in the evening, as a precautionary measure. It's essential to maintain your blood circulation during treatment."

Lastly, for general well-being and immune support, the doctor recommended a daily multivitamin and a probiotic. "These are supplementary but can contribute to your overall health during the treatment process."

"We'll be seeing you every two weeks for check-ups. Regular monitoring is crucial to ensure the treatment is progressing effectively, and we can make adjustments if needed."

Leaving the hospital, Jungkook and Eunwoo headed to the recommended pharmacy to collect the prescribed medications.

The pharmacist, explained each one again, "Imatinib in the morning, Ondansetron as needed for nausea, Filgrastim during specified treatment phases, Aspirin in the evening, and the supplements at the recommended times."

Jungkook and Eunwoo left the pharmacy with a bag filled with medicines.

Back at Eunwoo's home, Jungkook lay down on the bed. Eunwoo, approached with Jungkook's prescribed medication and a glass of water.

"Here you go, Jungkook. Take your medicine," Eunwoo said gently, placing the items on the bedside table.

Jungkook, sat up and reached for the medication. He swallowed the pills, Eunwoo watched silently,

As Jungkook finished, Eunwoo sat beside him. Cupping Jungkook's face in his hands, he looked into his eyes and spoke "Jungkook, be the Jungkook you were once. The Jungkook whom I loved, whom I admired, who...... was so strong."

Jungkook hugged him tightly, keeping his head on Eunwoo's shoulder.

Eunwoo, still holding Jungkook in the comforting embrace, gently asked, "Will you tell them about your condition?"

Jungkook, his head still resting on Eunwoo's shoulder, shook his head. "I don't want to, at least for now. Taehyung and Hye-joon are always busy, and Taemin is in his final year of college; he's also busy," Jungkook sighed,

Eunwoo cntinued, "Jungkook, you should tell them."

Jungkook raised his head, meeting Eunwoo's gaze. "I know, Eunwoo, but right now, they have their own lives to manage. I don't want to add more stress to them. Besides, I can handle it."

Eunwoo, though respecting Jungkook's choice, couldn't help but express his concern. "Keeping this from them might create more distance, Jungkook."

Jungkook sighed again, "I get what you're saying, Eunwoo, but for now, I need to focus on getting through the treatment. Once I have a better grasp on things, maybe then I'll consider telling them."

Eunwoo nodded, "Just remember, I'm here for you, today and always."

Jungkook managed a small smile,

The next day.......

Taehyung, Taemin and hye-joon gathered in the living room, the doorbell rang. Taemin, being the closest, went to open it, expecting a delivery or perhaps a neighbor. However, as he swung the door open, he was met with an unexpected sight.

Standing there was a figure clad in a cap, brown baggy hoodie, white baggy pants, and a purse slung across the shoulder. The person's face was hidden beneath the cap's brim.

"Hey, who are you?" Taemin said, the commotion caught the attention of Taehyung and Hye-joon, who approached.

The mysterious figure looked up, revealing none other than Jungkook. His expression was stern, arms crossed, and his usual warm demeanor replaced by an seriousness.

The sight of Jungkook in such an attire and attitude left the others stunned.

"Eomma?" Taemin stammered, his eyes widening in disbelief.

Jungkook, undeterred, responded with a tone that took everyone by surprise, "Yes, it's me, Kim Taemin. Where are your manners? Is this how you stop your mother, huh?"

Taemin, struggling to comprehend the situation, stammered,

"Eomma, what... what are you wearing?"

Jungkook, unyielding, shot back, "What I'm wearing is none of your concern. The concern should be how you treat your mother."
