Chapter 35
Third person's pov
The next day......
It was Tuesday, and Jungkook had his second chemotherapy session scheduled. The whole family, went to the hospital early in the morning as the nurse had asked. The atmosphere was tense, but they put on a brave face for Jungkook.
As they waited for Jungkook to be called in for his tests, they sat in a quiet corner of the waiting room.
Jungkook was biting his nails in tension, Mrs. Jeon was rubbing his back softly and telling him to calm down, " Jungkook its going to be alright, " She said.
Jungkook nodded but anyone could clearly see that he was scared and not prepared for the upcoming session.
Just then, a nurse walked in and called out Jungkook's name.
" Mr Kim Jungkook, its your turn." Hearing this Jungkook got up from the seat and followed the nurse into the examination room.
In the examination room, the nurse took Jungkook's vitals and prepared him for the chemotherapy session. Seeing the IV drip and the various machines, Jungkook's heart was filled with fear, although he already had the first session, he couldn't stop himself from feeling scared like it is going to be his first time.
He was afraid and he couldn't help but wonder if he'll ever be able to go back to his normal life.
After sometime the tests were over and it was time for chemotherapy.
'Mrs. Kim, should I call someone from your family to be with you during the session?' the nurse asked, seeing Jungkook's distress.
Jungkook immediately nodded with tears in his eyes. The nurse patted his shoulder and went outside the room.
" Is everything okay?" Mr. Jeon asked seeing the nurse approaching them.
"Yes everything is okay, but Mrs kim is feeling scared and is asking for a family member to be with him," The nurse replied, her eyes moving towards each member one by one.
" I will go," Taehyung said before anyone else could reply. The nurse nodded and led Taehyung towards the ward.
As Taehyung walked inside, he put on a mask given by the nurse and sat down beside Jungkook. He started patting his hair gently and whispered, "It's going to be okay, kook. I'm here with you."
But Jungkook couldn't hold back his tears any longer. 'It's hurting a lot, Taehyung. What shoul-ld I do?' he said, his voice trembling.
Taehyung's heart broke seeing Jungkook cry like this. He gently wiped away Jungkook's tears and said, 'Just hold my hand and breathe. Let's count together, okay?'
And so, they both started counting, with Taehyung's voice slowly calming Jungkook down. As the chemotherapy session went on, Taehyung kept talking to Jungkook, and distracting him from the pain.
Finally, the session was over, and Jungkook was exhausted. Taehyung helped him sit up and waited for him to gather his strength. As they walked out of the room, Taehyung supported Jungkook and made sure he was comfortable.
After coming back home, Jungkook felt drained and couldn't even muster the strength to move. He lay in bed, feeling weak and exhausted from the chemotherapy. Taehyung gently caressed his forehead,
"Are you feeling any better?" Taehyung asked softly, his voice filled with concern.
Jungkook shook his head weakly, his eyes filled with fatigue. "I just feel so tired, Tae. I don't know how much more of this I can take," he admitted,
" You're so strong, kook. You've made it through so much already. We'll get through this........together," he reassured him, planting a gentle kiss on his forehead.
Meanwhile, Taemin and Hye-joon were siting beside Jungkook on the bed. " Massage your mother's legs you both." Taehyung said looking at them.
They immediately got up, Hye-joon started massaging one leg and Taemin the other while Taehyung massaged Jungkook's arms.
Jungkook felt so relaxed and at peace, he smiled a little and then fell asleep.
Two days later, Jungkook's condition showed a slight improvement. Though still weak, he managed to sit up in bed, now without anyone's support but he needed to hold onto someone while walking.
Right now, Taehyung was siting beside him, holding his hand.
"Bunny, should we go on a date?" Taehyung asked, with a soft smile.
" Wait bunny- Taehyung I am not a teenager anymore that you will call me with these funky names,"
" Who said its funky huh? Well you don't know but it was actually your birth name because the doctors thought that you were a bunny at first." Taehyung said controlling his laugh.
Jungkook chuckled weakly.
Then after sometime, Taehyung made jungkook take his medication and went towards the living room where Yoongi was siting.
"Hyung, can you help me with something?" Taehyung called out, coming down stairs.
Yoongi raised an eyebrow, curious as to what Taehyung had in mind. "Why do you need my help?" he questioned,
"I want to arrange a surprise date for Jungkook, but I need help setting up the garden," Taehyung said with a grin.
" A date ? In the garden ? Are you serious bro ? "
Taehyung nodded, his grin widened.
Yoongi sighed, shaking his head at Taehyung. "And what exactly do I have to do?" he asked, already knowing that he wouldn't be able to refuse his request.
" Carry chairs and table outside, while I decorate the garden,"
Yoongi pretended not to hear the words and started walking towards the stairs.
Taehyung grabbed Yoongi's hand, his eyes wide and pleading. "Hyung, please? " he pleaded, his wide eyes made him look like a puppy.
Rolling his eyes, Yoongi relented, unable to resist Taehyung's puppy eyes. "Fine, I'll help you," he agreed.
" I knew you wouldn't disappointed me, rotten cherry," Taehyung said as he bowed to Yoongi and started going towards the garden.
" Yah what do you mean by rotton cherry? " Yoongi shouted but no response.
" If I am a rotten cherry then you are a rotten bakery in a sewer. " Yoongi shouted following Taehyung outside.
" C'mon let's get to work." Taehyung said completely ignoring Yoongi's words.
Together, Taehyung and Yoongi set to work, carrying tables, chairs, and decorations out to the garden. Soon they had transformed the space into a magical setting fit for a romantic evening.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Jeon, prepared a delicious meal for the occasion as Taehyung asked her to so so.
And lastly Taehyung assigned the waiter role to Taemin, well he asked Yoongi first but Yoongi started giving him a lecture about how disrespectful Taehyung is to ask, Yoongi who is 2 years older than him to serve the meal.
As the sun began to set, Taehyung stepped back to admire his handiwork. "Everything looks perfect," he declared, a satisfied smile gracing his lips.
Then Taehyung tiptoed into the room, a soft smile playing on his lips as he prepared to surprise Jungkook with their special date night. But as he entered, his heart sank at the sight before him. Jungkook was siting on the bed, his shoulders shaking with loud sobs, his face buried in his hands.
"Jungkook, what's wrong?" Taehyung asked as he rushed to Jungkook's side.
Jungkook looked up, his eyes red and swollen from crying. "M-My ha-air," he whispered, "It's fa-alli-ing out."
Taehyung's heart clenched at the sight of the fallen pieces of hair scattered around Jungkook. He knelt beside him, gently brushing away the tears that stained his cheeks. "It's okay, love," he said in the softest voice he could come up with.
"It's just hair. You're still as beautiful as ever, even without it."
But Jungkook shook his head, his tears flowing freely now. "No, Tae. I'll look ugly," he sobbed,
Taehyung pulled Jungkook into his arms, holding him close, "You could never be ugly, Jungkook," he said, "You're the most beautiful person I know."
Jungkook buried his face in Taehyung's chest, his body shaking with sobs. Taehyung was patted his back gently.
After a few minutes......
"Jungkook, stop crying," Taehyung murmured softly, his arms still wrapped around his husband's trembling form.
"But my ha-air," Jungkook sobbed, his eyes fixed on the fallen hair on the floor.
"You don't need your hair to look beautiful," Taehyung reassured him, brushing a stray tear from Jungkook's cheek. "And trust me, your new hair will grow even better than before."
Jungkook shook his head, "But what if it doesn't? "
Gently cupping his face in his hands, Taehyung looked into his husband's eyes with all the love he could muster. "Jungkook, listen to me," he said firmly, "You are beautiful, with or without hair and your hair will grow even healthier and stronger."
After Jungkook had calmed down, Taehyung gently wiped away his tears and said, "Come on, you have to get ready for our date."
Jungkook rubbed his nose with the sleeves of his shirt and said, "Which date?"
"Just a little time together with you and me," Taehyung replied, offering Jungkook a reassuring smile.
With a sigh, Taehyung helped Jungkook to stand up. "Can you walk?" he asked, concern written on his face.
Jungkook shook his head weakly, his legs feeling like jelly beneath him. Without hesitation, Taehyung scooped him up into his arms, holding him close as he carried him to the closet.
"What do you want to wear?" Taehyung asked, his voice gentle as he looked through Jungkook's clothes.
Jungkook hesitated, feeling too drained to even think about changing outfits. "I don't have the strength to change," he said.
Hearing this Taehyung closed the closet.
"Leave it," Taehyung said softly, placing a tender kiss on Jungkook's forehead. "You look good in these clothes as well. Let's go and enjoy our time together."
Jungkook managed a small smile, "Ok-kay," he whispered, leaning into Taehyung's shoulder.
In the garden, Jungkook gasped in awe as he took in the beautiful setup that Taehyung had prepared for their date. "Beautiful?" Taehyung asked with a smile.
Jungkook nodded, his eyes shining as he looked around. Taehyung gently lowered him onto a chair, making sure he was comfortable. "So, how should we start the date?" He asked, looking at jungkook.
Jungkook pondered for a moment before a small grin spread across his face. "Compliment me," he said with cheeky smile.
Taehyung chuckled and cleared his throat dramatically. "Ahem. Jungkook, are you a magician? Because whenever you're around, everything else disappears," he said with a cheesy grin.
Jungkook couldn't help but laugh at Taehyung's cheesy line, his heart feeling lighter than it had in days. "Okay, that was cheesy, but I'll take it,"
Taehyung beamed at Jungkook's laughter, "Now, let's call the waiter," he said, clapping his hands together.
Jungkook furrowed his brow in confusion. "Waiter?" he questioned, unsure of what Taehyung meant.
Taehyung nodded and waved his hand towards the entrance of the garden. "Just wait and see," he said.
To Jungkook's surprise, Taemin appeared from around the corner, dressed in a waiter's outfit. His eyes widened as he took in his younger son's unexpected appearance.
"We would like to have two bowls of soup and ramen," Taehyung said to Taemin, smiling. "Jungkook, would you like anything else?" he asked, turning to his husband.
Jungkook thought for a moment before shaking his head.
Taemin nodded, jotting down the order on his notepad. "Coming right up, sir," he said with a grin before disappearing into the house to fetch their meal.
Jungkook couldn't help but feel curious about how Taehyung managed to convince Taemin to play the role of the waiter for their date. "Taehyung, how did you convince him to do this?" he asked,
" Just leave everything and focus on me," Taehyung said talking Jungkook's hand in his.
