Chapter 3
Third person's pov
Jungkook shakily wiped his mouth, the realization of blood in the toilet still fresh in his mind. He flushed the blood away, As he stood up, his hands trembled, and he washed his face, trying to steady himself.
Unlocking the door, Jungkook stepped out into the room where Taehyung awaited, "Are you okay?" Taehyung asked, his voice surprisingly gentle compared to the earlier coldness.
Jungkook, still grappling with the shock of what had transpired, merely hummed in response.
Taehyung, sensing Jungkook's reluctance to communicate, suggested, "Should I get you some medicine for nausea?"
Jungkook shook his head, his voice barely audible, "I'm fine. Just tired."
Then Jungkook laid on the bed.
As Jungkook lay down on the bed, a heavy silence settled in the room. Taehyung joined him on the bed, the silence stretching into an unspoken void.
Throughout the night, Jungkook found himself unable to sleep. His mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, each one a question mark hovering over his well-being.
Taehyung, lying beside him, seemed to doze off effortlessly.
Jungkook's gaze lingered on the ceiling, the shadows playing tricks on his restless thoughts. The unspoken tension in their relationship seemed to hang in the air,
As the night wore on, Jungkook tossed and turned, unable to escape the haunting thoughts that circled in his mind.
The next morning........
The next morning, the family gathered at the breakfast table, Jungkook, hesitated before breaking the uneasy silence.
"Tae, can you drop me at my friend's house on your way to the hospital?" Jungkook's request hung in the air,
Taehyung, responded without looking up, "I'll be late. Can't you just go on Sunday"
Jungkook's plea for a simple favor met a cold response, and frustration crept into his voice. "You can't even do this for me?"
Hye-Joon, interjecting with an air of
Frustration, said, "Eomma, stop being dramatic for once, will you?"
Taehyung, releasing a sigh, glanced up from his breakfast. "Fine, I'll drop you," he relented, his tone still carrying a hint of irritation.
Hye-Joon, added, "Appa, we'll be late, and besides, Eomma can take a taxi, can't he?"
Taehyung, in response, addressed Hye-Joon, "Don't you know today's world? How can I let him go alone? He's already naive and dumb."
Jungkook retorted, "Do you have to insult me every time you talk?"
Taehyung, seemingly unapologetic, countered, "I'm only stating facts."
After the breakfast, they left the house. The car ride to Jungkook's friend's house was marked by an uncomfortable silence.
Taehyung focused on the road, his expression distant, while Jungkook stared out of the window, lost in his own thoughts and Hye-joon and taemin were using their phones.
As they approached the destination, Taehyung finally spoke, "Make it quick, otherwise I will be late."
Jungkook, nodded and quickly stepped out of the car. The door closed with a loud thud, and Taehyung drove away.
Then Jungkook made his way to the front door.
Jungkook stood at Eunwoo's doorstep and pressed the bell, as the door swung open, Eunwoo greeted him with a warm smile. "Jungkook, it's been too long!" Eunwoo exclaimed, pulling him into a tight hug.
Eunwoo led Jungkook inside, offering a seat in the cozy living room. "Coffee?" Eunwoo suggested,
Jungkook managed a smile. "Yeah, coffee sounds good."
As Eunwoo prepared the coffee, he couldn't help but notice Jungkook's troubled expression. "What's wrong, Jungkook?" Eunwoo asked gently as he handed over a steaming mug.
Jungkook hesitated, the words catching in his throat. "Eunwoo, lately, I haven't been feeling well. I've been tired, exhausted, and yesterday I threw up..." He paused,
Eunwoo, interjected, "Is it good news?"
Jungkook, not in the mood for humor, set down the coffee mug and lightly hit Eunwoo's shoulder. "I'm serious, I threw up... blood."
Eunwoo's playful demeanor vanished, replaced by genuine concern. "Blood? Jungkook, did you go to the doctor? Have you told your family?"
Jungkook shook his head, his eyes reflecting a mix of fear and uncertainty. "No, I didn't. Even if I told them, they wouldn't take me seriously, so I decided to come to you. Can you come with me to the hospital?"
Eunwoo, immediately hugged Jungkook. "Of course, I will."
Jungkook, feeling a surge of emotions, looked into Eunwoo's eyes. "I'm scared, Eunwoo."
Eunwoo, gently wiped away Jungkook's tears. "Nothing will happen to you, Jungkook. We'll go to the doctor, figure out what's going on, and you'll be okay. I'm here for you."
At the hospital......
In the hospital, the doctor conducted a thorough examination of Jungkook's symptoms, asking, "Can you tell me more about when these symptoms started?"
Jungkook explained, "It's been a few weeks. I've been feeling tired all the time, and yesterday, I threw up blood."
The doctor, maintaining a calm demeanor, nodded and said, "I see. We'll need to run some tests to understand what might be causing these symptoms. Don't worry; we'll get to the bottom of it."
As Jungkook and Eunwoo waited for the tests to be scheduled, Eunwoo offered words of comfort,
After a while, a nurse called Jungkook for the blood tests. Eunwoo, giving him a reassuring pat on the back, said, "I'll be right here waiting for you."
Jungkook smiled and went with the nurse and came back after an hour.
As they waited for the test results, the hospital surroundings became a familiar yet unsettling backdrop.
After what felt like an eternity, the doctor returned with a stack of reports. He explained the next steps and informed them that the results would be ready in a few hours. Jungkook nodded,
Eunwoo, sensing Jungkook's unease, suggested, "Stay with me for today, hmm?" His concern for his friend was evident.
Jungkook hesitated, his thoughts momentarily drifting to the responsibilities at home. "I'm not sure. I haven't even made dinner for Taehyung and the kids."
Eunwoo gently took Jungkook's hands in his, offering a compassionate gaze. "It's not like they eat the dinner you make; they eat outside. Jungkook, have some time for yourself. They're adults; they can take care of themselves."
Jungkook, hesitantly nodded. "I'll message Taehyung then," he said,
As they left the hospital, Eunwoo drove them to his place. The evening unfolded with a blend of shared silence and sporadic conversations.
At night, the room held a heavy silence as Jungkook and Eunwoo sat on the bed.
Eunwoo, breaking the quiet, said with concern, "Jungkook, you need to speak up for yourself."
Jungkook, his voice tinged with resignation, replied, "What can I even do, Eunwoo?"
Eunwoo leaned in closer, his gaze unwavering, "Be the Jungkook you were back then. You've gotten too soft after having kids."
He noticed tears escaping Jungkook's eyes and gently wiped them away. "What has happened to you? You weren't like this. Remember when you beat a guy like hell because he tried to flirt with you?"
Jungkook, a small smile breaking through the tears, chuckled at the memory. Eunwoo cupped his face and continued, "Kook-ah, be the Jungkook you used to be. I don't like this version of you at all."
Just as the weight of their conversation lingered in the room, Jungkook's phone buzzed, cutting through the heavy atmosphere. He wiped away his tears and opened the message, and the room seemed to freeze as he read the results.
Eunwoo, sensing the shift, asked with concern, "What does it say?"
Jungkook didn't responded.
" Jungkook, are the results okay?"
Jungkook, his voice trembling, "It's leuk-kemia."
Eunwoo, momentarily stunned, took a deep breath before responding, "Leukemia?"
