Chapter 25
Third person's pov
Over the night, Jungkook underwent a variety of tests, and due to the nature of his condition, no visitors were allowed. The hallway outside his room was filled with anxious silence, each family member lost in their own thoughts and worries.
As the hours dragged on, Taehyung managed to convince Taemin to go home with Minyoung and Sunho as he kept crying. With Taemin gone, the tension in the hallway only seemed to grow thicker.
Despite Jimin's suggestion that Hye-joon should get some rest, she shook her head. "I'm fine, uncle," she insisted,
Suddenly, the nurse emerged from Jungkook's room, "Mrs. Kim is awake now," she announced softly. "You can go in and see him."
Without hesitation, the family members began to file into Jungkook's room, eager to see him after hours of waiting and worrying. But as Taehyung moved to follow, Yoongi stepped in his path, blocking his way.
"Didn't you hear before?" Yoongi's voice was cold, his eyes flashing with barely concealed anger. "You're not allowed to see him."
Taehyung's own frustration flared at Yoongi's words. "And I already told you," he shot back, his voice tight with emotion, "that he is my husband."
"He wasn't born your husband and he is my brother before he is your husband," Yoongi retorted sharply.
Before the argument could escalate further, Mr. Jeon intervened, his voice firm. "Both of you, shut up," he commanded, his eyes flashing with annoyance. "Can't you see that we're in a hospital? With Jungkook's condition, can't you just stay silent for a while? If you're going to cause a scene in front of him, then you both stay outside."
Taehyung and Yoongi stopped talking and then reluctantly, they followed the others into Jungkook's room,
Mrs. Jeon rushed to Jungkook's side, enveloping him in a tight embrace and showering him with kisses. "My baby, my baby," she murmured tearfully, her heart overflowing with relief at seeing him awake.
Jungkook returned his mother's embrace with a small smile. But when he spotted Taehyung in the room, his expression darkened, and he turned his head away.
"I don't want to see him," Jungkook stated flatly,
Immediately, Yoongi stepped forward, his own anger flaring once more. "Get out," he ordered, his voice sharp, "Jungkook doesn't want you here."
Taehyung opened his mouth to say something, but before he could utter a word, Mr. Jeon intervened, his voice calm but firm. "Let Taehyung have a talk with Jungkook," he said, giving Yoongi a stern look.
"He's still Jungkook's husband. Let them have a moment."
" Appa how can you- " Yoongi stopped talking as he saw Mr. Jeon's deadly glare.
Reluctantly, Yoongi nodded, as he stepped out of the room along with Mrs. Jeon and Mr. Jeon, leaving Taehyung and Jungkook alone.
Then Taehyung approached Jungkook cautiously,
But Jungkook's cold demeanor halted Taehyung in his tracks. He turned his head away, refusing to meet Taehyung's gaze. "I said I don't want to see you," said jungkook.
Undeterred, Taehyung took a step closer, his eyes pleading. "Let's talk, hmm?" he suggested softly, his voice filled with desperation.
But Jungkook remained still. "No. Get out," he demanded,
Taehyung reached out to touch Jungkook's hand, but Jungkook pushed his hand away with a forceful gesture. "Don't touch me," he snapped, his eyes flashing with anger.
"I don't need your pity. You didn't care about me before, but now you're pretending to love me because you're worried about who will take care of you if I die."
Taehyung's heart sank at Jungkook's words. "I... Jungkook, I know I haven't treated you right," he admitted, "But do you really think so little of me? That I would only care about myself?"
Jungkook's gaze remained cold and unyielding. "Yes," he replied bitterly. "And now that you have your answer, get out."
Taehyung felt a lump form in his throat. "Jungkook, I-" he began, but Jungkook cut him off with a sharp shout.
"Didn't I say get out?" Jungkook's voice rose with frustration, his tone laced with exhaustion. "I don't want to see your face. It's annoying. Yeah, that's what you said to me, and now I'm saying it to you. Get out."
"Don't make me shout," Jungkook added, his voice more plain this time. "I'm already feeling weak."
With a heavy sigh, Taehyung turned and exited the room, his footsteps echoing in the empty hallway. Outside, Yoongi's gaze met Taehyung's,
"I told you before that he doesn't want to see you," Yoongi said with a glare, saying this, Yoongi and the others returned to Jungkook's room,
Inside Jungkook's room.........
Inside the room, Mrs. Jeon's tears flowed freely as she held onto Jungkook's hands tightly, her heart breaking at the sight of her son's pale face. "Eom-mma, don't cry," Jungkook whispered softly,
"Ho-ow c-can I no-ot cry?" Mrs. Jeon choked out, her voice thick with emotion. "Look at you, m-my ba-aby."
Jungkook gently wiped away her tears, "I don't like to see you cry," he murmured, his voice shaking.
Mrs. Jeon took his hands in hers and kissed them twice. "If I had-dn't fo-ound ou-ut, w-were you plan-nning to go thro-ough thi-is all alone?" she asked,
Jungkook's eyes filled with tears as he shook his head, "I wa-as plann-ning t-to tell you," he admitted, looking down in his lap.
Mr. Jeon moved to Jungkook's bedside, and he wrapped his arms around his son in a tight embrace. "You will be fine," he reassured Jungkook although his cracky voice was not matching with his expressions.
Jungkook snuggled into his father's chest, as tears streamed down his cheeks. Beside them, Yoongi stood silently, looking at them with red eyes.
Yoongi looked like as if he would start crying even if he said a single word.
Hye-joon was just standing silently, not knowing what to say or what to do in that situation.
Jungkook's gaze softened as he looked at Yoongi, his heart aching at the sight of his older brother's red eyes. "Hyung," he called softly,
Yoongi's red-rimmed eyes met Jungkook's, his expression raw with emotion. "Hmm," he replied, his voice raspy.
Without hesitation, Jungkook reached out to Yoongi, his hand extending in a silent invitation. "Come here," he said gently. "I need you."
Tears welled up in Yoongi's eyes as he moved to embrace Jungkook, his arms enveloping his younger brother in a tight embrace. Jungkook rested his head against Yoongi's shoulder, his own tears mingling with Yoongi's as they held each other close.
In a hushed voice, Jungkook whispered into Yoongi's ear, "I am fine, hyung," he murmured,
Hearing this Yoongi couldn't hold back his emotions any longer. With a choked sob, he buried his face in Jungkook's shoulder, his tears flowing freely as he let himself finally release the pent-up anguish and fear that had been gnawing at him since he learned of Jungkook's diagnosis.
Jungkook held Yoongi tighter, "It's okay, hyung," he whispered, his voice soothing and gentle.
Jimin stood nearby, his own eyes brimming with tears. He moved to stand behind Yoongi, his hand coming to rest on Yoongi's back.
As Yoongi's tears continued to fall, Jungkook spoke again, "Hyung, I am really fine," he reassured Yoongi,
But Yoongi's tears showed no signs of stopping. He clung to Jungkook desperately, his heart breaking with the knowledge of what his beloved brother was facing.
Even when they were kids and Jungkook would get hurt, Yoongi would be the one crying and Jungkook would be the one consoling him.
As the minutes passed, Yoongi's sobs gradually subsided, leaving him with only the occasional sniffle as he wiped away his tears.
"Nothing will happen to me, hyung," Jungkook said softly, looking at Yoongi, "Don't worry."
Yoongi took Jungkook's hands in his own, his grip firm and unwavering. "I won't even let anything happen to you," said Yoongi, his nose was fully red.
Jungkook nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "I know," he replied simply,
With a gentle touch, Yoongi cupped Jungkook's face in his hands, his touch tender and affectionate. Leaning forward, he placed a long, lingering kiss on Jungkook's forehead,
After a moment, Jungkook turned his attention to his parents, "Eomma, appa, you should go home now," he insisted, his tone gentle and soft. "It's really late."
Mrs. Jeon hesitated, her eyes filled with worry. "How can I leave my son in this condition?" she protested with a cracked voice.
"I am fine, eomma," Jungkook reassured her, his tone soothing. "You both should go, and besides, Yoongi and Jimin hyung are staying with me."
Reluctantly, Mrs. Jeon and Mr. Jeon exchanged a glance before nodding in agreement.
Turning to Hye-joon, Jungkook said, "Hye-joon, you too, go back home now," He paused for a moment before saying, " Take your dad with you."
Hye-joon nodded silently, her eyes brimming with unshed tears as she approached Jungkook's bedside. Wrapping her arms around him in a tight embrace, she held him close for a moment before pulling away.
Jungkook didn't hugged her back.
"I will get go-oing now," she said softly, as she got up from the bed. Jungkook simply nodded in response.
Then Mr. Jeon, Mrs. Jeon and Hye-joon left the room.
As Hye-joon, Mrs. Jeon, and Mr. Jeon exited the room, their eyes fell upon Taehyung, who sat slumped in a chair with red-rimmed eyes. Mrs. Jeon and Mr. Jeon walked past him without a word, they were too disappointed to say anything.
"Appa, let's go home now," Hye-joon said softly as she placed a gentle hand on Taehyung's shoulder,
Taehyung nodded silently, his eyes fixed on the door where Jungkook lay inside. His mind was filled with a mixture of emotions,
Then Taehyung and Hye-joon made their way out of the hospital room, their steps slow yet heavy. As they walked down the hallway, neither spoke, their thoughts consumed by the events of the day.
Outside, the night air felt heavy, the darkness of the sky mirroring the heaviness in their hearts. They walked in silence, until they reached the parking lot where their car awaited them.
Without a word, Taehyung opened the car door and slid into the driver's seat, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. Hye-joon sat beside him, her gaze fixed on the road ahead,
After 10 minutes........
Upon reaching home, Mrs. Jeon and Mr. Jeon stepped out of their car and made their way inside the home,
Meanwhile, Taehyung parked his car and turned to Hye-joon, his voice laced with exhaustion. "Wait a second, I'll go get Taemin," he said,
Hye-joon nodded as Taehyung stepped out of the car and went inside.
Inside, Taehyung saw Mr and Mrs. Jeon going towards their room and Minyoung was standing in hallway, "Where is Taemin?" he asked in a low voice.
"He's sleeping," she replied softly, gesturing towards the room where Taemin lay.
Taehyung nodded and as he entered the room he saw Taemin tossing and turning in his sleep, "Taemin, wake up," he called gently, his voice filled with concern.
Taemin stirred at the sound of his father's voice, his eyes fluttering open as he struggled to fully awaken. "Appa?" he murmured, his voice heavy with sleep.
Taehyung reached out, taking Taemin's hand in his own. "Let's go home," he said,
But Taemin remained still, his eyes clouded with confusion and fear. Taehyung knelt infront of him and took his shoes.
Putting on Taemin's shoes, Taehyung urged him gently. "Come on, Taemin," he coaxed,
Still, Taemin hesitated, his gaze searching his father's face for reassurance. "Appa, I fe-eel suffocated," he said, fear could be clearly heard in his tone.
Taehyung gathered his son into his arms, holding him close in a tight embrace. "Why, my baby? Why do you feel this way?" he whispered as he gently patted Taemin's head.
Taemin buried his face against his father's chest, "I feel gui-ilty, ap-ppa," he admitted, his words barely understandable through his sobs. "I feel li-ike ev-verything is clo-osing in o-on m-me."
" C-can I s-see eo-omma?" Taemin asked looking at Taehyung with teary doe eyes which looked exactly like jungkook's.
Taehyung kissed Taemin's forehead, multiple times "Let's go home for now," he said softly, "Eomma to rest and you can meet him for now."
Gently, Taehyung made Taemin stand, his hand holding his son's tightly as they made their way out of the room and towards the car.
After returning home, Hye-joon retreated to her room, leaving Taemin and Taehyung alone together. Taemin's voice broke the silence,
"Appa, c-can you stay with me?" Taemin asked, his voice was childlike.
Taehyung nodded without hesitation, and then they made their way to Taemin's room, where Taehyung gently made Taemin to lay down on the bed. Taking Taemin's hand in his own, Taehyung spoke softly, his words a soothing balm.
"I'm here until you sleep," Taehyung reassured him, and pressed a gentle kiss to Taemin's hand, his touch warm and comforting. "Sleep, I am here."
But Taemin's restless mind refused to find solace in sleep, his thoughts consumed by his longing for his mother and his overwhelming guilt. "Appa, I can't slee-ep," he said, his voice trembling. "I want to g-go to eomma."
"Taemin, you are 19 years old now," Taehyung began, his voice gentle but firm. "When I told you that Jungkook needs to rest, you need to listen to me. You are no longer a kid that I should repeat things over and over."
Taemin sat up, his eyes filled with tears as he looked at his father. "Yes, I am no longer a kid," he agreed. "But I am your son, and yo-ou said that for me, yo-ou will always be litt-tle Taemin. Right now, I n-need you. I don't know w-what to do. I feel like dying. Eom-mma doesn't want to see me anymore. He do-oesn't want me near him anym-more. I miss hi-im. I feel so gui-ilty."
Taehyung immediately pulled Taemin into his arms. "Shhh, baby, shhh, yes you are still my little Taemin," he whispered. He gently guided Taemin back to the bed, his hands moving soothingly over his son's trembling form. "Just sleep. Eomma will talk to you. He won't be mad at you for long."
With gentle reassurance, Taehyung somehow managed to lull Taemin into a fitful sleep, his own heart heavy with sorrow and guilt. As Taemin's breathing steadied and his body relaxed, Taehyung rose from the bed and made his way out of the room.
But as soon as he stepped into the hallway, the weight of his emotions became too much to bear. Collapsing onto the floor, Taehyung began to cry, his sobs wracking his body as he let out all the pain and anguish he had been holding inside.
