Chapter 11
Third person's pov
At night, Hye-joon and Taemin went home and Mina was admitted for a few days.
As Jungkook sat beside Taehyung's bed, engrossed in a book, a wave of nausea suddenly washed over him, clutching his stomach, he stumbled to his feet and staggered towards the bathroom,
Once inside, Jungkook barely had time to register his surroundings before he was overcome by a violent bout of vomiting, the taste of blood bitter and metallic in his mouth. He gripped the sides of the toilet bowl, his body wracked with spasms as he struggled to expel the contents of his stomach.
Finally after a few minutes, the torrent of blood-tinged bile subsided, leaving him drained and trembling, his limbs weak and unsteady.
With trembling hands, Jungkook reached for the flush handle, the sound of rushing water echoing loudly in the snall space.
He splashed cold water on his face, hoping to clear his mind and steady his nerves.
As he gazed at his reflection in the mirror, he saw his pallid complexion and sunken eyes. It seemed like he lost a lot of weight in just a few days.
Summoning all his strength, Jungkook pushed himself upright and made his way back to Taehyung's bedside, sinking into the chair with a heavy sigh.
Feeling drained and depleted, Jungkook closed his eyes and leaned back in the chair, his mind swirling with a jumble of thoughts and emotions.
As Jungkook caught his breath, suddenly he saw Taehyung stirred awake. "W-Wat-ter," Taehyung rasped, his voice hoarse and weak.
Jungkook quickly poured water into a glass and steadied Taehyung as he took slow sips. "There you go," Jungkook murmured softly, placing the glass back within reach. "Do you need anything else?"
Taehyung shook his head, his eyelids drooping with exhaustion. Jungkook settled back into his chair, watching over Taehyung as he drifted back to sleep.
As Taehyung's breathing evened out, Jungkook reached out to gently stroke his hair, soon he fell asleep like that.
After 1 week........
Throughout the week, Jungkook tirelessly attended to Taehyung's every need, whether it was adjusting his pillows for comfort, feeding him meals, or simply offering a comforting presence by his side. Taehyung's gradual improvement brought a sense of relief to the family,
In this time, Mina got close to Jungkook, she would talk with him for hours. Jungkook also felt happy to have a friend beside him.
Now, back at home, Taehyung lay on the bed while Jungkook gently massaged his weary muscles.
In this 1 week, Taehyung saw how tirelessly Jungkook took care of him and he felt a warmth in his heart again rising for him, "Leave it, you must be tired now," Taehyung insisted,
But Jungkook shook his head with a little smile, "I'm fine," he reassured Taehyung, as Jungkook kneaded Taehyung's arms, Taehyung reached out and grasped his hand.
"I said, now rest," Taehyung insisted softly, his gaze was soft. "You didn't rest at the hospital, and you can at least rest now.......I'm fine."
Jungkook finally straightened up and then laid beside him on the bed.
" You can take a nap, I will wake you up when it's time for dinner." Taehyung said looking at Jungkook.
Jungkook nodded and soon drifted into his much needed sleep.
At the dinner time.......
Hye-joon made Jajangmyeon for the dinner, this time the dinner looked a bit better from last time.
As Jungkook took a bite of the Jajangmyeon, his taste buds were assaulted by an overwhelming wave of saltiness. He couldn't hide his grimace as he tried to swallow it down, his throat protesting,
"It's way too much salty," Jungkook exclaimed, setting his chopsticks down with a clatter.
Hye-joon, frowned slightly at his response. "It's fine to me," she countered,
Jungkook shot her a pointed look. "Well, I'm the one eating it, and I can barely swallow it," he retorted, his tone edged with irritation.
Hye-joon sighed in frustration, "Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not good," she shot back, her voice rising in pitch.
Jungkook's eyebrows furrowed as he leaned forward, his expression incredulous.
"Are you serious right now?" he exclaimed, his voice tinged with disbelief. "This isn't about whether I like it or not, it's about the fact that it's practically inedible!"
Hye-joon's cheeks flushed with indignation as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Well, maybe your taste buds are just off," she said,
"My taste buds are fine, thank you very much," Jungkook replied back, his voice laced with frustration. "It's your cooking that needs work."
Hye-joon's eyes flashed with annoyance as she stood her ground. "I followed the recipe exactly," she insisted, "If you don't like it, then don't eat it."
Jungkook scoffed at her response, his irritation mounting. "Fine, I won't," he declared, pushing his bowl away with a huff.
As Jungkook stood up from the chair and turned to go towards his room, "Jungkook, sit down," Taehyung's voice, came from behind.
Before Jungkook could respond, a sudden surge of warmth flooded his senses, and he felt blood escaping from his nostrils. Panic seized him as he instinctively reached up to stem the flow, but the bleeding showed no signs of stopping.
Taemin, grabbed a tissue and offered it to Jungkook with a slighty worried expression, Jungkook took the tissue and pressed it on his nose.
Taehyung moved swiftly to his side, He retrieved a handful of tissues and pressed them firmly against Jungkook's nose, applying just the right amount of pressure to stem the flow.
"Here, tilt your head backwards," Taehyung instructed gently, guiding Jungkook's movements,
Jungkook complied, his head angled upwards. The warmth of Taehyung's hands against his skin offered a sense of comfort to him.
Minutes passed in tense silence as Taehyung continued to apply pressure. Slowly but surely, the bleeding began to subside, the tissue was fully red.
As the flow of blood finally ceased, Taehyung withdrew the tissues and surveyed Jungkook's pale complexion "Are you feeling okay?" he said softly,
Jungkook nodded weakly, his breaths coming in shallow gasps as he leaned back against the chair, exhaustion washing over him in waves. "Yeah," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. "Just a little lightheaded."
Taehyung's expression softened at Jungkook's words, his hand coming to rest gently on Jungkook's shoulder, "You should rest," he said,
Jungkook nodded and after sometime he went to the room,
Hye-joon saw everything silently and didn't uttered a word.
The next day........
The morning sun streamed through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room as Jungkook stirred awake.
With a yawn, he stood up and went to the cupboard and he reached for the bottle of medication, dutifully taking his morning dose before slipping out of the room.
Taehyung was still sleeping peacefully on the bed.
Then Jungkook made his way to the kitchen and started making breakfast for Hye-joon and Taemin. With practiced efficiency, he set about cooking, the sizzle of eggs in the pan and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air.
"Hye-joon, Taemin, wake up," Jungkook called out, gently rousing them from their slumber. "Breakfast is ready."
After 10 minutes, they came down the stairs and ate the breakfast which Jungkook has prepared.
Jungkook could notice that Taemin was looking a bit off but he didn't asked because he thought it was just his studies.
After Hye-joon and Taemin left for their collage and hospital, Jungkook sat on the sofa and he noticed a text from Mina,
"Hey Jungkook, could you come over to my place today? I'm feeling pretty bored," the text read, Mina's name flashing on the screen.
Jungkook pondered for a moment, considering the invitation. After a few seconds he replied,
"Did you have breakfast yet?" Jungkook replied, typing out a response.
Mina's reply came swiftly, "Not yet."
"Then let's have breakfast together I will be there soon," Jungkook quickly typed a response.
Mina's response, a simple "Okay ❤️," filled him with a sense of excitement as he stood up and started preparing breakfast for Taehyung.
After the breakfast was prepared, he made his way towards the room to get ready.
With Taehyung still asleep, Jungkook moved quietly through the room, Taehyung stirred slightly as Jungkook moved past, his voice soft with sleep as he asked, "Are you going somewhere?"
Jungkook paused, turning to face Taehyung with a smile. "I'm going to Mina's place. I've already prepared breakfast for you. I'll be back within a couple of hours."
Taehyung nodded and soon Jungkook left for Mina's place.
Jungkook's outfit:
At Mina's place, Jungkook and Mina sat down for breakfast. Mina had prepared a simple meal, and they began eating quietly. After a few bites, Mina spoke up, breaking the silence. "How is Taehyung now?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.
Jungkook looked up from his plate and replied, "He's much better now. The doctors say he's recovering well."
Mina nodded, a small smile forming on her lips. "That's good to hear," she said softly.
Jungkook then shifted the conversation, asking, "How are you these days? Are you taking care of yourself properly?"
Mina let out a heavy sigh before responding, "I'm just... living, I suppose."
Jungkook's expression softened as he listened to her. "It's important to take care of yourself, especially now," he said gently.
Mina nodded again, but there was a hint of sadness in her eyes. "I know," she murmured.
Then Jungkook said, "When will you start your chemotherapy?"
Mina replied, "The doctor said it will begin in three days."
Jungkook nodded understanding.
Then, Jungkook suggested, "Why don't you call your children here? You'll need someone to take care of you during your treatment."
Mina shook her head. "Only if they had time..." she trailed off, her voice tinged with disappointment. "The hospital called them when I was admitted, but they said they're busy. I guess I'll manage on my own. If I can't, then I'll just... give up."
Jungkook's heart sank at her words, and he reached out to place a comforting hand on hers. "Mina, you shouldn't give up," he said softly. "You have to recover."
Mina looked at him, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "But recover for who?" she whispered. "My husband? He's in jail. My children? They're too busy to visit me. My parents? They're g-gone. I don't have anyone to fight for."
Jungkook felt a lump form in his throat as he listened to Mina's words. He couldn't imagine how she must be feeling, facing such challenges alone.
"I understand it's difficult," Jungkook said, "But you have to fight for yourself, Mina. You're worth fighting for."
Mina looked down at her hands, her shoulders trembling with emotion. "I'll try," she said softly, a sense of determination in her voice.
After the breakfast.......
As Jungkook and Mina sat on the couch and started talking but suddenly Jungkook's bag suddenly slipped from his lap causing its contents to spill onto the floor.
Papers, pens, and various items scattered across the carpeted floor. Jungkook's eyes widened in surprise, and he quickly knelt down to gather his belongings.
Mina, also leaned down to help pick up the scattered items. As she reached for a pen, her gaze fell upon a small bottle of medication amidst the clutter. Her eyes widened in recognition, and she hesitated for a moment before gingerly picking up the bottle.
"Why do you have these?" Mina asked, her voice tinged with concern as she held up the bottle of Imatinib.
" Imatinib ? Th-hese are for leukemia."
She said, her voice trembling slightly.
