Choi Yeonjun, to put it lightly, was down bad.

A few days had passed since the incident at school, and they'd been given the week off while the city attempted to fix the damages done on the roads.

Soobin and Yeji had gone home the morning after they'd spent the night... which was good for them, but most importantly meant this:

He hadn't seen Choi Soobin in over 72 hours.

It was honestly depressing, and his groupchat of best friends were brutally making fun of him on video call.

"Jesus, Yeonjun," his friend Beomgyu's voice came through his phone, seeing the demon huddled up in his blankets, sitting in his dark bedroom.
"You're so dramatic, just text him or something."

"It's not the sameee," whined Yeonjun, covering his face with his hoodie in shame. Actually, it wasn't even his— it was Soobin's hoodie, which Yeonjun had secretly stolen from him before he left.
He'd been wearing it for three days now. In a row.

"Bro, not even joking," Taehyun spoke through the phone, "you need help."

"No," Yeonjun retorted, turning on his camera and flipping off the rest of the group on the call.

"This guy! If you think Yeonjun is a simp say 'aye'," Kai joked on screen, followed by a chorus of the two other boys saying "aye" in response.

"You know, Jun, we're still hanging out on Lupercalia Day right? You can invite Soobin to come with us," Taehyun suggested, watching Yeonjun sit up immediately in his bed in surprise.

"No," Yeonjun immediately responded. "That is such a bad idea. I'm not getting him involved with demon shit."

"He's already involved with you," Kai snorted despite a glare from his friend.

"Come onnn, Yeonjun, it's a holiday! How bad could it be?" Beomgyu argued helpfully.

Yeonjun only huffed in response.
He'd always lowkey hated the holiday of Lupercalia, because to him, it felt like an off-brand, pointless, couples' festival that was just an excuse for demons to get drunk and make out on the streets everywhere.

Not to mention, it was a demon only holiday, which made him slightly cringe even celebrating it openly.

"Come on, Jun, it's basically like Valentine's Day! Ask him to be your date for the night," Kai urged him with a slight teasing in his tone.

"No!!!" Yeonjun shot back instantly, a little flushed. "He wouldn't even know what the holiday is."

"So? Explain it to him," Kai retorted.

Yeonjun only rolled his eyes, leaning over to switch on the lamp in his room. He adjusted his hair as he looked in the camera, trying to make himself presentable.

"Yeonjun just doesn't have the balls to tell Soobin he likes him, that's why," Kai mocked, making the boy in question let out a loud whine in return.

"Nah man, Soobin already knows. Jun is just being a wet blanket for no reason," Beomgyu only added fuel to the fire.

"Hey," Yeonjun interrupted, offended, but found himself caught up on something Beomgyu had said.
"What do you mean he already knows?"

"We've literally talked about it before. Trust me, he knows you have a big stupid crush on him."

"Fine!" Yeonjun just groaned. "You win! I'll invite him to our stupid Lupercalia party."

"Good, because I was going to invite him if you didn't," Beomgyu responded, laughing at the evil look Yeonjun gave him.

He only clutched his phone nervously as the other boys all laughed, beginning to talk about something Taehyun had said.
He honestly stopped paying attention, instead trying to figure out how exactly to word this invitation to Soobin.

He navigated to his texts with the boy, typing out a sentence a few times before deleting it.
Until finally, he got tired of rewriting and just hit send, bracing for whatever response he would get in return.

Yeonjun felt like banging his head against a wall as he waited for his message to be seen. Maybe he'd worded it too awkwardly... but eh, if Soobin was going to date him, he would have to deal with shit like this.

"Ooh, Jun looks nervous, did you text him?" Kai teased, the other boys giggling alongside him like bratty schoolchildren.

"Shut up. If you'd never brought anyone to this before, you'd be pissing your pants too," Yeonjun fought back, biting his lip anxiously as he saw the object of his affections begin to type back in the DMs.

His friends promptly began teasing him, but once again he completely ignored them as he saw the notification of a message pop up onto his screen.

Yeonjun hit his pillow rather harshly, letting out a distressed sound that was somewhere between a scream and a whine.

"Jesus!" one of the boys on video call commented. "The fuck sound did Jun just make?"

"I just confessed to Soobin on accident, guys," Yeonjun blurted out, followed by the sound of the three other boys absolutely losing their minds as they cracked up in laughter.

"Dumbass!" Kai retorted, showing no sympathy.

"Look at this bitch! I bet Soobin's celebrating right now," Beomgyu added, wheezing his ass off still.

"It's not funny!" Yeonjun protested to no avail.

"Yeah, yeah," Kai mocked. "Congrats on telling your boyfriend that you like him. I'm sure he's really surprised."

Yeonjun pouted at this.
"I'm hanging up. He's coming over and I can't stand you guys," he announced.

"Pfft, have fun coward. Don't forget to use protectio—" Taehyun's voice was cut off as Yeonjun promptly ended the call, kicking everyone out alongside himself just as a petty act of revenge.

He hopped off of his bed, dashing over to his bathroom and switching on the lights. He looked like one hell of a mess right now, and he quickly got to fixing his hair and applying some light makeup in an attempt to look better for when his crush showed up.

Truth be told, he knew he wouldn't be ready when the time came no matter what he did to prepare.
