Yeonjun winced at the feeling of a sharp pain in his mouth, stopping him mid sentence.

The time was around twelve o'clock noon, and as one would expect, numerous students flooded the cafeteria for their lunch time.

Choi Yeonjun had once again coerced Soobin into having lunch with him... and by that, it meant he'd only had to ask a single time for the younger to agree.
Yeonjun felt somewhat bad for Yeji, as he was stealing away her best friend, but eh... all's fair in love and war, right?

He'd actually felt surprisingly well so far throughout the school day. He offhandedly mentioned this to Soobin as the two sat down at a small table in a corner, somewhat away from the larger crowds of students.

"You know, I think my headache stopped last night," Yeonjun said, taking a seat across from his crush. "I honestly think that—"

He instantly shut up as a sharp pain exploded in his mouth, making him cringe at the feeling.

"You think what?" Soobin asked, not noticing anything off. The boy was looking at his phone, doing god knows what.

Yeonjun winced.
'I cannot believe I just bit my fucking tongue,'
was the only thought on his mind, making him clench a fist silently as he tried to ignore the sudden metallic taste. For real? How much of an idiot could he be?

"I, uh," he mumbled, grimacing as it began to hurt to speak. "Never mind, I forgot what I was gonna say."

Soobin hummed in response to this, still looking at his phone.
"Ah, Yeonjun," he lightly hit the table to grab his attention. "I've gotta go get something from my locker, I'll be right back," he said, standing and setting his phone down on the table.

He leaned down, placing a light kiss against Yeonjun's hair before walking off.

Yeonjun turned around, staring at him in shock as he walked off. For real? In school?? Around people???

He grinned to himself, holding up his phone with the intention to pass the time texting or playing a game.
His own reflection stared back at him from the black glass, wearing his dumb smile, with a finger hovering over the 'on' button.

Yet, something strange caught his attention. He squinted, feeling like something about his own face seemed... different?

Confused, Yeonjun navigated to the phone's camera app, switching it around to the selfie cam.
He scanned over his face, seeing nothing amiss.

Even more confused now, he repeated he expression from earlier, faking a big smile for the camera...

Yeonjun immediately froze.
Two, slightly sharp canine teeth mocked him from where they sat, their very presence alarming.

Anxiousness immediately bubbled up within him. Had they always been that pointy...?
Yeonjun scrolled back through his photo album, looking for any selfie or video where he was smiling.

Upon finding one, it confirmed his worst fears. The image showed him with regular, human, canines, dull and unassuming.
Yeonjun took a moment to run his tongue over his teeth, wanting to scope just exactly how changed they were. He felt the sharp edge against where he'd bitten his tongue earlier, and immediately realized why he'd done so.

A surreal sense of guilt and disbelief swept over him. He almost felt stupid for having been so worried about other issues yesterday, because this was a gigantic shitshow of a problem in comparison.
How the hell was he supposed to hide his teeth, of all things?

For a brief moment, he even considered texting his father. As much as it would pain him to do so, he was beginning to reach a point of necessity overriding that fear.

Lost in his thoughts, Yeonjun didn't even realize how long he'd spent spaced out, worrying over what do do about it...

Until a person plopping down on the seat directly next to him yanked him out of his thoughts, making him flinch.

"Sorry I took so long," Soobin apologized. Rather than across the table where he'd been, Soobin now sat directly next to Yeonjun, so close that their thighs were touching.

Yeonjun was already preparing to give up his dignity as a person. He'd sat across the table on purpose; he didn't think he could handle being this close to the younger again.
And looking over at him now, it was a safe bet to say that he was completely right.

The elder began to speak, but hesitated, with his newfound fear of revealing his teeth in mind.
He leaned his head against Soobin's shoulder instead, letting out a sigh.

"My place or yours today?" he asked, hearing the soft laugh of the younger in return.

"I like how that wasn't a question of whether I wanted to or not. It's just where," Soobin responded, tearing open a bag of chips.

"Yeah. Whose house?" Yeonjun repeated, waiting as the younger thought for a moment.

"Probably yours," he answered, taking a chip and eating it. "I'm not that good at sneaking around in my own house."

Yeonjun shrugged at this.
"Your mom knows me anyway," he said causally, forgetting entirely that he probably shouldn't have said that for a brief moment.

Soobin paused at this, a blank expression on his face as he processed the comment.
"What?" he questioned. "How??? She's never come in while you're there?"

"Oh, um," Yeonjun trailed off, trying to explain it in a less awkward way than the encounter had truly happened.
"She saw me coming out of the bathroom in the morning... you were asleep."

Soobin stared down at him.
"What did she say to you?" he questioned, in disbelief.

"Nothing much," Yeonjun waved it off. "It was pretty normal."

"Jun, she's my mother. I know she wouldn't react normally to finding someone random in her house."

Yeonjun sighed at this, sensing defeat.
"Fine!" he gave in. "She just said that she already figured out that you're gay so she wasn't surprised. Okay?"

A silence fell over the table, for a brief moment, Yeonjun considered apologizing, and he sat up to glance at the younger.

Soobin seemed spaced out, looking down at the table without a word.
"Do you think," he spoke quietly, "that my dad also knows?"

Yeonjun shook his head at this.
"I have no idea, Bin. Hopefully not? I mean, she just said that she'd thought you were."

He let out a breath, leaning against his arms on the table.
"God, if he does I'll literally run away from home," Soobin said, only half joking.

Yeonjun gave him a reassuring smile at this, wrapping an arm around Soobin's shoulder.
"You could always stay with Beomgyu, he has a couple extra rooms," he suggested. "Or me, but..."

Soobin scrunched his nose at this.
"Why would I stay with Beomgyu?" he faked distaste for the idea.

"Okay, me then. But fair warning, you'll have to stay in my room," Yeonjun said, lightly squeezing his shoulder at the words.

"Oh no," Soobin spoke sarcastically. "That would be so torturous. I wouldn't survive it," he joked.

"Hey," Yeonjun nudged him, slightly grinning.

The taller brought a hand up to Yeonjun's, grabbing it and giving an affectionate squeeze.
He sat for a moment, not saying a word.

The sound of the intercom buzzing echoed through the cafeteria, grabbing quite literally everyone's attention.

"Attention students, faculty, and staff," the voice of their principal came through, her speaking calm and enunciated.

"This afternoon, dismissal will be delayed thirty minutes due to unforeseen circumstances. We will keep you updated on the schedule change. Thank you."

The pair shared a questioning look with each other, unsure of what this meant.
Naturally, complaints and chatter arose throughout the whole cafeteria, the whole student body rightfully confused.

"Can they just do that...?" a girl complained from off in the distance.

"So they're not gonna let us leave?" another student questioned.

Yeonjun furrowed his eyebrows at this, turning to Soobin as to speak.
"What do you think they're doing?" he asked.

"I dunno," Soobin responded, playing with Yeonjun's fingers. "They've never done this before."

"Hmm, weird. Whatever though, it's just more time to fuck around after class," the elder said, playfully bumping his head against Soobin's like a cat.

"You want some animal crackers, by the way? I found some in your house," Yeonjun said, pulling out a small baggie of the said snack.

"Of course," Soobin confirmed, gingerly reaching in to grab one from the bag.

And so the two chatted and ate, blissfully unaware of the afternoon that was yet to come.
