♡ | Chapter 10

"do you feel that?"

I stomped across the stretch of sand, not minding the grains that crept between my toes.

After a few minutes of aimless walking I came to a halt at the foot of a looming cliff. I had to raise my head all the way back to look at the top of it. What intrigued me was the huge, lone, oak tree that sat staggeringly close to the edge of the cliff.

It was evident from the worn out staircase that had been etched onto the cliff, that many people had attempted to climb it before me.

So I followed it, using the aid of all my limbs to clutch onto whatever jutting rock or weed that was available for support. I probably looked like a broken spider.

Once I reached the surface I dusted myself and looked around. My body was filled with pure, adrenaline-backed, pleasure at conquering the cliff. I, then, walked past the huge oak tree that was big enough to shade the the whole area I was standing at, towards the edge of the cliff.

It was simply beautiful. The Sun was on the verge of setting and the waves gleaned under its orange hue. Perfect.

I cupped my hands around my mouth and hollered, "Kang Yeon Ji, you stupid bastard!" The words rang in my ears, filling me with satisfaction.

"Who do you think you are?!"

"You're nothing to me!"

"You piece of dog crap!"

"You think you can just come back into my life like that?!"

"You think I still like you?"

"You think you're that irresistible?!"

"Well, you thought right!"

"Cuz I'm that goddamn pathetic!"

"Die!"

"Die, die, die, die!"

"DIE!!"

"This Kang Yeon Ji person sounds interesting." I gave out an involuntary, startled, squeak when I heard a voice speak out behind me.

Namjoon emerged from under the oak tree, dusting himself, and clutching a book in his hand.

Geez, what's with these BTS boys sneaking up behind me? Can't I even have a stress reliving session without one of them walking in on me?

"Did you follow me?" I asked, with my voice that was hoarse after all the screaming.

"Nah. I came here first actually. I was sitting under the shade of that tree, reading, when I heard something that sounded like an elephant trying to climb the cliff."

My cheeks heated up at that comment. I was pretty sure I wasn't that noisy.

"Why didn't you let me know you were here?" I asked, feeling offended.

"I was going to. But then you started venting out." He grinned, making his dimples peek.

I huffed and then groaned.

Whatever. I needed to get rid of this unnecessary frustration in me!

Namjoon grabbed my hand and sat on the ground cross-legged, prompting me to sit as well.

"You know what I do when I'm feeling stressed out?" He asked.

I shook my head, no.

Without another word he laid back down on the grass, with his arms behind his head, and closed his eyes.

I waited for him to speak, but he didn't.

"Namjoon?" I called his name after a minute, but got no reply. Great, go to sleep and leave me hanging.

I sat like that for a couple more minutes thinking about Yeon Ji. Why was he coming back into my life? I thought we would never see each other again. And even if we did, I didn't expect to feel so flustered about it after so many years. I thought I was over him. But most importantly, why did he decide to text me again after two years of no touch whatsoever. What does he want?

I had so many questions and zero answers.

I noticed that I had been subconsciously plucking the blades of grass in front of me and throwing them onto Namjoons torso.

Oops. Well, serves you right for leaving me hanging.

Letting out a deep sigh, I decided to lay down beside him. The first thing I noticed when I laid my head back on my hands was the sky. A soft gasp left my lips at its beauty. The Sun had set, giving way to millions and millions of stars to shine. And it felt like they were shining on me.

I breathed in the salty breeze mixed with the smell of dirt and wild flowers. I listened to the low rumble of waves crashing against the shore and the soft rustle of leaves overhead. I felt the cool breeze brushing against my skin like a soft silk blanket.

A euphoric feeling started building up within me, prompting me to close my eyes and relax.

"Do you feel that?" Namjoon asked in a whisper.

"Yeah..." I answered, ever so softly, not wanting to disturb the tranquil atmosphere, "...I do."
